That is completely false! Ada Lovelace was the first known computer programmer who helped start it all... In fact she invented an algorithm for a computer that didn't even exist yet!
And I am using a Mac, which Susan Kare worked heavily on.
Hedy Lamarr created frequency hopping, which is a method of sending radio signals from different frequency channels.

Oh and then there is Grace Hopper, who invented COBOL. Before its invention, computers spoke only in binary code which was illegible to humans. Her invention allowed there to be more programmers because more people could work the machines.
Radia Perlman created the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), which basically is the reason ethernet happened and she's often known with the title as the Mother of the Internet (however she humbly rejects that title, and says the internet came from many many people.)

Computing was actually originally a female dominated field, so I could go on for hours with names of great women who made the internet.

@myTakeOwner all thes are true but this comment thread here, has turned into a meaningless sexist debate. there is no superiority in genders. what were are talking about is gender roles. which are 100% established as genetically and neurologically different. not inferior or superior, different.
