So me and my long term boyfriend have gotten into a small argument over an upcoming birthday party for one of his family members. Pretty much he wanted me to go with & I told him there’s not many family events I’m going to be attending in the future (except major ones like Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.) given the fact that every time we go out some where he leaves angry, accusing me of embarrassing him and asking why I said/did certain things. And ultimately being upset that I made him look/feel stupid. He also cares a lot what others think of him (even his own family) which I think stems from his father always calling him dumb when he was growing up. Nonetheless, I am always blindsided and confused as to how we both had two different perceptions of the event. I feel as if everything I said was fine & warranted and friendly reaction from

his family & his thoughts are completely opposite. So am I wrong for not wanting to attend an event that I know will have a bad outcome & diminish my self- esteem?
He is not like this at all when it is just us two or he’s with my family. Also, I told him all of this & his perception is that I don’t want to put in effort, or it’s my own fault for my own insecurities. But at some point in the beginning of our relationship I felt really confident & loved being around his fam.

I also don’t know if I should just give up on us, I have a hard time letting go of things & I already have so much resentment built up that I don't know if I’ll ever look at him the same, especially because he is not very apologetic about the whole situation. I find that shitty, given I put all my effort into making him feel comfortable and good about himself. He has embarrassed me before but I would never think to tell him that.

I started to see someone, (we've seen each other for 3 months). His life was getting very stressful, work demands, and a challenging negotiation over finances with his ex. He felt guilty for not giving me what I "deserve" and said he has no emotional reserves to deal with a relationship. He said he needed to get through February. He said if we are meant to be together we will be, said he won't be dating. Off and on he's said he doesn't want me to go away but also says he doesn't expect me to wait. He has a lot of great qualities that I would like in a long term relationship. I feel confused about whether he will get a hold of me in the near future and wonder if I should move on. Thoughts? I do believe he has a stressful life, it's not BS to get out of seeing me. But I also feel swept off my feet and dropped on my head. While I want to have compassion, I tend to put my needs last. At the same time, he's a super guy.. or am I kidding myself? PS I'm over 50 years old.

More like antisocial? I’m 28F & I’ve never been in a long term relationship. I saw someone briefly for a few months a few years ago & my lack of experience is sad but the dating apps haven’t brought someone else I’d want to consider long term. After being on and off them for years, I can’t tell if I’ve become burnt out or more disinterested. I don’t have friends, I have one online friend that I’ve known for a few years (never met in person) & had two online gamer friends that I just cut off. I’ve always had a tendency to cut people off when they do things to rub me the wrong way after an extended amount of time. I get to the point where I don’t see the point in confronting them & stop talking to them/remove them from social media. My mother always said I’d regret this but I have yet to feel remorse, maybe I will later down the line. I don’t have patience & pretty sure my tolerance would be lower with romantic relationships. Atm I’m more for being picky & alone over feeling like I settled & am not content with someone. Are some people just better off alone?
