I have an opportunity to marry a younger woman who has an excellent personality and is a very hard worker. We have been friends with for a few years now. It was her idea is purely for economical reasons. It would benefit us both.

But I am not in love with her and she knows that. She said she doesn’t care if I date and sleep with other people. This would be a paper marriage.

I have gotten advice for a few trusted people about this. All but one person said it’s a bad idea. I am leaning towards no myself but besides the economical arrangement a part of me wonders if I’ll ever find an ideal partner given my age.

Ever since I hit 36 (in my early 40s now) my dating life has been hell on earth trying to find a truly decent woman I feel attracted to. I have had a few flings with attractive women who would make horrible wives. I tried dating a girl who i felt so so about physically just for her personality. That slowly got agonizing. I ended up breaking up with her and that ended very badly (she went psycho).

However of me just WANTS this life milestone. But I don’t want to be an adulterer. Even though she understands I might date other woman I do have spiritual beliefs. Oddly the Bible doesn’t say anything direct about premarital sex (but it heavily implied that’s not alright). But it is VERY clear about adultery. I wouldn’t feel comfortable cheating on my wife. Even if it really is a paper marriage and it doesn’t sit well with me.

Here's something I was just interested in getting opinions on.

I was never really fond of my body hair. I usually keep my chest and armpits clipped. Not quite shaved, because that gets itchy, but clippers on the lowest setting to remove the hair. Especially in the armpits.

When I was younger, I would shave my legs on occasion, and people like my parents would express some concern. "You know that's more of a girl thing, right?" Though mostly in my mind, it didn't seem right to prefer something in women that I don't do myself. Which is interesting because I don't really mind women who have a bit of hair on their legs. I just think it looks better shaved.

Today, I shaved my forearms. Not just with clippers but with a razor. I just wanted to give it a try, and I kinda like how it came out, myself.

But honestly, I don't hold strong opinions on it. If I'm dating a girl who likes men with some extra hair, I don't mind growing it out. I like the idea of looking good for my SO.

The main exception is probably the face. I keep what is probably 2 weeks of facial hair. Mostly because I really like the definition it adds to my face, and how I can kind of sculpt my facial structure by how I trim it.

But yeah, I just thought it would be interesting to see what women prefer. Or men for that matter. I imagine it differs by political alignment and urban vs rural.

I know GaG will never get rid of political posts. More user generated content means more money for them. From a business perspective I see why they allow political posts.

Anyway I have been on and off this website for 12 years now. When I first got on it I specifically came to ask questions about dating and sexual topics. Questions that I was too embarrassed to ask out loud otherwise.

I remember back in 2010 there were only a minority of posts about politics and Obama. Sure young people talked about politics back then but it was like number 8 to 15 on the top 20 list of issues we worried about. It mostly considered boring and/or lesser importance.

Now it’s in the top 3 list of things people worry about no matter your age group.

I admit I have posted several political questions and polls over the years. I felt more comfortable posting here than on my social media channels. At least here I would get countervailing viewpoints. I actually invite logical and respectful debates. But that is becoming less and less common.

But again the name of the website is “Girls ask guys”. It was supposed to be about dating. We actually shortchange ourselves when we start fixating on politics.
