My Harsh Words For Trump’s New Law -and those that agree with it

I am a nurse assistant in a tough unit of a large hospital. I love my job. I can't see myself doing anything other than working in the medical field because this is what I was born for. I am not going to sugar coat it. Like I said, it’s tough. I have previous experience working in a nursing home but this unit is a whole different ball game. I love my coworkers and sometimes, eating In n Out with them in the break room at 2 am, is the only thing getting me through my shift. Or getting breakfast after our shift. I am not against putting vodka in my orange juice at 10 am.

I have cared for homeless people, transgender people, a man who groped me, religious radicals, dying men and women, gay men and women, mentally ill people, a woman who almost stuck me with a dirty needle, bisexual men and women, rapists, pedophiles, murderers, people who attempted to physically assault me or my coworkers, gang members, prostitutes, racists, etc. I think you get it now. Point is I care for all people from all walks of life. My job is not to judge my patients actions, lifestyle, or feelings. My job is to lift the sick and heal the broken.

So I think you can imagine I was horrified when I saw the new law Trump quietly signed. This law allows medical workers to refuse care to patients on the grounds of “religious liberty” or whatever the fuck religious people will use to validate this.

If you call yourself a Christian and you honestly think it's okay for a healthcare professional to not care or treat a patient simply because of their sexuality or gender identity, then I highly doubt there is a place in heaven for you. The fact that Trump signed this into law, means he is okay with it. And well I already said what I needed to say about those are okay with this.

And as for healthcare workers who refuse patients on any grounds, get the fuck out of this field. If I can care for a man who tried to kill me, you can care for someone who calls themselves female when they have a penis.

It’s too bad the law is above the Hippocratic Oath. However, I can assure you all right now, that this CNA will not turn anyone away. Ever. Of course because of the Hippocratic Oath, they can lose their jobs. Because of Trump, it won't beyond that and they will get away with murder.

How would religious people feel if we turned the tables and didn't do CPR on a dying person? See if your God saves you then.

Or to put in a way Trump supports should understand, I think I’m gonna sign up as a police officer. Oh but my religion forbids me from arresting people. But still I’m gonna patrol the roads and check out for criminals. Trump will surely protect my religious rights too. Right?

Right?

Hello?

This isn't as simple as wedding cakes and gay weddings anymore. Now the LGBT community’s health is at risk. Way back when, and by that I mean 50 years ago, if you were black or a person of color, a white hospital could refuse them because they’re racist. Well, it appears those days are back. I hope all of you who voted for Trump are fucking happy as you sit in your hatred and ignorance.
