This is somewhat of a rant. I'm so sick of feminism.

Feminism is defined as the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.

Ok... Western ladies, where are we not equal? Sure, pay is sometimes lower. That's something to be addressed.

But yes, let's go shirtless and braless. You think this won't encourage the rape numbers to go up? Sexual assault? Lets just walk around half naked now. Maybe it won't. But if I walk around with DDDs I'm pretty sure that may not be exactly safe for me, considering I already get harassed.

We have the right to vote.

We can join the army.

The sexes will never be 100% equal. We each take lead in different aspects of life.. Women are the ones who are typically viewed as the parent who rears the child. Men fight for our country. We have vaginas. We give birth. Men have penises. They give sperm.

If we want to be truly equal, why aren't we fighting for men to become pregnant and carry around our children? Why the fuck can't I have a penis? They're pretty fun to play with, I'd wank myself all day long. It's because my chromosomes are different. Mine are XX. Men's are XY.

Omg. Our chromosomes are different. It must mean men think they are better than us. No you dumbarses, they are just stronger than us in certain aspects. I sure as hell don't want to take a bullet for my country, I'll let my future hubby do that. But you can bet he can't give birth to our children like I can.

Abortions. Why don't men get a say? You think that's fair? I sure as hell don't. It takes two to lie down and make a child.. There should be 2 included in the decision to abort, not just the one carrying the child. You are both responsible for it.

Sure, some thing's aren't fair. I recognize wage differences. Sexism. It also isn't fair that women almost always get custody of children in parent splits. Fight for everyone to be equal, not just yourself. Why can't men give birth? Why can't we go half naked like men? Chill out America. Run around in a damn bikini if you want, but I am a woman and I sure as hell don't want to see your tits sagging, no more than I want you to see mine.

Why can't we fight for something that is still relevant today? Let's fight against racism. Let's fight for feminism for middle eastern women. Let's fight to have our cities repaired. I'm from Detroit and I photograph the city. When I share these pictures I get asked when I got pictures of a war zone. Let us change our focus to something more relevant, something that needs more attention than feminism, which is as far as it needs to go, while we sit blind to other countries, or even to our own countries needs. People still starve in America. Children are homeless. Who fights for them? Or are you too busy fighting to get that extra 100$ a year, than to stop and look at your own faults and selfishness?

Let's fight for something that actually matters ladies. Feminists have a great energy but that energy needs to be focused elsewhere right now.

1.) Your point about rape going up if women dress scantily. Seems like a form of victim blaming. IF I had a daughter I would recommend that she wear extra clothes, stay out of certain areas etc. However, that does not mean that there is not a problem in a society where a woman has to worry about being raped because of what she is wearing. I'll make an analogy. In certain countries a woman can, and often will be raped if she doesn't wear a cloth bag over her body. Would you say that feminists are wrong for saying that those women shouldn't be forced to wear such things? You're addressing the wrong thing here.
2.) No idea what biological functions have to do with being treated equally under the law.
3.) Biology has nothing to do with whether you can take a bullet, or pull a trigger. The Kurdish women just liberated a town saving thousands in part of our fight against ISIL (a woman's only protection unit)
4.) A man should not be in charge of what a woman does with her organs. Does a woman need her husband's permission to give away her kidney? No? Then how could he decide what she does with her uterus? I do have some questions about whether or not a man should be forced to pay for a child he did not want, but that's a separate issue.
5.) Feminists, at least in principle, should be fighting for equality between the sexes. They should be fighting against the discrimination of men in court proceedings about child-rearing, for example. Most feminists I know do this.
6.) Being a feminist is about a view on one particular issue, whether or not men and women should be treated equally under the law. You can't fault feminism for not dealing with racism or the poverty issue because they're two different things.

This is ignorant. You're pregnant from a one-night stand and suddenly that guy shows up at the doctor and tells you that you're having the baby. You have the baby. He hates you and leaves. You see, the problem isn't a matter of "say", it is a matter of practicality. Which is going to be stronger? "Yes" or "No"? Remember that the vote is always tied so someone has to have the final say unless you leave it up to the State (God, that isn't an option, so don't suggest a third party, spare yourself the embarrassment) so now you've got to do something and it isn't as if you have forever to resolve it.

Takes like this are bullshit because it's a person who is ready to rant about their worldview without actual solutions to the problems at hand. There is basically a 50/50 chance you'll come across a couple that is now shocked with pregnancy. And do you think humans are rational when shocked? How many people grow to love their children? Or vice versa thinking they want one and then hating parenting? I absolutely cannot stand when people reduce complex problems to mere political garbage without thinking it through.

