Welcome to the year 2015, the year where you can't do anything without offending someone.
This comment all day! So true!
In fact, last night for Halloween, I went as one of the baseball furies from the warriors and some people thought I went as black face when I had a very small amount of black face paint on around the eye and people said be careful or I might offend someone. Clearly they haven't seen the warriors and are probably colorblind. I rest my case.
I'll wear whatever the fuck I want to, what are you gonna do, cry about it?
People need to stop taking things so seriously and worry about more important things in life than a stupid costume.
No need to be over pc about it.
If "racist" costumes are all it takes to upset you, you clearly have never partaken of real life...
I agree completely. I wish people would stop this, it's so cheap and disgusting and not even funny to anyone but other ignorant people, so why do it.
.. you don't see people making a big deal about the Viking or Santa Claus , pregnant customs , police officer , witch customs ... If it wasn't Halloween and they still had on the custom then yea offensive
First, it's "costumes," and second you clearly have an awareness that some of these costumes are indeed offensive by the very fact that you mention that "if it wasn't Halloween." These are offensive 365 days a year, its just people like you think its okay to do them b/c its just a so called costume, but in many of these are making a sick mockery of real people, real cultures, and very real events that have affected people's lives.
I understand after all I'm not Hispanic I'm Mexican
It's just one day ... I'm not offedning because its a costum .. if you are offended then make a statement on Halloween to those around you who offend you by their costumes
Im not offended by any of those. Sensitivity at it's finest.
Agreed but I don't think this one is blackface.

She didn't paint herself black and she didn't change her hair texture even though her costume is a black character. Its also a character from a show and not a real person or caricature so I would have to disagree that its blackface.
Definition of blackface: "the makeup used by a nonblack performer playing a black role. The role played is typically comedic or musical and usually is considered offensive."
She is not using black makeup.
Focus for a minute here. Blackface is not always literally "black" as in the color, it can be shades of brown. White people aren't white like the color of the screen and black people aren't actually black like the color of crayon, so yes, she is in "blackface" which is why I gave you the definition. She is a non black person attempting to put on a black person's skin color to portray a black person/character. Seriously, don't be so dense about it. We all know she was trying to look like and the character/person that was definitely black.
... The KKK one... seriously? Those people are some messed up individuals.
The KKK costume and the "green card?" signs were done in bad taste. Very bad taste, actually.
The rest I don't have an issue with at all.
I totally agree. Those were offesive but people need to lightenup a little.
If you wanna dress as bernie sanders in white face this year I'm cool with it
White people don't care about that stuff cuz Dave Chappelle :^)
Oh boy, what holiday are you SJW's gonna target next?
Probably St. Patrick's Day, as dressing in green with leprechaun hats and clovers might be considered cultural appropriation by the SJWs. Or maybe not, since it's a white culture... sigh.
@musicbrain5
Yeah that's possible. $10 says they'll target Christmas and ban the song "Dreaming of a White Christmas"
lol, those are hilarious costumes!!
Seriously, get a sense of humor, lol
Am I the only one who agrees with you? (Or maybe it's beacuse I am in a race study class, so I know more about it)
No, there are a number of people who understood the take quite well. I was fortunate as I said in my take to work for an employer who understood the implications in dressing up as another race if done in a non-respectful manner of done where someone may perceive that person as mocking their culture and so my 100 employees came dressed as Sponge Bobs, and baseball players, and princesses with no issue. I think a lot more people actually get it, but it's often harder to do what's right or call someone else out on something that is wrong, then to just be complacent and accept. Thanks for your comment.
I would pick whatever costume I wanna wear I don't think it should be racist to wear a certain costume you wanna wear or be for Halloween
telling someone they can't portray another culture is a form of racism. telling people not to make caricatures of another culture is understandable, but there nothing wrong with showing you like another cultures fashion.
I've read a lot of confusion on that, but let me make my opinion on that crystal clear. Dressing up in another culture's fashion/cultural garb in a respectful manner is done world wide, year round, and myself and no one else should take any real issue with that. I do not believe that is racism at all. However, what I am referring to is not that at all. It is people dressing up in another's cultural garb in a mocking, racist, stereotypical, or derogatory way which is often what is done on Halloween. I'm referring to people who knowingly use their Halloween costume as an excuse to essentially be racist, b/c to them on this one day of the year racism takes a day off which in fact it does not.
it's not always easy to tell the two apart though. most of those costumes are based on outdated traditional fashion. which, let's be real, people would feel embarrassed wearing any other day. plus, people like to decide one is racist but another isn't. for example: no one would cry over anyone wearing a victorian dress, even if it were mocking that era as you say, but then turn around and criticize the person dressed in an old traditional german type dress and clogs. it's hypocritical bs
Eh, I wouldn't dress up in these anyways. I prefer actually creepy Halloween costumes.
I'd go as a necromancer and have all my friends be zombies if I could.
The only costume that could possibly be constrewed as racist that I'd ever consider is a stereotypical Scottish highlander, but my family is from Scotland, so yeah.
people are over sensitive, it is Halloween, it is all in fun
Easy for you to say if you are the one who is wearing an offensive racially costume
I hope the whites of French ancestry have no problem when I dress up as a French Revolutionary and carry around a guillotine and fake heads of innocent French people who were killed during the revolution
I personally would find it cool, like the black guy who dressed up as a white guy, I thought it was awesome
@iamyourneighbor part of me even wants to make myself care to make you feel better because i see you around and you're really nice, but I'm sorry, i really just do not care about white face or cultural commentary in Halloween costumes
@iamyourneighbor hmm the tags don't seem to be highlighting
@iamyourneighbor
I hope you were being facetious, because not a single fuck would be given if you wore something like that.
@iamyourneighbor
As a 3rd generation French-American, have at it.
