Well looks like the slut walk is back at it again!

I actually agreed with the slut walk at first. I liked the positive atmosphere. I liked how women were trying to take back such a derogatory term and make it into something positive. I now cannot believe what I'm seeing. Three women topless in the middle of a park to prevent rape. Does that make any sense? No!

The main purpose of the Amber Rose's slut walk is to take back the word slut and give it a new meaning. My definition of a slut- A woman or man who sleeps with various men/women. Her definition of a Real woman (In other words a slut)- A woman who is owning her body. A woman who is empowered and comfortable in her own skin. A woman who doesn't care what society thinks of her. A woman who is not brought down by labels. A woman who sleeps with however many men she pleases.

I think that when we take all of that sugar coating off. The word is still the same. It is a woman who sleeps with a handful of men. It is a woman who is immoral and out of control.

The funny thing is they say they are trying to spread awareness to rape. Yet, they do it by parading around with no clothes on dancing on a stripper pole. What a lovely idea right? No, that doesn't make any sense.

I also believe that men can be sluts too. Men who sleep around are just as bad. It's wrong when men and women do it. It's a human thing to want sex, just don't do it when you're with someone. A woman/man who has had too many sexual partners is unattractive in my opinion.

I think this movement just to went way to far just like all the other liberal movements. Now it looks like it's mixed with the #METOO movement. Oh my! I'm just over it at this point.

I believe that REAL strong women have respect for themselves. REAL strong women don't need skimpy shorts and pasties on their breasts to feel "empowered". REAL strong women don't need to sleep with ten different men to feel "empowered". REAL strong women don't need all of these nasty things disguised as "empowerment"to feel strong. Listen if you're a slut okay own it!

Do I agree with that obviously not. I'm not going to deny your humanity for it. I just think that it's crazy that they think that this will actually solve anything? Dancing around naked in public to prevent rape and slut shaming. I just see it as a complete waste of time.

So this is what I got from this movement. As you have stated about taking back the word "slut" and how it is demeaning towards women and men. although this is mainly a women's issue,

one of their point is that male sluts do not get the same ridicule as women. Men praise other men about how many people they slept with. In contrast women are seen as dirty or filthy or unfit to be any mans woman.

Another point is that most of history men dictate what women should or should not wear. Now this goes into the nudity statement because guys can be topless but women cannot. The bra was an invention however, the purpose is not clear and can be seen throughout history for different uses. And one argument against bra are because breasts actually can hold themselves up without bras and that bras can actually make them saggy overtime or long use. There is a lot of history behind this like how it was popularized and why the meaning and image of bras have changed overtime.

In addition to the topless or nudity unfairness is the "slutty" clothing. Guys can wear tight fitting clothing or be topless or wear short shorts or more revealing clothing and gain attraction and attention then they will not be harassed by women. and even if they do it is generally accepted. While on the other hand, if a women dressed in similar clothing style and may be equally as revealing then or not (tight fitting cloths) then they will still get harassed. And we can see this not only in the US but around the world. Women will get harassed more if they want to dress "sexy" or "slutty." Yes, however, their argument is that when men dress "sexy" or "slutty" they don't get harassed like they do and which could lead to sexual violence. So it asks the question of Why do women have to face harassment when they dress up? why are they to blame for someone else impulsiveness and unwanted advances. As Adults they are seen as mature and in-control of their action. But that is clearly not true, and they want equality.

How? well that's a good question because you can't just erase hundreds if not thousands of years of dominance over women's looks, style, and behaviors. And the same is true about men. Historically men have power over women, and men pay for sex more than women. In America women had to fight for their right to vote.

Although their way of communicating their movement is controversial, it is hard to argue that isn't meaningful and I think it is meaningful.

This "counter-measure" sounds utterly ineffective, even counter-productive.

Obviously, civilized people will already act civilly… but rapists, sexual harassers, and sexual assaulters (by definition) aren't civilized people: They're mindless dogs & wolves, who don't care about civility if meat is in front of them. The point to their actions is that rape is not justifiable. Meaning just because the victim may be making not so wise choices, it does not mean they deserve to be hurt and forced to have sex. MANY victims feel like when they open up about their story, people are so quick to say "well if u didn't do this or that, it would not have happened" or "you should not of gotten that drunk or hung out with that person"... These protestors are rising pass that mindset, (some of it is a little far). But, being shirtless does not mean a women should be pinned down and hurt. I have been blamed by family memebers and close friends for what happened to me. My friend was recently blacked out drunk and then got raped by a close family friend and her brother blamed her for it happening... To understand what these people are protesting you need to listen to their storys, if you dont you are in no place to speak bc u dont have understanding on the matter. Being emapthitic to people who go through trauma is easier said then done for people. Just bc you assume that everyone has empathy and acts sad for these victims, doesn't mean its tru. A lot of victims admit to people instantly having responses of "well it wouldn't of happened if you did this" or "well you should move on now". It does happen. Many victims admit it... It's compatible with empathy. And it's pretty much the ideal resolution for the vast majority of problems in that area. It's just a question of when to introduce the idea and start them thinking that way. It just sounds shitty to the patient because they reflexively cling to or run from their trauma rather than digest it. Of course they don't want to hear that they have to adapt, that's why it's hard, but that's what they ultimately need to do.

