It's Time for the Feminism Fad to Be Brought to an End

The year of political correctness and a very narrow-minded approach to promoting "open-mindedness".

People preach acceptance and kindness all while barking and hurling insults at anyone who dares to even somewhat disagree with their views or opinion. People claim to eat and breathe equality all while promoting completely contradictory ideas. People act as if having the right to something means they are exempt from judgement by others.

And quite frankly, it's time we shut these people down.

When you go on the internet it seems like these people are the majority, but really, they just have the loudest mouths. Step outside, have a conversation with practically anyone, and you'll find that most people do not have such ridiculous viewpoints. How is it, then, that the people with these contradictory, extremist views have such a strong voice?

Simply because we've allowed it.

People who go around on the internet pretending to be helping society with their "progressive" views, all while sitting at home doing nothing but angrily typing words on a screen aren't worth anyone's time or acknowledgement.

It's time to stop apologizing. It's time to flip the page on people who are quick to call others bigots and bullies, and point out their hypocrisy. It's time to be louder than them. Because, last time I checked, a group of angry, irrational people should not have an influence on society.

Considering a woman's outfit to be tasteless, not finding multiple fat rolls and valleys of cellulite attractive, or not being willing to consider a biological man a woman, does not make you a bigot, bully, idiot, or bad person. It's called having your own beliefs, judgements, and views, and as long as you don't personally insult, harm, or abuse anyone because of it, you are 100% entitled to them. You don't have to accept everything or everyone. Some people's choices and lifestyles completely go against everything you stand for---tolerance is being able to still live peaceably amongst those people, not changing your values just to suit them.

The only people who are bigots are the ones who can't seem to understand that simple concept---simply put, the third wave feminists who will argue you down and call you all the derogatory names in the dictionary just to push their own stance.

Sure, there are several undeveloped countries that are in true need of equality movements and laws. But many of the people making a fuss online sensationalize the need for equality in their own developed countries.

The last thing we need is more unbalanced/extreme viewpoints in society.

Either learn how to have a proper conversation in which all sides are taken into consideration

or

shut up.

And if the third wave feminists aren't going to shut down the extremists in their group by themselves, we normal people need to do it for them.

Actually its not thirdwave feminism but feminism that caused this, unfortunatley since they control most of acadamia they control all the information that reaches the general populace. Every single statement feminist have made can and has been refuted (at least to my knowledge) because they give a very one sided representation of history, current society and foreign societies. If that is a response to my remark to the onesided representation of history this is provable, for instance we never hear about how men never had the right to vote despite the fact that men didn't get the right until about 70 years before women. In fact prior to this only the rich (both men and women) had the right to vote (this resulted in many areas having laws that favored the rich, the dorr rebellion of rhode island being a response to this) The reason males got the right to vote sooner was because they where drafted into war and as such are contributing their very lives to the functioning of the country (the argument being that the rich contribute in taxes hence them having the right to vote) yet when women got the right to vote men where still being drafted into war and women where very much not ergo feminism isn't about equality and has created a one sided view of history.

I don't even know where to begin. Especially since you think men got the right to vote in 1850. Also the Dorr rebellion was caused by a clause in R. I. s charter not by a secretive unnatural oligarchy. It's interesting in history because that wasn't the norm! Also, those of this oligarchy who were make could vote. Women could not vote. Women were rarely land owners! You could only vote if you owned land!

That's the basis! Women in 18xx rarely had real economic power so you're simply leaving out a ridiculous amount of necessary facts to understand what actually happened.

In many other areas this was repealed earlier or just never happened since not all colonies or states had the same charters. But history was made up by feminists. The reality that women held no economic power, political power, or social power regardless of class and status and were married off for hundreds of years, traded like beautiful catle, prior to the introduction of feminism are just unimportant exaggerations.

I fear a future in the age of information solely because men like you make no effort to speak the necessary truth. Such is how the world works as one giant completely idiotic set of persuasive arguments. Do we have to look at statistics of R. I. s land ownership in 1829 to see females owned next to none or are we going to just pretend there was some form of equal economic standing and shift from the reality that everyone was oppressed, first by class and then by sex, because it's convenient.

