I am living with my mom and stepdad, both of who are very religious; especially my stepdad. Several times I've heard him say to me and my pre-teen half-brother that sugar is the worst, that it's always worse than fat, sodium and especially a much bigger attack to our bodies than calories.

For all my life the internet sources I've read just said to rely on calories for weight loss.

I personally do not like my stepdad telling me what to do with my eating habits but there is not a way I can do to stop this, and even if I could, there's no way of automatically correcting him. But he is a Christian, he thinks because he is a man, he's automatically the head of the house and thinks his bluntness is power and my mom is too soft of a rulemaker as a woman since her thoughts are more free-thinker-like.

I told my mom today about an issue I had with a black female stranger telling me to put my phone down (I said "ok Karen" to her) while I had music on me even though it was public property and I didn't put on anything offensive.

I told both my mom and dad about the homeless crisis. My mom said not to let 20 seconds ruin my day and to just "get over it and move on" (I HATE those terms, it literally reminds me of gaslighting). My dad half-agreed with me but also that I shouldn't have been rude to her and called her a Karen, that "she was (likely) just looking out for (me)". I always pay attention to the streets and I am only writing this while on my phone on the street because I am stressed out and alone right now.

My mom isn't into politics but I told her that I hate living in a Democrat state; my dad is also nearly as conservative as I am, but he was discussing the issue in the city he lives in (in the same state) after I told him the city I live in is almost as bad as the ghetto city I lived in before.

He told me the city I live in has "a low crime rate and a high police presence everywhere". Right after I brought up the corrupt cops!

I am seriously considering running for office one day.
