The time is drawing near when I will give my report to God. It ain't pretty and your species will disappear. I've been researching human arrogance for decades and you're (as a group) responsible. Animals have a single priority: Food. Been that way since the beginning, and that's where territories come from and the concept of war became universal.

As humanity got "smarter" people finally had the brains to ditch this old, competitive system and cooperate for the common good. Groups tried this and they all failed. Might made right and it still does. Too many of the old, hard wired ways are within your brains and when times are tough you revert to violence and justify it. That's NOT what's supposed to happen. People ARE smart enough to work together for the common good but it's easier not to. And you call yourselves "civilized". How nice.

Modern humans have inhabited the planet for a very short time. They have turned much of the planet into a shithole and refuse to reverse this trend. This strongly indicates that people must evolve beyond their current state and the "fight or flight" response must be eliminated. That kind of change has taken many thousands of years in the past and humanity is out of time. The needed evolution CAN happen but not soon enough. Everything will have to start from scratch, and that takes a long, long time.

People WERE given everything they needed to co exist with Nature and thrive. They just took the easy way out and that will lead to extinction. Now, please tell me why that's a bad thing?

Do you know why that is? What kinds of people live/lived and thrive in nature, and live sustainably? Uncivilised people - barbarians.

Which people refuse to reverse this trend? Civilised people. Because turning back these trends would require a dramatic ratcheting down of their "quality of life". By quality of life I mean luxury and comfort. It's civilised people who are causing the destruction of the world, and they're also the people who are going to suffer the most when the system begins to fail.

It won't cause extinction, and it won't be because the entire world has been destroyed. We won't get that far before the global system collapses. Most people will not survive the collapse however because they won't be prepared at all.

You said "you call yourselves civilised" like that's a good thing, it isn't. The funny thing is that most of your ideas here are civilised ideas also.
