Would you agree that God might delay your compensation even if you worked for it, if you are not ready to receive it?

I liked my boyfriend 17 years ago, but I was not mature enough or stable enough to attract him back then, and at the time, he was eager to settle down, and did not want to wait for someone like me to normalize and become healthy. He spent time seeking his future wife in community centres where he lived and I do not know what became of that because we lost contact until around 2020 or 2021 when he was single.

I believe he is and I'm definitely not ready. But I am disappointed in myself for not being more worthy recipient of it.
