It's been said time and time again that it's not easy for most men to approach and flirt with a woman in public, and that even the most attractive confident men only have a 30 to 40% chance, at best, to impress a woman.

A 30 to 40% success rate still means rejection the majority of the time, and unlike in the pre-2000s, women nowadays tend to be a lot meaner and less empathetic about this than they used to (sorry, but it's true; a lot of y'all aren't nice).

Women also tend to not understand why only the most attractive, most ballsy 5% of men out there only hit on them, despite how many women will shout at, harass, curse out, or otherwise be viciously mean/rude to normal, decent men attempting to just get to know them better. (Not men being aggressive, rude, or not taking 'no' for an answer; just regular decent dudes.)

As a girl, are you the type to empathize with and understand just how hard it is for a guy (especially a not-handsome, not-fit, not-tall guy) to muster up the courage to ask a complete stranger to get to know him better and begin a potential relationship with him?

... Or are you the type of woman who will reject a guy loudly and rudely, because he was too short/ugly, wasted your time, or "couldn't see the tiny little wedding ring on your finger while you're holding your purse or phone" or something?

I've been talking with this girl who gave me her phone number, but a fake name. She told me from the outset that the name was fake, so it's not that big of a deal.

I asked her for her real name at the beginning of this week, and she never responded. I suspect that the reason might be that she's uncomfortable with me asking her real name.

Should I apologize for asking?

So here is a bit of clarity on this question...

I was on a dating website, I have always put on my bio "please no single mothers". Which I think is perfectly fine. The reason for my preference is because I have relationship & courtship in the past with single mothers and it was messy. Another reason is I am selfish. If you go into a relationship to give than you should give it openly and equally. To me dating single parents means you will always be at the bottom of their list (which is natural). Plus I want my own children & most don't want more so I think it is unfair to sacrifice what I want for someone who doesn't. So there are my reasons...

Not exactly I said anything racist or disgusting as it is my preference. Yet I had several angry messages from many angry women saying I was "disrespectful" and "mean".

Yet I am sure women who put the same thing but say dad's. They don't get half the problems.

So why are you single mom's get upset about it?

Respectful answers please no snowflake or butt hurt answers. I have asked a reasonable question so I expect a reasonable answer.

So, this is probably a stupid question, and I think I know the answer, but I would like a woman's perspective on this. There's a model that I've interacted with a few times on Instagram who I've gotten along with quite well. There was an IG live thing that we did, talked and joked around for a little over an hour, had a few conversations besides that; it's been decent but not a ton of contact.

I want to delete my instagram account now, for personal reasons, but I'd like to stay in touch with the model, so I sent her a message stating as much. I sent the message about a day ago, and I've seen her post to her story since that time, but she hasn't even openned my DM. Naturally I'm kind of wondering if maybe her answer is that she doesn't want to stay in touch. I've also thought about the fact that what I'm asking of her is kind of a big deal and that she probably wants time to think things over. At least, I know that it would be a big deal to me, if I was in her position. The model and I live in different countries, so even if she stayed in touch with me, it's not like there's a ton of additional intimacy.

I'm just curious about what the feminine take is on this situation? How big of a deal is it for a man to ask a woman he's met online, to stay in touch? What would you do in her position?
