How did the "Sermon on the Mount" become political?

If these interactions actually happened (which, for the record, I don't believe for one second that they did) either he's lying or those people are just idiots. There are no "liberal talking points" in the Sermon on the Mount. There are no "political talking points" in the Sermon on the Mount whatsoever. A lot of what Jesus said is basic, albeit hyperbolic demands on the hearts and souls of those who would follow him. The only reason that it became political, if in fact it did, is because people are reading politics into it.
Because it was likely fiction that the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) was a single, verbatim speech - or that it actually happened.
What you need to understand is that 100% of what we're told of Jesus, and what he said, are second or third hand accounts. Nowhere in the bible does Jesus actually, first hand, say anything. He doesn't even have his own gospel!
Essentially scammer evangelists like Moore are getting caught out, as are all these "American Christians"
I think some people are so busy adding spiritual treasure to their lives that they run out of time to remove the carnal trash while they do it. Many people are offended by the absence of evil, because it competes with the evil inside themselves. It’s why every one hated Rebecca black’s Friday song: it was cookie cutter clear of drama and so typical that there was no negativity or trauma bonding in the lyrics. People are addicted to drama. It is why books without cynical or tragic thoughts get so many low ratings online.
It became political around the same time christian nationalism started to take off

Yawn:
This, exactly 💯
It didn't Jesus never said "cancel borders and welcome non-citizens who ignore laws about immigration process" did he?
Yeah I forgot about that part where He said it was okay for masked law enforcement agents to terrorize children and elderly people and ACTUAL US citizens who have no criminal record WHATSOEVER. I also forgot about the part where He said make sure you arrest them on the way to school and work and to court! I also forgot about the part where He said right before they are being sworn in as US citizens to disrupt the proceedings and arrest them after all of the work they had to do to become a US citizen! Thanks for the reminder!
