If there's a country better than the United States (when being run properly), then what is it and why?

(This was originally a normal question here, but got too big and too full of information, so I was forced to make it into a MyTake.)

Okay. I KNOW I'm opening a can of worms on this one, which is why I'm blocking anonymous comments right away. WHAT COUNTRY ON EARTH IS BETTER THAN THE UNITED STATES AND WHY?

I'm from the United States, but I'm not jingoistic or blind to its faults and flaws. CURRENTLY, no, the US isn't doing so well. It has Communists trying to use Ideological Subversion and Active Measures to destroy the country from within, like a virus. (And yes, 99% of this is coming from the far-left.) HOWEVER, when functioning properly and not run by Communists, the US is the best country in the world. Why?

Because of the US Constitution, the strongest governing manual in the world.

Because of the right to bear arms, so we don't end up like China or Australia 2021.

Because of the freedom of expression so strong and vast, we can have people freely state they hate their country, want to assassinate their president, and other things, without being jailed for it.

Because people can exchange ideas so strongly, it can even affect pop culture and our way of life.

Because you have 50 different states to choose from, each with their own form of government. Some are as far-left as California and New York, and some are as right-leaning as Wyoming and Utah. And then some swing states in the middle, like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, and Florida. There's a place for everyone.

So now, what places on Earth might be better than the US? Scandinavian countries, like Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden? Yes, they are happy, but they are also extremely homogenous (not "diverse"), and they also are all encouraged to think the exact same way as well (very left-leaning, not "intellectually diverse"). But okay; maybe Scandinavia is better than the US?

Ireland? Is that country better than the US? It might be, but I never hear anyone from Ireland talk good about Ireland. Plus it is small, not that wealthy, and has no diversity.

Germany? I doubt it. Not with their Draconian restrictions on free speech and expression. It is very much a PC country that you're not allowed to go outside the status quo of.

Hong Kong? Not after China invaded it. But before 2019, it might have been a great country.

Australia & New Zealand? With very high cost of living and no more freedom in the post-COVID landscape? No. Australia had government problems and restrictions on free expression even before COVID.

Canada? America Lite? No, because they lack the freedoms the US have, even if they're more peaceful and less violent. Canada is definitely one of the top ten in the world, but not better than the US.

South Korea, where I live? Or Japan? Where kids have to go to school 8-12 hours a day and citizens are so over-worked and under-paid, it's one of the highest suicide countries in the world (tied with Japan, which is pretty similar to Korea). No. It's a country where you are over-worked, all the time.

The United Kingdom? Not to be mean or rude, but it's literally a more inferior version of the US in every single category. Including freedom of expression, and education. Maybe the UK has better healthcare, though.

And let's talk about America's faults, as well, because we DO have some. But they're easy to point out: Government incompetence and corporate greed. However, these are the only two issues we have. The first issue, our horrible, HORRIBLE politicians, are not just limited to the US, though. Many countries around the world, if not all of them, have awful, terrible federal politicians, as well. Canada, Germany, South Korea, and pretty much every country I've listed. Our politicians are just more... Colorful. And cartoonish.

But the America's MAIN issue, is the corporate greed and overreach of power. Which affects Washington, and affects things like our subpar healthcare system, and education system (can't keep all that money to yourself if you have a nation of educated, intelligent workers, instead of uneducated burger flippers). So yes, I propose that almost all of the US's issues would be gone if we cracked down on corporate greed, bribes, lobbyists, and other forms of financial corruption.

Capitalism is what makes America one of the greatest countries on Earth, but it's also our downfall in many ways. Letting people like Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey hold more power over our lives than the president of the United States, who at the time was Donald Trump. And the heads of Facebook and Twitter banished him off the internet.

So, like I said, the US IS NOT PERFECT! This is why I said, in a healthy time, without such corporate greed and overreach in government, the US would be a perfect country. It's probably been at least 20 years since America was healthy and free, though. (Yes, you can argue it's been sick since they shot JFK; but that's for another time and place.)

