Do people celebrate religious holidays even if they’re not religious?

My dad's family friends mostly come from China since my dad thinks communicating in Chinese is easier than communicating in English, and when I was a kid, our families would all celebrate things like Easter and Christmas even they all grew up in families were religion was not taught, and the celebration was either with my dad's friends who had kids my age, or with my cousins and uncles and aunts who were similar to our ages as well, and we would have large celebrations for those holidays, they were not small scale events.

I read the bible but I am not a denominational Christian, though I am more Pentecostal than Baptist, and I do not believe God punishes anybody for ignoring a religious holiday, but I believe if you choose to celebrate the religious holiday, God might give you a blessing on that holiday, not because of the holiday, but because the holiday is an excuse for him to give you the blessing he wants to give you, and to have you recognize it as a religious gift from God.

A few years ago, I rewarded myself during Easter by joining a zoom group where I learned to draw flowers, and bunnies, that was a good way to celebrate Easter, and this Easter, I plan on using a gift card I have to buy snacks for me and my family that match the Easter vibe.

I don't know about most people but what i can say is Christmas is one of those holidays that has been commercialised but still comes from the roots of Christ's birth. A lot of people celebrate it even with a star on the tree or an angel in aome cases.

Most non-religious people I know don't celebrate religious holidays, but some of them do (usually Christmas and Easter, but not the other ones).

Ah, who cares if people do or not. If they are going to give you off work with pay. I say take it.

In post-religious (my term) Europe, this is pretty much the normality.

I do celebrate it and I am not religious because for me it's a time where I can go and meet my family, which I don't get to do often so it is a reason of celebration for me

I barely even celebrate Christmas. I put a tree up but that's about all I do.