The reason it was mostly male was because women who where unmarried where allowed to do as they wished it was only if a woman agreed to marry a man that she lost that privledge. Now of course the standard reaction is to presume that its because men where sexist (which itself is arguablly sexist in presupposing immorality rather then other possibilities) however if one looks the reason was simply because a man was socially and legally obligated to support his wife. He had to have say over land because he was the only one required to pay taxes on it, if she got to buy land and then he had the responsibility to tend it and pay for it that would be rather unfair wouldn't it. In fact it was unfair since any debt a woman incurred immediatley defaulted to the husband, it was his responisiblity not hers. This was what women wanted and had agreed upon as part of the marriage agreement, he had to give her most everything he got to reproduce.

Now before you counter I would point out that women have the greater reproductive power ergo they determine how men interact with women (one need only look at current trends to see this as true ie men are not demanding to take care of women now that women are sexually "free") Men where expected to die in a womans place, something of which I doubt could rationally be argued was due to men oppressing women. For instance when the titanic sank 100 women died as opposed to the 1358 men, less then 30% of the men survived as opposed to the 75% of women. One man even attempted to save himself and was forced back onto the sinking ship, how can one claim that women where subjugated by men when it was the men who where left behind to die? Again as I stated, feminism has created a very narrow view of history, in short they focus on mens "greater privledge" while completely ignoring there greater responsibilities.

I agree. That is why I am an egalitarian. I intend to call out any other would be egalitarians for their hypocritical bullshit, in order to not end up being part of a hypocritical movement myself.

Now people are even trying to say if you don't want to have sex with a certain type of person you are a bigot. Who we have sex with is non of their business. While I do support freedom of speech, when it comes to who I choose to have sex with, I do feel people need to be more respectful.

The problem when talking about tolerance, you have to on some level be intolerant of others being intolerant. So even though it is a noble cause, if you aren't prepared to have that conversation, it can make you look hypocritical simply because you can't explain your stance well. There needs to be a clear agenda, and so far that hasn't materialized in the movement yet. The egalitarian movement doesn't really have any great eloquent leaders that can argue the point the followers are trying to get across yet. This is a much needed missing component.

An example might be, that instead of telling people we don't agree with to "shut up", teach them it isn't their place to harass others for how they live their personal lives, but they are free to talk about the issue they disagree with. Then go on to explain that there needs to be a time and place for such talks, and calling someone a whore to their face to shame them is not the way we should go about things. This leaves room for freedom of speech, people disagreeing, and people not being shamed for who they are.

You will notice there are already people trying to make you out to be a hypocrite because you weren't eloquent enough in your take. That is why you have to be careful how you word things. Maybe trying to change the accepted etiquette, might be what is needed.

A lack of accepted etiquette may be a big part of the problem we are having. If you don't want to date a fat person that is fine, but it would still be improper for you to go around calling people fat trying to shame them. If however they are asked your opinion, then no one should get angry when you are honest about it. Having freedom of speech doesn't mean it should be acceptable to act like a bully.

By this logic you could still shout someone down for preaching their intolerance in an area that is improper such as funerals, and attempt move the discussion to a different place, without looking hypocritical. This should cut back on the bullying.

I don't pay any attention to people who cannot tolerate a difference of views without resorting to insults.

A lot of the issues people raise like equality aren't things that interest me. I am not black or an ethnic minority, a woman, a homosexual, a transgender or someone who enjoys casual sex, therefore none of the issues faced by people who belong these categories bothers me and I just don't care about them.

People have labelled me all sorts of name for not caring but the truth is none of the issues these people face affect me and I don't care about it. When I am asked if I am pro-choice, I politely explain how I am neither for or against abortion, it doesn't affect me, so I don't have a view point on it, boy do I get some harsh criticisms.

I respect people's right to have an opinion and they should be allowed to express their opinion (providing it does not resort to breaking the law) in a constructive and civilized manner without being abused for doing so.

Interesting. I don't mind people having different opinions than I do, but I don't appreciate people using those opinions to hurt those they don't like/agree with. I mean, there are a lot of things I dislike, but I'm not trying to make laws to reflect my opinion because frankly, it's not my business how other people are living their lives (for the most part), and I don't go out of my way to inform someone that I disapprove of them. Usually when I see SJW people getting up in arms, it's because someone used their opinion to hurt other people even if they don't want to admit that that's what they did (but I wouldn't be shocked if someone gets shouted down for voicing their unpopular opinion in an appropriate way, too).

So... meh. I think moderation and maturity are key, but I'm not sure the problem is quite as extreme as you're making it out to be.
