Let me tell you my story, my mom was laid off when I was young, she struggled to get another job because jobs in her field were sparce and when she got desperate and went to work for fast food places they told her she was, "overqualified" meaning to fucking old and slow to work there. So we were poor most of the time

we moved in with my sister for more oppurtunity and guess what I did when we first got here? I GOT UP OF MY ASS, I put on a dress shirt and a tie, and I went around looking for jobs. Home depot, Target, Petsmart, GMC vitamins, Chilles, Rooms to go, Office max.....I WENT EVERYWHERE AND THEN WENT HOME TO FILL OUT APPLICATIONS. NOBODY CALLED ME BACK FOR WEEKS. And when I went into some of these places they didn't treat me fairly. GEE FUCKING WEE I WONDER WHY?

The message to young people is that there are things you can do to avoid poverty. 1) Finish High School or get a GED. 2) Stay in a job for a year. 3) Don't have a child before you're married. You are very unlikely to end up poor if you have accomplished these three. Even having done the above, life can deal you misfortunes that can lead to poverty. Health issues, natural disaster, crime victim etc can be disastrous. Having insurance can mitigate some of this but people working their way out of poverty often don't have funds for insurance.

No, not all poor people are lazy. A lot of people grow up in environments that stacks the deck against them. But there are plenty of stories of people who grew up in that situation that have made something of themselves. Not saying it's easy. Especially when you pick up bad habits at a young age and don't have good role models, or grow up in poverty. But once again, it's possible to overcome any of that with the right approach, mentality and drive. A lot of people just accept or believe that no matter what they do, this is the hand they were dealt and they are relegated to living a life of poverty. It's true that you can't control the hand your dealt, but you can control how you play that hand. There are opportunities out there for anyone motivated enough to pursue them.

It might make you feel good to have someone sympathize with you and talk about the injustices of society, but that and fifty cents will get you a kmart cola. Im the only one that has told you that you have the capability to move yourself up on the economic ladder.
