I can tell u why it is called America, though. Back in the day North America was just another part of the Americas. But when the people of the America that we know today, the U. S., the 13 colonies, when they rebelled and won independence, it was called America because it was the only independent region in that mostly colonized space at that time! People didn't start calling it the U. S. until about a century later!
