Personally, No – The Statue of Liberty was a gift, not a lease. It was given as a gesture of friendship and shared values during a time when both nations believed in liberty as a guiding principle. Even if our governments disagree on policy today, the statue stands for more than current politics—it’s a symbol of hope, welcome, and the potential for freedom. Returning it would feel more like erasing history than correcting course.
But I also get why some in France feel disillusioned. If the U. S. loses sight of the liberty it once stood for, then maybe the statue’s presence does ring hollow. That’s not a reason to send it back, though—it’s a reason to live up to what it represents.

Feminism, at its core, claims to stand for equality—but can it really be called that if it only speaks up for one side? I struggled with severe mental illness and developmental/maturity delays all throughout my life, even well into my 20s. I didn't get my first real, serious girlfriend until age 29, whom I am now engaged to. Now at 30, I realize my life up to this point has been very turbulent. I have a high school diploma, but lack a degree. My most recent roles have been in tech, but I was fired back in July of last year and haven't recovered in my career since. Yet, the tech landscape has changed so drastically these past 4-5 years that my once high-in-demand skills are becoming the skills of yesterday.

Where it stands today, I continue to collect disability checks and Medicare while I move back to my mom's house in search of my next career move. Fortunately, I have my own living space at my mom's house so it doesn't become awkward for my fiance.
