🙏 Why Do You Believe God Exists?

This is something I've been genuinely curious about, and I'd love to hear different perspectives.

For those of you who believe in God, what convinced you? Was it a personal experience, something that happened in your life, your upbringing, answered prayers, the beauty and complexity of nature, or something else entirely?

And if you've ever questioned your faith or gone through a period of doubt, what brought you back—or what made you see things differently?

This isn't meant to start an argument or debate. I'm simply interested in hearing the reasons behind people's beliefs and learning from different experiences.

Please keep the discussion respectful. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts. 🤍If your goal is to encourage both believers and non-believers to participate, I can also write a version that's more open-ended and welcoming to both sides.

I was raised in the Catholic faith and I began to pursue it on my own around this time in 2004.

As for what has shaped it since then? Probably the biggest thing was when I began my catechism formation in 2019. One of the first things the basic course covered were some philosophical terms that, once I understood them (my poor best friend/roommate from college... he spent about three hours on video chat trying to help me grasp "substance" and "essence"...), some other first principles of philosophy I'd read about several years earlier started making more sense as well. After that, it just started making more sense for God to exist.

I dont believe that there is a little old man that is called God but i do believe there is a God that is everything ans is a part of everything

And the Bible is a code book Of telling us Who we truly are
But men has taken things out of the Bible has put new things in the Bible so it's hard to believe any of it I know it is the greatest story in the world but I believe God is energy and we are all energy you me everybody everything everything is a frequency we are not the body that you see yourself in right now you are the invisible person on the inside

You are powerful you are beautiful you have all the answers we all do but we need each other to open those doors within to get these answers out

For the people that don't believe in God and believe that you are the body that you're in right now will close your mouth close your eyes and say God silently after you say it whose voice just said what and whose voice did you hear was it your body outside or was it the energy Within

Nobody is around you but you heard the word god and somebody said it to you right

Anyways we are all an invisible frequency everything the vibrates has a frequency and the communicates we could talk on the phone we could text I'm on the west coast you're on the East Coast and I can make you feel my energy from here to there and vice versa if you understand energy

I've tried to get a couple things going on here to where if we could get 20 people together make a plan to do something and we're all in different states countries but I could prove to you that we could all do it just by thinking it now that's pretty powerful

Darwin's theory is just a theory that has not been proven and I wouldn't believe it anyway because of the energy

But there are many many reasons why I believe in God and

Whoever I communicate with is telling me Things and has never ever lied to me what they tell me has always come true And it's through Energy I believe but the man that I was talking about now I do believe in Jesus too even though they said it's just the greatest story of the world but I also have faith and I can feel things deeper than most I see things deeper than most it doesn't mean that I'm right doesn't mean that I'm wrong but it means I'm willing to put myself out there until somebody proves that I'm wrong I don't need to be right or wrong all I need is faith and love and gratitude and to give of myself and the most positive ways

But we are very very powerful people and all we have to do is unite and become one just like it says become one with self one with others one with this universe our God and just watch how we would change the world how the world is would change for the better instead of the people that are actually running it and destroying it because it's evil they're evil people didn't want us to know what they know otherwise we would destroy them and it's going to come down to that one day but that wasn't your question I got a question for you do you believe

Well for starters because my mother, father, and one of my sisters are deceased. So i can't bear the thought of never seeing them again. But i know that isn't a good argument for God's existence.

First off i have an analytical mind. And to me there's just more evidence for God's existence then his abscence. The very nature of the universe suggests there's an intelligent design behind it. I love how people can get very scientific and talk about the Big Bang. But not talk about all that came after it. For example, gravity. If gravity had been a little bit stronger or a little bit weaker. Stars would not form they would not create heavier elements like they do. They would not explode and seed the cosmos with the very elements that make up your human body. And that's one of only a 1000 examples. You can explain it away as chance. But that's the same odds as taking 55 "6" sided dice and rolling them and them all landing 6's on 1 roll. Those kinds of odds just don't happen by chance.

Now if we step away from the mathematical. I believe God exists because Jesus Christ just makes sense to me. God only asks that you have faith in him (that he died for your sins). God is infallible. Everything God does is for a reason. We try to make sense of God with out feeble human brains and that is our undoing. Why bad things happen to us. God sees everything. GOD exists outside of time. To God past, present, and future are simoultaneous. God seeks a close relationship with us. And the only way we can do that is by trusting him. As time goes by and by being faithful we grow a greater understanding of why are path is the way it is and how it intersects with others. It's not about living an easy rewarding life (even though of course everyone wants that). That is not how character is built. Sometimes your character in the face of adversity is a beacon for others to follow.

And lastly there's the "miracle" factor. The things that should just not happen, yet they do. Now can you explain away a miracle. Of course! That's not the point. Again we're going back to odds here. My sister was put into medically induced coma. With the length of time she was in it and fluctuations she had in her blood pressure while she was in it she should have sustained SIGNIFICANT brain damage. And she did sustain some. She did have seizures afterward. Her personality was affected by it. But otherwise you wouldn't have known she had been in a coma. 5 years. later she went back to the hospital and once again looked like she was going through the same ordeal. But instead her heart stopped and the could not revive her. Now i know you're going to ask, "how is this a miracle"? There's no doubt in my mind God wanted to take her the first time. But she had so many people praying for her to pull through i believe God gave her back to us. Not unscathed, but in good enough mental health for us to say goodbye. My sister had been chronically ill her whole life. She was still able to get married, adopt a child, see her through to adulthood. And i think God didn't want to see her in pain anymore. I think it broke Gods heart to separate us. But her time on this plane of existence had served it's purpose. We will see eachother again one day. And my sister will have a glorified body in christ. Untouched by pain or disease and undimmed by this worlds tears. It will be a glorious day to see her like that.🥹