Solve the problem. Solve it. Don't complain that it exists if you don't have a fucking solution. That's childish.

Oh, and to keep it straight, it isn't necessarily the "first child" either. This is significantly more complex when you've a parent who has two or three children and the couple is alright but suddenly a fourth comes to be in formation. They can't support it but the morals of parent A are in direct opposition of the morals of parent B, doesn't matter the sex of the parent, what do you do? What do you do? And this really happens by the way; it isn't whatever you painted your singular scenario to be.

Think harder.

The rest of it is the same problem by the way, you being assaulted because you have large breasts and are topless is INTOLERABLE not INTELLIGENT so no, that isn't the core problem, the real problem is that ultimately people have created a society where you feel afraid to take your shirt off. In many places around the world this isn't the case! No one cares!

If you make $.80 to the dollar, which isn't entirely accurate and there's many variables in there I won't cover, but you have periods you actually have a greater cost of living. Sadly for you just for being female your clothing costs more than mine. As do your beauty products and your pain meds for your menstrual cramps. Did I mention that they are almost all identical? A pink chemistry set will cost you more than a blue one and anything marketed to a woman typically costs more than if it were marketed to a man. You will find that your shavers and shampoos are more expensive even if they have the exact same chemical compositions than the version that is the males.

You think "I get paid a little less" I think "You get paid a little less and your shit costs more".

You have a problem. It is a real problem. And forget feminism this is a problem that needs a solution today. You are, in fact, poorer because you have a vagina.

I'm from windsor right across the river from you and I agree. The thing with unequal pay between men and women is that it doesn't take into account, career choices, doesn't differentiate between specializations in a field (family doctor isn't going to get a neurosurgeon's wage), amount of hours worked per year, and doesn't account for negotiating of wages. I'm sure there are places that descriminate but I doubt it's vast majority or north america.

I also agree with the abortion. Men are expected to pay for the child financially, but hav eno say in whether or not he thinks the girl who's pregnant with his child gets an abortion. If men have no say I'm fine with that, just make sure we're also not financially responsible for your choice.

I also agree that there are better things to be fighting against. Racism is one, homelessness, and poverty is another. I'm not sure how the economy is in Detroit but in Windsor it sucks. The only jobs you can get are in retail , fast food or factory and if Chrysler decides to ship out those factory jobs (90%+ of them feed into Chrysler) are also gone. Cheaper education is another thing we should spend our energy and resources fighting for, and affordable housing is another. The price of housing is ridiculous. A lot of millenials aren't expecting to be able to afford a house and it takes two incomes to mainly be able to afford a house. On top of this I feel like the genders are more or less dividing instead of coming together and as a result more people aare single, staying single and just enjoying life without a significant other (which is okay). Though I do feel like we should be fighting more for unison rather than divide which feminism brings.

I know and that's why I'm a little vague on unequal pays. I'm just entering the workforce, only have a little experience with it. I don't want to talk about it when I know nothing about it.

I disagree with abortion unless it threatens a life or was from rape or some other circumstantial instance like that. However, I know it will happen. Either safely or unsafely. So if it must happen, it should be considered by both parents. Too often I see questions like, "Why is he mad I got an abortion and didn't tell him, it's my body", or, "I got an abortion and didn't tell him and now he's acting funny". Women coming on here looking for validation for aborting their child without ever consulting the father. It is not something to be taken lightly - I know someone who's had 11 abortions, 3 miscarriages after those abortions, and 2 children, one before any of the abortions, and one after all the abuse on her body.

Detroit is horrible. You're lucky to get a job. I've tried 3 places this week, no where is hiring. I'm going to end up in fast food again. Many houses are burnt and rumbling. Drugs are out of control. I know someone who's always talking about black women rule the world, black women empowerment, this and that, another black shooting, white people are racist and this and that. It is so frustrating because there are so many people like that but who are unwilling to fix the problem. People like her just cause division. We are all equal, it's not black women rule, or white men rule, no. Skin and gender shouldn't even be something we think about. The shirtless thing is one example of why we need feminism. You're blaming women and how they dress on sexual harassment and crimes. When women's clothing isn't known as the cause of rape, when the wage gap is gone, when transgender women are respected, when girls aren't being sold off as sex slaves, when women living in the safest countries aren't afraid to go out at night alone, when all male groups aren't allowed to decide on what a woman has the right to do with her own body, when girls aren't taught that having muscles is "unfeminine", when there are hardly any women in action and science fiction movies that aren't just eye candy, then feminism can quit. Then I will wholeheartedly stand with you and say we do not need feminism anymore.

