The Reason for our Differences

People have polarized themselves to be masters at what they do. A person can be a "jack of all trades" but most of the time they are also a "master of none". To get the best results, a person should dedicate most of their time to one job or task, which leaves little room for acquiring other skills. Humans have a history of successful civilizations that have prospered because of this setup

It is for this specific reason that we have specialists that do certain things. For example, a doctor is there to heal and a soldier is there to fight. Each is known for their unique contribution to the community.

The Reason for our Differences

This is why communication is extremely important to a society.

In ancient times, men were hunters while women were gatherers. Each contributed to their community. Men would be in charge of protecting the family while women were in charge of raising the children. Both genders needed each other. Each had equal value.

The Reason for our Differences

In today's society, things are a lot more complicated than they used to be. With the technology and advancements we have today, both men and women have the opportunity to take on the role of either "the hunter" or "the gatherer". Both men and/or women can raise the children. There are single parents that can raise children on their own.

The Reason for our Differences

Today, plenty of people put less effort into being housewives and more effort into their careers. They do not value raising children as much as they used to. People are often multitasking. The attention of these people is divided so thinly that their quality of parenting is dropping. The quality of their work is below par.

We value quantity over quality. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. Since we have a variety of skill sets, we become less reliant on each other. We can be more independent. There are more things we can solve on our own.

The Reason for our Differences

There are plenty of benefits of being a jack of all trades. Knowing a little bit of everything lowers the chance of running into a problem you can't solve. You can succeed in multiple things, not just one subject. You are also more valuable since your skills are widespread.