Universe is probably made of at least 5 Quantum fields which are likely simulated. Up and down quark, W Bosons, Electron and Electron Neutrinos field exist as a gigantic ocean of fluctuations. Physicians call it virtual particles. If there is something that controls this shier unbelievable gigantic amount of those fluctuations which interact with each other and create reality that we see as universe it's rather a program like a operating system that defines rules and controls time than an old man with white beard who only feels good when humans pray to him.
If an control entity exist that is capable to control this chaos, I don't think it's something religions are willing to accept. at least not those religions we have today.
Humanity is young, our civilization is barely 10k years old. Religions and ideologies develop with time either. No one believes in Nergal, Seth or Ra today. Religions develop with knowledge of reality that surrounds us. However this knowledge exploded in last 3 centuries and religions can't transform that fast. That's why perception of god is so outdated today.

If you look at the laws of thermal dynamics, it inexorably proves there's a creator with God status, power, authority. Entropy, energy conservation, Google them, it's a quick read.

There are many little factoids that if reversed, life would be difficult to impossible. IE ice floats. If ice sunk, the earth would be frozen over.

Another factoid. DNA. It's a complex information sequence with little room for error. Autism and such things are the results of 1 or 2 or 3 errors.
DNA had to have been created, cannot occur randomly or by any other accidental means.

After that, it's just a discovery of which religion is actually serving the true Creator. They can't all be right.

Look up on YouTube & Google the Muslims that have been seeing visions of Jesus.

Also, while I was homeless (yes back in the day), a guy tried to kill me with a machete. I couldn't run away, was backed into a corner. I literally prayed my last prayer, he turned around at that moment and walked away. True story, cops didn't believe me.

I actually grew up in an Apostolic Church ever since I was born but it was only recently that I got serious about God. One reason is that I could see when I look back how He was there through my life, providing for my families needs, helping me through some dark moments in life.
Also I used to be really scared of Him, scared that He would punish me is I messed up or sinned, but He is so merciful and compassionate, instead of beating you down to ground, like the enemy and even yourself does, instead He gently leads you to change, I have heard it said that God is a gentleman, He won’t force you and He gives everyone a chance, no matter what they’ve done.
He has also healed me in a lot of ways whether mentally, emotionally, physically too (I used to have chest pains and I would ask for prayer or pray and He would take it away. Not that doctors can’t help, with this particular issue though, they said I was too young to have heart issues and brushed it off, a this was a specialist too.)
I have had times of doubt, after watching a family member go crazy, and also struggling myself mentally, but He helped me through it.
There is a scripture that encourages me “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

God can make a beautiful masterpiece out of the broken pieces of our lives. A bit poetic lol but it’s true. :)

It is just the order i heard stuff. First i believed in tooth fairy and god. Then i found out: no tooth fairy. Later when i heard the alternative to god is "random" but we observe a world not random. Interactions of trees with bees. Interaction of algea oxygen with mammals. The cycle we breathe to feed trees while also trees breathe that! so we can breathe (or ancient algea).

I was curious of various science guesses. It is a shame they are so self contradictory. or implausible crap. You need stronger blinder faith than a catholic , just to believe that "physics" fraud bs. See one of many examples at link

Is really hard for me to describe of put it into words. I believe in God since I was a child and the moment I learned how to pray God always answers. When I go to mass I can feel the Holy Spirit, sometimes I get extremely emotional with how powerful it is. When I go through challenges in life I can always feel God's presence reassuring me. I know for those who don't have faith or do not believe in God all this may sound like BS but I'm not here to prove anything or convince you how real it feels to me. This is what I believe and experienced in life.

Yes I believe in Him but I can’t fathom when my belief started. At a guess, I’m thinking since I was 15 when I prayed to God and it was like I was listened to and my prayer was answered. My belief dipped a bit after that but since 2022 my belief has strengthened. Now I always talk to Him and I still feel like I’m being listened to. I will say something small, for example asking Him to keep me safe when I’m outside walking home alone. When I get home I thank Him for keeping me safe. I am ALWAYS grateful. I also ask him to keep my guy healthy and happy and to look after him. I know He’s always listening.

I know my God exist;  I don't need belief.  When I say I know I actually mean it in the truest sense of the word. What I consider my God is actually provable.  An old man, who has been dead for a few years now, revealed it to me. Although really I already knew. Everyone already knows. They just don't call it God.  Like I said, it's something you already know about. However, you'll never guess it because you never considered it as God.  This same thing is talked about in all religious books. It's the one thing that is in all of them. It's the one true thing that is in all of them. It's in science. It's in everything. It's the most important thing, in my opinion, that you could be aware of. We are all aware of it, yet very few spend any time thinking of it.  However, at the end of the day, no one can know/prove if there's something beyond their God. I simply can prove, what I consider to be, my God exist.

People usually personify "God". S/He's a gendered, thinking, decision making, often vengeful and all powerful being with some agenda.

I'm more simplistic. I see God in nature, in the beauty of the human form, in the similarity of our anatomy to that of other animals. Don't get me started with flowers, attraction between people, the oceans and the savannas.

Yes but my definition of that god is the origin of love. I do think there's higher powers who nudge things from time to time, certain things happened in my life that are statistically effectively impossible. But for me god is a layer deeper than that. "God" may not even have made this world, it may have created the world that created this world or multiple layers beyond that. Just like god didn't create the world from your dream last night, you did.

I'm agnostic. I don't believe there's enough evidence to know for sure whether God exists or not. I'm open to the possibility, but I don't feel convinced by any religion or belief system. I respect people who believe, and I also respect those who don't. For me, it's okay to admit that I simply don't know.
