“Black Lives Matter” from a white guy...

it needs to be acknowledged
it needs to be acknowledged

Now I’m white, male, 34 and I live in America. I have to admit and realize that I grew up with white privilege even despite having an abusive and neglectful parent..

I was attacked as a kid for not being black in black neighborhoods and schools.. that shit happens.. but as I grew older I learned the sad ugly truth behind all that hate.. those kids hated me because I could never know what they had to deal with every day. -Being black in America.

I’ve seen it slowly “get better” if you can even call it that, only to quickly get worse. When I first heard “Black lives Matter!” I thought, “oh boy, here we go..” and I sadly knew that things would decline as they have. Our police are not the only problem. White privilege is not the cause, but it was born from the root.. we need to reset. We need a new regime. We need respect and equality and dignity to be the foundation of how we interact with each other and not a carrot to be dangled.

If you’re black and you’re reading this, please know that this 34 year old white man admits that his life is easier for no justifiable reason and for that I am truly sorry. I pray that you will soon see a day where the only concern you have for your skin is whether or not you put on sunblock before going outside. You’re my equal, I claim no superiority over you, and I am embarrassed that the governing powers of this nation do not see you as they should. Please be encouraged. You are not unseen.
