Prejudice really needs to stop and I have a solution

19 year old guy is friendly with 16 year old girl= Paedophile

Person enjoys a sex scene in a anime= Rapist

Girl wears light clothing= Slut

Person wears a turban= terrorist

It's stupid and you may laugh thinking these are jokes but they are real, I am friends with a 16 year old girl and we have grown up knowing each other and no jokes, someone actually said that because I am so friendly with her they think I am a child groomer or trying to date rape her.

As for the sex scene part in a anime, this one is absolutely ridiculous, you don't say someone is going to be a sex offender if they watch a movie that has sex scenes in it do you, so why if you watch a sex scene in anime, huh?

I am rather angry about this one, why are girls not allowed to have light clothing without people thinking they are "Easy" or "Sluts" or "Gold diggers" it makes no sense, they like how they look, they want to wear that, it's comfy for them, let them wear it in peace for god sake!

I am so upset knowing that people have this ideology but it does exist, linking Turbans with terrorists feels stupid, say some random killer got arrested and they were wearing a beanie, yould you link everyone wearing a beanie with a murderer? If a person was caught robbing a shop and had a snapback cap on, would you assume every person who wears one is intending on robbing someone?

So here's the answer...

Prejudice is a disease which has taken place in society and while at first it may be natural and sometimes we may not be able to help ourselves at first glance. But that doesn't mean we continue being prejudice. We should think:

"Hold on a minute, yes they're a little different to me but they're still a human being- why don't I go see what they're about? Rather than just judging."

And learning about different people actually makes us smarter people.

I'll give you an example. Me and my best friend are completely different at first glance.

I'm brown.
She's white.

I've got long black-ish/brown-ish curly hair.
She has short blonde straight hair.

I'm a Muslim.
She's an atheist.

I love eating meat.
She's a veggie xD

I spent my childhood in a multicultural diverse city.
She spent her childhood in a city which was not multicultural or diverse.

And we met in Year 10. Now we could have easily been prejudice against each other. She's never really met any Asians or Muslims before, and I'd never met a vegan before.

Now because of our differences like I said, we could have easily been prejudice against each other. But we weren't. And we talked, we became friends, then we became good friends, then great friends and today she's my best friend.

I taught her a lot about our Pakistani/Asian culture, and she learned more about Muslims- and she taught me about where she grew up, her Hungarian background- and her veganism.

If we'd both been prejudice we would have missed out on an amazing friendship- she's basically like the sister I never had.

So to those who are prejudice:

Being prejudice is basically a barrier.

You really don't know what you're missing out on if you choose to be blinded by prejudice. You could be missing out on an amazing friendship. You're stopping yourself from being educated. You're keeping your mind narrow and closed when you could easily open it up and expand it.

Just because someone is different doesn't mean they're a threat. Just because you don't know about somebody's difference doesn't mean their difference is a threat.

It means it's something you can learn about and expand your mind on ;)

And before I end this lengthy-ass opinion...

I actually thought this was part of my post! :D Loved it though, thank you for spending so much time on it!

I am a little annoyed, not at you or anyone but the website since this post was actually double the length, I spent an additional hour finishing it and when I submitted it, it didn't include it, so I am adding it all again and changing the title so that it doesn't say I already have a post called that.

I never heard the rapist and terrorist stuff. In my country guys that watch anime with sex in it is just seen as a creepy perverted guy (anime isn't very well considered by many girls here).

Unfortunately, (FORTUNATELY) I live in LA SoCal. Racism might still exist but racists are hiding. Discrimination is blatantly visible only across one color line. The GREEN one. Money helps money and no money help each other. Weight of Black, White, Brown, Yellow is of little consequence when determining when and how much help to give or receive. On the contrary, at which end of the Green line the person in need is perceived to associate with, absolutely has an impact on the if, when & how much help the person may anticipate.

Prejudice is taught, we are not born that way. It does seem to be a normal way of life unfortunately but I think society and our government is to blame. sometimes personal experiences can influence prejudice but it shouldn't. If you want to let prejudice cloud your mind, you may as well become a hermit. All alone trusting no one. Sad and lonely, not the life I want. That's not natural.
