What would you do in that situation? Is it immature to say no when one's crush asks if you want to do a certain activity together, when your main reason is to avoid solitary interaction with them? Or would having the opportunity to have someone to share your hobby with be enough to distract you from unrequited feelings, and so you'd say yes, as you focus on the activity and not who you do the activity with?

Hey, so I have a huge crush on a male coworker. We are quite close at work and we flirt together. However, we are not in a position to date each other.

I saw him the other weekend and we were both a little drunk. I ended up telling him how I felt about him. I asked him if he liked me back and he said “you’re a lovely person”. I kept asking him, and he kept saying that I’m lovely. Eventually, he said “yes I do, but we can’t be together” and then we had a couple of quick kisses on the lips.

Since then, he’s been awkward around me at work. There is a stark contrast between how he was before and how he is now. He says that everything’s fine and our friendship is unaffected. He even said he didn’t remember what happened, even though I text him the next day apologising and he said it was fine.

Every time I’ve seen him outside of work and we’ve had a few drinks, he’s always been very huggy and has even nuzzled into my hair.

At work, he is hot and cold. He used to stare at me a lot but now he seems to avoid eye contact. And when we have lunch, he used to sit beside me or opposite me. But now he either sits by me but moves his chair further down the table or he sits diagonally opposite me.

I’ve noticed he does still joke with me and his voice goes soft if it’s just us two. Why is he being like this? Does he have feelings for me?

I have been working at my current company for almost 2 and a half years now. I've recently developed a crush on a colleague, but we've always had a flirty relationship. However, due to our situations, it would be almost impossible to have a relationship together. He's always been lovely to me and the flirting included things like him doing silly things to get my attention, staring at me, prolonged/strong eye contact, going out of his way to help me, seeming jealous about other men, organising the gifts/cards for my 30th birthday etc etc. I've always felt fairly confident that he felt the same way.

HOWEVER, a few weekends ago, we met up on a night out. I had too much to drink and I ended up telling him that I really liked him as more than a friend. I asked him if he liked me back, to which he said "you're a lovely person". I kept asking him, being persistent with it - he kept repeating “you’re a lovely person” and I eventually said "just answer the question", to which he replied "yes, I do but we can't be together etc". I think we had a few quick kisses on the lips, not a proper kiss, but a peck.

The day after, I apologised to him for potentially putting him in an awkward position, to which he said "don't worry about it".

The next week at work, he apparently wasn't aware of what happened. I told him that I had kissed him and he looked shocked, saying "that's not ideal, I wouldn't have kissed you properly". For the rest of the week, he barely spoke to me and was hot and cold in his behaviour towards me.

He has gotten better but he doesn't flirt with me like he used to before all this happened. He has shown being jealous because he overheard me saying I was going on a date. I saw him look in my direction and when I told him to have a nice weekend, he abruptly said “bye”

Was there any truth in him telling me that he likes me? Does he still like me? If so, why is he being weird?

I have a crush on one of my colleagues. We flirt like crazy and we are close. Would you consider this jealous behaviour?

- I was telling my manager that I was going out on a date. In the corner of my eye, I saw him look over in my direction. When I said “have a nice weekend”, he just said “bye” abruptly whereas he would normally say “you too”

- I was putting some lip balm on and he joked saying, “putting makeup on for the new guy?”

- When I got a lift to work from another guy, because of bad weather - he called me a “wimp”. The next day I asked him for some help and he responded with “why don’t you ask (name of guy who gave me a lift to work)?”

- When I’m laughing and joking with a male colleague, he goes quiet and doesn’t really interact

- He was offering me a lift to the staff do and I politely declined because someone else was talking me. He then asked me if I didn’t trust his driving
