Under Apocalyptic Skies, Republicans Blow Smoke On Climate Change

On Thursday, as much of the northeastern U. S. was blanketed for a second day by thick, highly hazardous smoke from wildfires raging in Canada, HuffPost asked Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) whether he sees a link between the hazy air and the overwhelming body of science that shows global climate change is helping give rise to extreme fire.

“We’ve had fires for all of our life, come on,” Tuberville scoffed. “We’re all for environment, but this is just another situation where you’ve gotta do your work in forests. I mean, you just can’t let it grow up. It’s unfortunate that this is happening. It too shall pass.”

It is true that many U. S. forests are overgrown and susceptible to devastating blazes, in large part due to decades of fire suppression and Smokey Bear’s anti-fire messaging. But it’s absurd to suggest that solving the current wildfire problem is as simple as preventing trees from growing old. In fact, mature and old-growth forests are more resilient to fire, and they sequester massive amounts of planet-warming carbon.
Tuberville wasn’t the only Republican to use the historic smoke event — a rare phenomenon in cities like New York — to peddle pro-logging talking points while doing somersaults to ignore or downplay the climate change link.

At a Senate GOP press conference Thursday in Washington, D. C., Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) said East Coasters are getting a taste of the smoky summers that have become the norm out West.
“This is what happens when you have more lawyers in your forests crawling around versus loggers, and when your forests aren’t managed properly,” he said, referring to environmental groups that have sued to block timber projects. “Washington bureaucrats and the court system in this country continue to give us policies that can result in air quality like this.”

So I was taking classes to prepare for a late entry into university, mostly I was refreshing math skills

A group of classmates and I became friends and always sat together, this included this very cute lady who was early twenties (I was mid twenties)

After a few months I sat beside her randomly and we talked a lot and were getting on great, then at one point she was taking off her hoodie, and underneath she was wearing a tight shirt and she looked incredible, I guess I looked for a moment too long, because I realized she froze, I looked up to her eyes and we locked eyes for a good few seconds and then she just finished taking it off

We continued like nothing happened, she kept talking to me and all that

We would text a bit too later but I didn't make any moves because I wasn't in the best place in my life, and also I wasn't sure if she liked me, but I can be oblivious

I think about this because I am worried I might have come across as creepy by looking at her body, which I try to never do, here I didn't even realize I did it until it was too late, I was already looking at her

Another part of me is wondering if she was ok with me looking and if that was a sign that I should've tried talking to her more

I later saw her in my school (her and I both went to the same university after) and she was happy to see me and we talked again like the good old days

Did a post some days ago about my first date with a girl.
And this is... Well part 2..

Again, the first date went actually very well.

• The touchbarrier was broken.
• We laughed a lot together and she had open body language
• She seem genuinely interested and comfortable in the company.
• If you go by the book, everything about chemistry was there.

But after the date she became much slower than usual in response, like responding my follow-up text, but answered the day after the date (in the evening, usually it's when she wakes up ). She answered with a heart and admit it was a great date.

But lately since, I've felt a bit slow-fade from her. Not all the same quick response and energy.

Yesterday I said "I would really want to meet you again since we had a great time. Why don't we hook up on the arcade, next Friday?"

To that she answered, after yet again very slow answer "I would love to go out with you again, but as friends. But I understand if that's not what you want."

Questions.
Is this a lost cause?
Or is there still some chance to turn the tables?

I'm really interested in this girl, and she shared mutual before the date.

I had my first date with a girl yesterday.

Everything went smooth and actually pretty good, in my opinion.

• Chat went smooth, no awkward silence.
• Laughed a lot together.
• Saw her stare (in the periphery) at me when she showed me something on her phone.
• She had open body language: No arms across or wandering eyes on the surroundings.
• She let me pay the bill.
• Bumped shoulders a lot during walk.
• Physical contact (during laugh or showing/pointing at something etc): Stroke her back/arm/hand on knee, and no signs of withdrawal, so I assume she was comfortable with me.
• Didn't kiss, because I don't want to do that first date, but we did a farewell (long) hug.
  *We said we had a good time, before we part.

So withing one hour I also sent her a follow-up message, yet again that I had a great time with her and I'm open to have a second date.

Now she have been online on FB-Messenger 2-3 times since the date.
She haven't "read it" it though, but I'm sure you can read it in the notificationbar and then swipe it away.

My question.

• Why would you not respond to a successful date?
• How long should I wait before sending a text again, and what should I say without come out as needy?
