I Don't Want an International Men's Day

Today is International Women's Day. I don't agree with exclusive holidays since it segments a population instead of bringing it together. Inclusive holidays where everyone celebrates allows for everyone to participate. Holidays that allow for individuals to not participate or feel excluded only serves to isolate the celebration to those involved.

All other demographics go uncelebrated, leaving those outside looking in feeling left out. Inclusive celebration is better than having non participants who don't feel welcome or even shunned.

Already the response from some men goes like "Men have the rest of the year". Many of us don't want our own day for our own gender. We already have too many sausagefests in our lives already, please don't give us another. We realize there are consequences to giving preferential treatment due to skin color or creed or gender, often having been already subjugated to those types of abuse. Plus who wants to look like this guy:

That's right, nobody. That's how women are coming across to men, as the guy above however they have their day so it's as if the guy above is now cramming his opinion down your throat by putting his opinion everywhere.

We need international men's day. The goal isn't to celebrate manhood but to raise awareness for things like the cancers and health risks men face.

There are plenty of men who aren't in the majority that are severely underrepresented and unlike "typical" minorities when people say that the world favors men they're collectively saying that [Rich, Majority] men have overwhelming amounts of power.

They're right. Patriarchy and really any hierarchy that's based on tiers hurts everyone. I don't mean to sound rude but none of the members of base level websites are members of any given oligarchy so until men can walk the earth without suffering for depraved social status, being encouraged to or stigmatized as ignoring their physical and mental health, not be abandoned in education (because education should be for everyone and is NOT a gender issue. That is just attacking children.) and also have a rational level of day in public matters rather than a sexist justice system with no objectivity in many cases regarding many issues I'm going to say that the day is necessary.

If everyday is Men's Day then why are so many hard working men coming home broke as he'll from underpaying jobs to lives that are truly not worth living? That's definitely not that Man's day. And worse if this is the general labourer, and it is, it's his fault somehow and the system must be upheld.

The world is oppressive to everyone.

In Japan, at least Okinawa they actually have a men's day, women's day and children's day. They're a party people. It's not at all about iclusivity. That's what I like about the way we do it. Personally I don't care that there is a day and not one for men. But I do dislike that there can't be one, because of the nature of the day. The same way you can't have a white history month.
