Why do Evangelical Christians fall for conspiracy theories so easily?

Churches don’t encourage critical thinking skills. They encourage following what they say and believing what they say without really asking questions, so when someone or something they trust spouts a conspiracy, like a pastor or a beloved politician, they believe it too.

What you hate in yourself you are quick to see in others, psychology calls it "projection".
Christians are taught that we can choose to not be evil, and to constantly reassess one's own behavior.
Thus when others (consciously or uncsciously) do evil, it feels like they do it willingly. Which is the definition of a "conspiracy", doing evil intentionally.
But also the church is the source of materialism. Organized religion practically invented secular science. Thus when religious nuts see "bad will" on a large scale, they are blind to the spiritual cause of it and blame the human conspirators who might be pretty unconscious in what they do. ㅤ
If you've been conditioned since birth by a cult to believe in magical invisible sky fairies, it's a short step to other insane beliefs unsupported by evidence. These people have been taught that belief is valid and reality doesn't matter. Why wouldn't they have a fucked up view of the world?
Rejecting beliefs would mean everything they have been taught is a lie. And these people have been conditioned to "NEED" to belong to the cult. They have doubts I'm sure. But they repress those doubts to prevent being shunned by the rest of the cult. It's a form of mental illness.
A conspiracy theory is a neutral thing. It is a belief that people are conspiring about something. One was that COVID came from a pangolin. Another is man-caused global warming. Another was that President Trump conspired with Russians. Another is that Islam is the religion of peace. We didn't fall for them. Another was that Biden was demented. He was. Another is that democrats conspired to deny Trump serving as President. The did and still are. Christians "fell" for both.
What other conspiracy theories do you think Christians fell for? One we fall for is that Jesus Christ is God Incarnate. Another is that is one of the best Presidents in history.
"It’s been shown time and time again. . ." Instead of just stating that conclusion, can you point us to some evidence that supports that statement? I ask because many critics of Christians simply characterize them as stupid but I know many extremely intelligent people who are Christians; Therefore, I question that statement.

"conspiracy theory" is a CIA information suppression tactic to smear people who notice what is suppose to go unnoticed. People that seek Truth, tend to notice Truth more often then those who ignore Truth. Thus those who wish to go unnoticed have to smear the Truth seekers more often.
But various conspiracies go different directions. christians don't fall for ALL conspiracies but we did invent or notice some, for which we were censored by authority in Facebook, just the ones with basis are plausible. Calling something names doesn't refute it. Try refuting conspiracies!
I've never heard this before. How has it been shown time and time again? Pretty sure all people are just as susceptible and the only real difference is who is calling what ideas, conspiracy theories.
Time and time again?
That means it should be really easy to link a credible source.
If you can brainwash them into believing there's a god, you can get them to believe anything!
I find religious people in general to be gullible. How else would they believe in their crazy religion?
