I'm not saying you can't chime in on politics in due course. Still I often find people argue about politics way too quickly and heatedly without hearing the other side in proper turn. I have friends that I think don't understand a vast majority of policies when they go off on them, but I don't argue about it.

I usually ask what lead them to that choice. In part to understand it better, but also so they kinda fact check themselves in the process. I also understand that my political knowledge is not absolute. I don't or can't see all issues without some form of personal bias. Yet I still try to keep an ear open.

Do you have physical criteria/preferences for a dating partner and did you deliberately choose whatever your preferences are?

I used the above photo as an example of a woman who is overweight but not grossly overweight or "morbidly obese." I had one female user respond with a claim that the woman in this photo is not overweight at all but is in the normal range! I don't subscribe to the body positivity movement which requires that fat people be told that they are normal and don't need to lose weight. But maybe I'm out of touch. Maybe this woman represents the new normal.

I was speaking to my male friends, they all shared something interesting to me regarding their preferences. My white male friends said they found Latinas attractive due to their Eurocentric features (looking more white). I agreed but then it popped up again when a few Asian friends said they liked Latinas as well due to them “being the closest to Asians” in an appearance sense. I also agreed seeing that as well, but then my black friends said the SAME thing. Now I can’t get it out of my head, why do Latinos/Latinas look like EVERYONE? The colonization? The mixing? Why do so many people collectively consider Latinos to be “the next closest thing” in appearances to their own race/ethnicity? Does this make sense?

People have preferences, but some make them like requirements.
"I won't date a guy under 6 feet tall"
"I won't date girl over 175 lbs"
Who is more shallow in this case?

Consider how if you say prefer to date Lebanese or Chinese people to another group of people… is this wrong? My friend thinks it is but I myself think it isn’t because it is just preference and not saying that the nationality you prefer is superior to the ones you don’t. What do you think?