natural feelings of ptsd. Yes they need help, but if you have a friend or anyone close to you with ptsd or traumatic stress, please just be patient, listen a little more, try to be empathetic. Telling someone to get help is only part of the solution if you want to be supportive.

Well they do have to get over it eventually, that's always the goal. The alternative is to want them to never be able to get past it, which is obviously a toxic thing to want.

That's an argument against encouraging them to hold onto those feelings. They are unwanted feelings, that's what makes them part of the condition and you would ideally aim to get past them.

There's a difference between being supportive and pandering to their illness, the point is never to nurture their pain so that it will fester. I think people being overly "supportive" is even more frequently an issue that people not being supportive. Many people, even professional, will validate and reinforce the patient's anger, pain and depression such that it gets worse, even causing them to develop comorbid conditions.

Flashbacks aren't just getting images of the event. They come with many feelings and its a chronic illness. Even therapists won't tell you how to not get flashbacks but rather how to get through it. Bc you can't predict when it happens or really stop them. So when you say well they shouldn't hold onto those feelings, im saying to you, they can't help it. It comes with the menatl break downs, the flashbacks, and the panic attacks. No one wants these feelings too and no one wants pitty, but victims, including myself, also hate hearing people like you, sit here, trying to tell theme "how to get over it," when you prolly dont understand the feelings a traumatic victims feels, and what literally comes with the illness and i say that due to your ignorant responces on what victims should do. any victim hates when people say "well just get over it" bc their traumatic stress dibilatates that. I would agree with you partially in that what you said applies to us, civilized human beings.

The problem with this is that rapists, sexual harassers, and sexual assaulters aren't civilized human beings: They're animals, like mindless dogs and wolves. They don't care about civility if meat is in front of them. Sadly, some of these predators are well-trained & wear civilized-human clothing, so they aren't always easy to identify.

So instead of tying raw meat to themselves, rendering themselves vulnerable to any hidden wolves hidden in plain sight among the rest of us, and potentially insulting actual civilized people (& reducing their good will) by generalizing us to be in the same level as these animalistic dogs; maybe they should be pro-active in their own self-defense by actively reducing chances of attack, arming themselves, learning to knock-out (or, at least, "fend-off") hidden dastards, and IMMEDIATE reporting to (& proper evidence gathering for) police to ensure conviction.

While not a home-burglary, theft is still theft: When my notes, backpack, and everything in it was stolen the day before the semester final-exams, the police lectured me on "crimes of opportunity" (& the importance of not giving criminals an opening/opportunity) and, even without that, I knew within myself that my decision to leave my valuables unattended during a 1hr-break for an interesting read on a distant shelf was an obvious factor.

Have you reported this to your employer? Your pharmacy has surveillance cameras at your workstation, right? Your employer has to protect you. If not, BOTH your employer AND the perpetrators are guilty of violating the "Sex Discrimination Act" (assuming you're in Australia).

I told my manager and because he gets scripts filled with us we have his name.
When I was 19 I met up with some friends for after work drinks and had to catch a later train from the city to the station where my car was parked. I got off the train and a guy walked up next to me and said that if he had his mates with him he would've raped me, they all would've had a turn. Here's what I was wearing not that it matters " a full length spaghetti strap dress" there really wasn't anything revealing about it. So yes I learnt my lesson that night that I can't catch a train by myself even though I should be able to.
A guy tried to force himself onto me on a 1st date, I was wearing a skirt that was bellow my knees. Lucky for me a passer by noticed that I was in trouble and pulled the guy off me.

I’ve never known a slut to do it just because they want to, not does it make them feel good (beyond the moment). It’s almost always more deep issues that they manifest into inhealthy behavior. Women being topless is 100% legal where I'm from, so sorry not shocked and horrified by boobs. It's like nude beaches anyone who has been to one can tell you that within a few minutes you just get over the nudity. And for all the responders saying what were you wearing is a legitimate question during an investigation, why is it almost always brought up during the criminal trial? A defense lawyers' number one method of attacking the accuser is to portray them as a slut who obviously couldn't have said no. An alleged victim's clothing is not pertinent to the trial. People get raped in a variety of clothes and clothes are not an invitation.
