We matched on hinge and had great text chemistry. And we were both clearly looking forward to meeting each other and really excited about the upcoming date. But then all of a sudden I felt really nervous a bit before the date. And the venue was also loud and cold. And I met her and I could see she wanted to connect. Like when we were queuing for a drink she faced me and I was just facing forward and looking at the menu. She then said she wanted to go outside because she’s got a perfume on which she doesn’t like. Anyway it was freezing and eventually we went back in. But it was awkward in general the whole date. I asked if she wanted to go somewhere else and she said sure but then pulled a face. Then when we got outside she said “you know what I’ve had a really long day and I think I’m going to be really boring and go home. But we should get lunch sometime” and then we walked to the station and she said “you need to send me all these films you’ve suggested”. Then when we got to the station she said “I had a lot of fun, thank you. We should definitely get lunch somewhere and let me know when you get home” and she gave me a hug. I think she was just trying to reject me softly so I sent her “Just got home. I think the venue was a bit off, sorry if it felt awkward. If you’d like to try again somewhere warmer and quieter, let me know. Otherwise have a good weekend :)”

For this, i want both sides to be brutally honest, so I will, too. I'm an ex alcoholic who had significant emotional issues for years that was caused by me having a bad, negative attitude. That out of the way, I wonder where the disconnect occurrs with men not sharing their emotions with women. Such as what I just did, a hardship of addiction caused by my own bad, irresponsible decisions, fault of nobody except myself, but this is vulnerability to let it go. Maybe one of you guys lost someone you cared about, someone moved away and you miss them, you feel stuck, you want to travel, and you think nobody cares about your happiness, so you suck it up and keep working. Men, is this what you're doing? Are you keeping everything that hurts you inside because you think nobody cares and will see you as weak? Ladies, if a man is doing this, perhaps a man you love is keeping his tears in, should he continue? Would you care if he sat down and told you? Guys, if you're hiding, press "yes".
