The Voting Rights Act of 1965, signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, aimed to overcome legal barriers at the state and local levels that prevented African Americans from exercising their right to vote as guaranteed under the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Voting Rights Act is considered one of the most far-reaching pieces of civil rights legislation in U.S. history.

Why is this important as well. Since "Black History Month" is over. Voting has been an issue and suppressed for a group of individuals

During the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s, voting rights activists in the South were subjected to various forms of mistreatment and violence. One event that outraged many Americans occurred on March 7, 1965, when peaceful participants in a Selma to Montgomery march for voting rights were met by Alabama state troopers who attacked them with nightsticks, tear gas and whips after they refused to turn back.

Wasn't bloody Sunday when a bunch of British Paratroopers fired into peaceful protestors in Northern Ireland and got off scot free with murder of innocent people, some of them no more than Teenagers

@InTimoreDei you probably despise them more when they did the same shit to everyone else, I always wondered why many people Irish, Arabs, blacks and Indians despise the Brits, but looking at history it makes sense.

Bloody Sunday was a day of violence in Dublin on 21 November 1920, during the Irish War of Independence. members of the Auxiliary Division and RIC opened fire on the crowd at a Gaelic football match in Croke Park, killing or fatally wounding fourteen civilians and wounding at least sixty others. That evening, three Irish republican suspects being held in Dublin Castle were beaten and killed by their captors, who claimed they were trying to escape.

Bloody Sunday, sometimes called the Bogside Massacre,[1] was an incident on 30 January 1972 in the Bogside area of Derry, Northern Ireland, when British soldiers shot 28 unarmed civilians during a protest march against internment. Fourteen people died: thirteen were killed outright, while the death of another man four months later was attributed to his injuries. Many of the victims were shot while fleeing from the soldiers and some were shot while trying to help the wounded. Other protesters were injured by rubber bullets or batons, and two were run down by army vehicles.[2][3] The march had been organised by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA). The soldiers involved were members of the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment, also known as "1 Para".
