Feminism is something completely different from what it used to be. Just a bunch of annoying, attention seeking lesbians...I mean indenpendant women that want to "make a difference". Women today are dipicted as whores, sluts, etc. It's for a reason. I go on this Twitter, Meninist and it basically makes fun of women and I realized how seriously annoying feminists are. Why can't they take a joke?! I can understand the ones in other, third world countries. But there have been threats from feminists about always seeing men wear Meninsts shirts. It's the stupidist thing ever. My mom is a feminist and she just can't shut up at times. Women should be equal, this and that! Women aren't the same as men. Women are more fragile, women's bodys are created differently for a reason! So don't get mad over someone telling you to get back in the kitchen. Why do you think there haven't been any women presidents? Feminism is not longer needed. America has the most free women. We have progressed so much. I disagree with pretty much everything here, except the use of Christina Hoff's video which is somewhat true but she is overkilling her incorrect information about the wage gap unfairness. (I can only listen to that so much, being a woman who was a victim of that while working in broadcasting.)

But here's what I think about you writing this... YOU are a young woman who has the freedom to sit there and bang out this myTake when women in many countries don't even have PERMISSION to use a computer, much less give her thoughts and views about something. It was also not long ago in western society that women couldn't even stand up to a man or speak her thoughts without being silenced. We had to sit in dresses that weighed a hundred pounds and keep our traps shut.

It's very "feminine" of girls like you who enjoy being cute and sweet to guys and want to be desired for things you're traditionally proud of. You like to cook, sew a button, let him make decisions on what to order for dinner, etc. That's nice. In fact, that's great that you are in control of wanting that in the first place. The reason you have a lot of freedoms to make these choices at will is because of what the pathway of feminism gave you. Now it's up to people to maintain what has been built, not knock it down and go back to being less than human when it comes to our rights. Dogs have more freedoms than women do in some places on this planet, and that's okay with you?

Anyway, back to my point - you have the wherewithal to research what you've done and speak up and write about what your views are, and for that I respect your strength. You have it because of feminism, and to thank women in the past who fought for those types of equalities that were traditionally reserved for men to only speak of and write about and have published. You on the other hand, a girl of 16 can freely speak up online and publish an article on a prominent website that millions of eyes will see. You should be happy you have that equal privilege.

Imagine if GaG and other sites prohibited you from even posting a myTake because you signed up on this site as female, and it was only reserved for males. Unheard of, right? That's what feminism was originally about, having the same opportunities and being treated fairly, so that we had a voice and an opinion without fear of retribution.

Partially because it isn't true. Men may have thicker skin, bigger muscles, and higher endurance thanks to testosterone, but women have a higher pain tolerance and recover better from emotional trauma, especially at a young age.

Also, the lack of female presidents has little to do with how our bodies are built differently, but I didn't figure you intended for one to reference the other.

Regarding the discussion, I think is what is necessary is for people to tone down the politicizing of gender. There is always a "stance", it seems. Are you pro-woman? Good, acknowledge that men caused it all. Are you pro-man? Clearly you hate women.

Why do I need to pick a side? Why do I need to claim a label, hold certain views, or favor the same policies as the rest?

I do everything I can to help represent Muslims, Africans, Asians, etc. I know they have it a lot worse than I do, but I also know that my life is always going to be harder than it would be if I was man just because I happen to have a vagina. Failure to do so makes them ineligible to receive any and all government benefits. Women turn eighteen and are given these same benefits automatically.

Why don't you try calling it a 'violence culture', because rape is just one form of violent crime one can experience. Too bad the rape stats for men don't include prison rapes, because then maybe society might take male rape seriously, but instead it's mostly ignored except when it's found funny or is the butt of jokes. And male students raped/sexually assaulted by their female teachers wanted it as well, no consent needed. Women survive when they leave the house much better than men do, for men are victims of most violent crimes three times as often as women.

