Why do Catholics and Protestants argue so much if they worship the same God?

They believe in the same God, but not in the same teachings. And they're annoying assholes, because they believe THEIR interpretation of the bible is the correct one and they don't consider Catholics as real Christians. I broke up with a girl after two weeks because EVERYTHING with her had to be about Jesus, and one of her friends told me, "She dated a non-Christian once and it was hell for her." Fuck you! One time, she asked me to pray for her and then said, "Wait, you didn't pray to a SAINT, did you?'

And they don't believe in science and a lot of them are straight-up culty. I went to a Protestant school and my mom got a letter about not wearing skirts, and one day it was like 110 degrees, and I had those pants that turn into shorts and the fucking JANITOR told me I'm not allowed to wear shorts on Friday. One of my buddies joined venture club and one time he didn't show up to mass, and they called his house. I skipped mass when I was in Sunday school and no one called my fucking house. One of my co-workers said her pastor made them dance barefoot, and when her mom reported them to the diocese, they didn't do anything.

Me and my buddies in high school would kick around water bottles around on the parking lot of a Mormon church and they called the COPS on us for getting water on their parking lot! WATER!!!

And Catholics don't go around people's houses or handout Bibles or shame you for not being Catholic. One Protestant in my class said anyone who doesn't believe in God is retarded and another got offended 'cuz I didn't wanna go to his church. Us Catholics never impose our believes on anyone!

I read stories about children dying because their parents refused to see a doctor. And on an airplane I overheard a conversation, "Our priest said it's okay to have sex after we've had a child."

There are fundamental differences in doctrine
1. Catholics believe the Church authorized the Bible. Evangelicals believe the Bible authorized the Church.
2. Catholics believe there are numerous intercessors with G0d. Evangelicals there is only one. Jesus Christ

Now I'm a Wiccan, so my opinion is based only on my observations, but here's what I think. Catholics generally think Protestants worship the same God. Some, not all Protestants insist that Catholics are not Christians. As a non Christian, my opinion is if you say you're a Christian, you are.

Because belief in God is not the contention.

Catholics believe, in accordance with historical fact and basic logic, that the Biblical canon was compiled, defined, and approved by the Church, and likewise that the Church also relies on sacred tradition and the Church's teaching authority. Protestants believe in the Bible alone.
Catholics believe, in accordance with the words of Christ himself, that the Eucharist is truly His body and blood. Protestants believe it's just a symbol.
Catholics give reverence, honor, and veneration to Mary and the Saints. Protestants somehow believe that they distract from Jesus. They objectively do not. In fact, if anything, they do exactly the opposite.
There are some differences on some social and cultural issues, like contraception.

There is a host of other matters as well, but those are the core issues.

Because religion isn't about love or god it's about power. When there is a competition who takes your believers, you lose power and this isn't something you can tolerate as religious part of religious hierarchy structure.

Good question. I don't know. I don't know what it means to be a protestant. If protastantism is the religion that that swine king Henry of England invented I tend to look down on it. King Henry broke from the pope simply so that he could do what he wants, and interpret Christianity as it fits him best. What I don't understand is how the English accepted it. I mean it might have been imposed upon them. But they could have rejected protestantism later for Chatolicism.

They only argue over the rules not their beliefs. The Catholics have lots of rules Protestants not as much. So with same God and less rules they pull people away from the Catholic Church. So it’s really a fight over membership.