So what countries are better than a healthy and fully functioning United States? (Not post-2014 US, but let's just say, the US of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.) As long as there's no pointless America-bashing, I'm open to hearing what other people think.

I can see some parts through your take that are good though I disagree about Germany in the kind of that we aren´t allowed to go outside of the status quo. That´s simply not true, yes we have a rather homogenous general social opinion but there are also right-wing and left-wing exceptions. There are things that make America great, but there are things that I feel like I don´t need. For me personally I feel safe in a country where no one is allowed to wear guns or rifles besides the police. You could disagree on that because it goes against your experience.
There are also benefits of living in Germany as there are benefits living somewhere else for me my picture of the US is influenced by the flaws of it. Like all the shootings the fact that both big parties are more interested in working against each other than working together. The fact the US society seems to be so split up that a Democrat isn´t willing to date a Republican voter and vice versa.

The United States still is one of the best countries in the world. However we do need to improve our prison system and also give citizens the absolute right to act in self defense. We also need to abolish extradition as many innocent people can fall victim to it.

The only other countries that might come close to replicating America are

• Germany has a good balance of human rights, law enforcement, technology and wealth but is dealing with far left wing bullsh*t like most Western European countries
• Norway: Best prison system in the world but has kind of strict gun laws. Not as strict as Japan’s or South Korea’s though,
• Switzerland Europe’s Texas but is too expensive
• Japan: A fairly safe and technologically advanced country but has too strict gun laws that only allow the purchase of Shotguns and rifles
• Taiwan: Has good medical care but has a gargantuan red menace as a neighbor
• some Latin American countries: Good climate, food, women, music and fashion but unfortunately are poor countries.

There are not one, but many, many countries better than the US. It’s far from the ideal place where our predecessors came and established looking fir a better like. Now I feel at least in my case that it is offers only a dismally better outlook than the one from the country I grew up in. I've always been an American, but I spent my childhood in a country where the government definitely is well structured as here in the US, corruption not only runs rampant~ it is how many people survive. Crime rate is still higher and goes unpunished in most cases given that the right amount of bribes are distributed appropriately.
However, there are many other things that make it so much easier to live in. For example: I wasn’t getting discounted +/- 30% taxes directly from my paycheck, most of which I don’t get to see. In the US, laziness, lack of control over one’s sexual behavior, and in general being unprivileged, or more like “appearing to be unprivileged”; is highly remunerated. It’s not something I came up with. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, asking people that receive this benefits in the amount that doubles and sometimes triples my income, which may not be an executive manager salary but it is well over the US median income. So, without being classist or privileged or racist , just stating the facts that I see; I do want to express that this country may offer things that are otherwise unthinkable of in other countries, but it is also lagging way behind other countries, at least 20, with better benefits

In many ways, I haven't recognized my country since Adolf Nixon and Benito Reagan. People like the Bushwhackers, and the orange shitstain have allowed the fascists in our government to flourish. McKKKonnell and Cruzistan are trying to do what Hitler and his PR department did to grab control of Germany. There are some Scandinavian countries that have a better system of government, based on such works as the Magna Carta.
I'd rather stay and fight to better my country, mainly because I don't speak Viking.

Well, most Western countries aren't controlled by the pharmaceutical companies, they have free (or at least affordable) and efficient health care, the students in their educational establishments can find their own nation on a map of the world, they're not overflowing with guns (and on a related topic, they don't have a school massacre every week), they're not so conceited that they actually believe that "God blesses" them, most of their citizens have actually traveled abroad and have passports, they aren't obese, they use the metric system, and their governments aren't controlled by the MIC (military industrial complex).
So yes, plenty of countries are better than the U. S.

Diversity is divisive, As a white guy watching my country accept massive amounts immigration It has be so quickly I've become concerned for the safety of my children. Angela Merkel Invited African and middle eastern migrants and was flooded by 1.3 million of them. A massive crime wave ensued. Rapings, bashings, Arson etc. Now Merkel has declared the Multiculturalism has failed is now the question is how do they undo a mess like that?

Hard to say... and I really think it depends on one's class and profession. But usually, if there's a good place in Europe, there's a better version of that in one of the states.