Tampons and condoms serve two completely different purposes, but you want to blame men for your biology. 700 laws regulating your body, eh? Then there's the little stuff that no one seems to care about either - mens' massive suicide rate, homeless majority, zero federally-funded DV shelters, no voice in abortion, family/divorce court destruction, paternity fraud, false allegations, 3x more prison time for the same crime, the Duluth Model, 3x less college scholarships for men, discriminatory female hiring quotas, the Dear Colleague Letter and on and on.

I'm not quite going to agree with this MyTake's look of feminism and how it's just full of ungrateful pricks but I will agree the movement isn't needed much anymore. The movement was needed when gender roles were about because women were not being treated fairly which was unjust but now we're a lot closer to equality but a big problem is the idea of the feminist movement was "catching women up to men". Men were treated rather unfairly back then as well such as being forced to go to war and being paying for pretty much everything. The movement cleared those up though but in today's society where problems between the genders are much more political feminism still seems focused on "catching women up to men". Maybe it is because the whole thing is riddled with unsatisfied women who want more or maybe there aren't enough guys on the movement but originally the movement was made to gather rights for women which was necessary. But now both genders have rather similar problems and the feminism movement seems to primarily be focused on women's problems more so than men's even though a lot of people state the whole thing is for equality. I'm all for equality but I don't see it happening much with feminism anymore, maybe it's just what I've seen or where I am though.

you don't need to be a feminist to believe in gender equality. The problem with calling yourself a feminist (and the reason why i do not call myself one) is that you have to pretty much co-sign to everything that comes out of the feminist camp, and despite what some tumbler feminists like to believe, this group does not get everything right. Actually, I've found that they get some key issues wrong (ex. the causes of the wage gap, as well as its actual size, which i did a mytake on). The big issue too is that there isn't much room for nuance within the feminist movement, so if you look at the facts on a particular matter, and disagree with feminist interpretation of those facts, you often won't be considered a feminist amongst feminist circles.

Feminism is more than just a belief about women having equal opportunities with men. It’s also about figuring out what the problems actually are and how to actually solve them... and this is where people often disagree. But some feminists don't really realize this and instead retort by saying "if you aren't a feminist, you are against womens rights". No my dear. If you aren't a feminists, it likely means that although you agree with attaining gender equality, you don't agree with feminists on what the problems actually are, and how to actually go about fixing them.

I'm saying the United States is one of the most free country if not the most free country. There are so many things wrong with the world that we should be dealing with. Women's equality is not important in the US right now. It's not like women are forced to stay at home and cook and clean. Women's bodies are highly politicized in your country in ways that are absolutely mind boggling to the rest of western society. That women in your country have to continuously battle against legislation that would restrict your access to birth control, abortion services and family planning resources is something that I, as a Canadian, cannot wrap my head around in this day and age.

When it comes to women's rights and freedoms, your country is far behind many of the third world countries you assume are terrible for women. For now though, there still is little freedom of choice for women or protection. I find statements like that very hilarious. Just because you want to be in the kitchen doesn't mean other women want to. Feminism is about creating a choice for women. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be traditional but there's nothing wrong with being a career independent woman either. And before you say anything I'm from a third world country in Africa so I can be a feminist and so can anyone else for that matter. Not all feminists are extremists either.

I'm betting you'd like to have the chance to get a job or study or stay at home with your family based on your wishes, not an imposed bias, which is what is being asked for by many groups, not just women. im betting you'd be screaming pretty loudly if your choices were taken away and you were forced to live a lifestyle you didn't want. just saying.

Modern feminism is essentially a Marxist attempt to dismantle the traditional family unit and make people dependent on the government. This is exactly what the Soviets did after they took power in Russia.

The reason why women were encouraged by feminists to go into the work place was so that (a) the government would get twice as much income tax, and (b) it took the mothers away from the children for most of the day. Instead of raising their own children, feminist women let daycares raise them.

Feminists encouraged women to be promiscuous. Whatever children weren't aborted were raised in single parent homes without a father figure... and they think is good, because after all, men are pigs.

Modern feminism is about power, putting white privileged women into positions of power and influence by introducing new affirmative actions (discriminatory laws). There is no correlation to Marxisme at all.
