Important things will always remain important. There are separate waves and subsections, you can't tar the entire movement as unimportant. It has helped make so many inequalities disappear. Even if it hasn't done good in your eyes it still has importance.

Yeah um I'm not a lesbian. I just want guys to be able to be emotionally free and for women to get respect. I'm sorry that hurts you.

@PiuBelloAmante I feel like guys get a lot of crap for expressin any emotion except for rage. I think guys should be able to get romantic or cry and not be ridicule for it. I wish they could just express their emotions without being called gay or something

      I completely agree!
Men need to be able to express themselves/feelings without ridicule
as for woman, well there is a big lack of respect for them, i think it has to do a lot with objectification
As long as men keep objectifying them, and women keep letting it happen nothing will change

@PiuBelloAmante and not to sound crazy but I do think the problem with male emotions stem from problems with women. Thins like crying are looked down upon because they're related to women and women are viewed negatively. I think if there were a more positive idea around being feminine or doing feminine things then being emotional wouldn't be as big of a deal.
      But that's just my theory

Very interesting... i think thats a big thing, not to be "feminine" or rather display feelings/emotions related to "femininity"

I agree men and women are connected and need to work together to fix these kinks in society

      Someone gets it!

I'd also add, though, that I'd like for women and girls to feel comfortable with their sexuality, to be free of judgment when they choose to exercise their sexuality, and to feel in control of their sexuality. I'd like for men and women both to be able to reject rigid gender expectations without feeling threatened or pressured to hide those aspects of themselves. I'd like to see a world in which traits and behaviours traditionally considered feminine are not treated and seen as inferior. Where men aren't pressured to always be aggressive and maho and women aren't pressured into being doormats.

That's what feminism is to me, and anyone who doesn't want that world I just described can kiss my feminist, heterosexual, man-loving ass :)

@Sara413 How about if you let men decide if they want to be emotionally free or not. All men don't exist in places where being emotionally open is beneficial or helpful. A lot of women aren't attracted to emotional men and have no problem revealing that tidbit.

It's my experience that emotional people tend to be (more) fragile (with generations of grown adults melting down over topics that don't even make me blink = snowflakes) and get angry and depressed at/over a world that doesn't match their personal fragility level. They get visibly upset when facing vehement opposition to their opinions they post on the internet, and the more thin-skinned they are, the more they're willing to label hatespeech or harassment. I've been in several situations where I've thanked the heavens I'm not more emotional (bouncer for seventeen years).

And yet, a lot of women and a few men think being emotional is something to strive for. All I ever see it do is cloud their thinking and impair motor skills - people who break down crying more often are not emotionally strong. Ever watch people try to function normally while crying, and by function I mean do something simple, like eat a bowl of cereal or pour juice in a glass, without performing it less efficiently or masterfully as when calm. And do you know who else cries a lot? Children.

If the only emotion men feel is rage, then rage must be a spectrum emotion, because if you've never seen men be consoling, helpful, joyful, concerned, encouraging or simply level-headed, then I don't know which planet you're on. Oh, and most of us love to laugh due to having a sense of humor as well.

Egalitarianism is equality between sexes. Feminism is for women's equality to be equilateral to men. -_- I do not support any organization that allows only one kind of gender or sex in its group. Too much room for bias. Shaping the women the way the leaders want women to be shaped. Any men that are associated with these organizations always play an indirect role, and that is not fair.
Like it or not Men still to this day have it much harder than women.

"You wouldn't have the right to vote without feminists."

A friend of mine (she identifies as non-feminist) brought up a point about this. To paraphrase:

"I don't have to call myself a feminist just because they (actually the suffragists) won me the right to vote.

It's about the same as being expected to call yourself a 'workers' rights activist' because you don't have to work 12-hour days for mere pennies thanks to the workers' rights activists in the late 19th-century.

Or better yet, it would be like me having to go around and call myself a 'Whig' or 'Revolutionary' because 'We won our independence from the British Empire thanks to them'."

A pretty sharp point, I have to say.

THE TITLE OF THIS IS CALLED, "Feminism Is No Longer Important". Let me dumb it down for you. The annoying women who try to get "equal" rights (because every women has no rights apparently) are not the top priority in the USA. Aka United States of America. Now in third world countries where women can't go to school or have to cover their whole body in cloaks, that is good feminism.

It is needed. Not in western countries but there are countries where women get deathsentences for having a misscarriage etc.
America isn't the only country in the world. Just because things are good there and in Europe doesn't mean feminism isn't needed.

You sound just as annoying as most feminazis. If woman's place is in the kitchen, forget about bedroom business too?

By the way, Finland has had a female president, and other countries too. Go back to school.

Dude the gender wage gap never made sense to me. Like some people said it was true and others said it was not, I was always thinking "it should be pretty fuckin obvious to tell if two people are getting paid differently for the exact same job. That is not legal and so if they were doing that the employees could easily sue them."

Whether or not you are a feminist, equalist or whatever, why do people care which causes others choose to support? No one is upset with people who sponsor a child in Africa, no one is like "How can you just support children, when there are so many adults that need help. You have to support adults and children equally"? Why is it wrong to support women's issues?

I'm so happy the good feminists of GAG wrote you novels to explain things to you. This honestly just sounds like you're trolling, but unfortunately you're probably not. When I was younger, I thought a lot differently than I do now. I'm sure as you get older and open your mind, you'll realize how wrong you are now about a lot of things. I used to be stupid, sexist, and insensitive just like you are now. I really hope you grow out of it as you reach adulthood.

Teachers (public school) are the last people who should believe it exists. They work on a step system based on education and seniority. The more education you've completed, the higher step you're on. The more experience you have, the higher step you're on. Gender has absolutely nothing to do with it. Four first grade teachers doing the same job in the same school are very likely to be making different salaries. And more than likely all four teachers are women.

I agree with all of CHS's assertions about Feminism. But being anti-feminist doesn't automatically make one a traditionalist. People aren't looking for a return to traditionalist ideas. People want formal equality, not the old ways or the substantive equality espoused by modern Feminism.
