In Hindu thought, can being robbed or wronged increase your karma and blessings?

A guy told me a lot of religious people in South Asia believe that when they get robbed, their karma value goes up.

I know people who went through bad and unfair events that became extremely successful in ways that do not correlate with their intelligence or cognitive luck.

I do not want to embarrass them so I am going to avoid details, but I know multiple people who became successful with only normal intelligence and common power levels.

They were robbed by unfair events as kids, and as adults, they became very rich.

A friend of mine used to like saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." I think there's truth to that at many levels.

• Vaccines
• Loss of a loved-one
• Difficult life experiences
• And yes, being robbed or wronged.

I don't know much about Hinduism but it makes sense that negative experiences might increase karma.