Until that day, don't say we don't need it. Because we do. Saying we don't while enjoying the fact that you can vote and you have an education is crapping all over the women who fought for those rights. I cannot tell you the amount of times 13 year old boys have been chosen over me for lifting things while I was forced to babysit because "they're stronger" despite the fact that they could hardly lift 5 lbs. It's always bothered me that men don't get a say. "It's my body I can do what I want", "I don't want children,", "it'll make me look fat"

Ok if it's a rape or something that will endanger one or both lives during the pregnancy, the mom should have total say. It is your body, but the body inside of you is not entirely yours. It is 50 you, 50 dad. I've actually never heard of men getting a say in abortions, ever, unless the women brings it up. But it's not a crime if a woman gets an abortion and doesn't say anything. And that I think is so wrong. It takes two to make a child, it should take two to terminate one.

It's not always hours worked. I do know people at my old job, taco bell.

One guy was making 12.50 an hour as a crew member.

One lady was making 11.

He gets bumped to 13.65 as a manager.

She gets 12.50 as a manager.

There are other examples I can include. And yes he worked more hours, but the hourly pay was different too. But seniority also needs to be taken into effect when comparing wages like this.

In my country it's against the law to pay someone a different wage based on gender, age or race as long as they don't negotiate their own contract. I've seen situations where what you said was the case but in those seniority came into effect and usually was because of a year wage increase for working there.

For the most part I take the wage gap as nothing more than a myth. Sure there are a few situations where someone maybe get payed more or less then someone else but that can be true regardless of gender. Definitely don't believe the 77 or 79 cent difference though. Seeing it doesn't seem to take into account hour worked, periods of leave, or really even the job being done. All they really did was how much money the average woman earns and how much money the average man earns and compared the figures. I would expect there to be a difference one way or another. Men could probably do the exact same thing and show that women work less them them too. In the end it's just useless numbers.

The only time feminism was needed was before 1920 when they got the right to vote. Everything else is just plain stupid. In terms of the national wage gap (which has been proven to be a hoax btw), if you work at the McDonald's, its illegal to pay 70 or 77 cents out of the dollar because of minimum wage. Any boss in those fields of jobs should be prosecuted if they do this. If your boss does this in any other job as well as sexually harasses you etc, you are not forced to stay, you can leave and look elsewhere. Honey I read the newspaper today. Two boys in school were caught fighting by the teachers. When the teacher asked why they did it, they said they liked the same girl and were fighting on who deserves her more.

I have been helped by feminism, I agree with that. - I have rights. But racism didn't go away after segregation ended. It took time. Just like sexism will take time to dissipate, even if all of our barriers are broken down.

That's what I'm saying. They're human too, why aren't more people fighting for them? If we truly want all women to be equal, then why aren't we shifting our focus to the women who are seriously under oppression still? It is because we are self absorbed and self pitying creatures. There was approximately 2 million women in the women's march this year. Imagine if those same women had just done something to help someone other than themselves. American women have it pretty damn good compared to other countries. We should put our efforts for ALL women, not just American snobs. Because here we are as fair as we can get right now, but other countries?

And whatever if you don't want to help other countries. But there are so many more people who need a lot more help than gender equality does. I understand, homosexual and bisexual people have a lot more struggles. That's something that should be fought for. But there are those who can't fight for themselves.

Imagine the possibilities if these if 2 millions minds were put together. There are millions more that didn't participate in the march around the country. Even if it was for something like helping veterans.

Those women have no power in those countries. They're not the world's police force. They're trying to improve things in their own country, so that they can see the benefits.

I still don't see why it falls to feminists. The state has power several orders of magnitude greater than any gathering of civilians; they could end homelessness and starvation if they chose to. But it falls to feminists to fix these problems? Not the government. Not the army. Not even the Red Cross or the millions of other charitable organisations.

It falls to the women who just don't want to be raped to fix society, the world, everything.

Maybe things would be better if humanity were a hive-mind that behaved in a strictly utilitarian manner. Probably not; we're not insects. But it just seems like a specious argument.

IMHO, there are still some issues affecting women that could be addressed, but they primarily address their roles as mothers, e. g., more income support for families, especially those headed by single parents, less expensive child care, and more flexible working arrangements.

Human trafficking affects mainly women, although yes men are affected too. However, if feminism is to continue in America it should be focused towards other things. Like ending human trafficking. Sex slavery. Hunger. World overpopulation. Use feminism to help those who actually need it, like women who don't have rights in other countries.
