Why is YouTube’s algorithm burying non-political Jewish Bible study content?

18 years ago, finding Jewish rabbis on YouTube that gave direct bible analysis was easy. Now, it seems the YouTube display algorithm only cares about Jewish politics, Jewish customs, Jewish controversies, Jewish economic principles and Jewish dating. The stuff that interested me 18 years ago, does not appear in Google YouTube searches due to low algorithm priority.

Over time, youtube and all of the Alphabet companies, like Google, have become more sophisticated at monetizing our online behavior.

The short answer is, no, they're not burying content. They are amplifying content that generates revenue. That means not wasting page views on content that produce less money. Think:

a) Jewish Bible Study

vs.

b) Polarized Jewish politics/customs/controversies

The money is on b).
