Simple Reality--The Left doesn't want Safe Schools.

Many of you have been hearing all about the need to make schools safe from mass shootings, and how we need sweeping legislation to ban this firearm or that firearm or raise the age to buy one, etc. And you've been dutifully assured you're for mass bloodshed if you don't agree.

Yet the simple reality is revealed--the Left in the USA doesn't care a wink about schools or children, and have no interest. It's merely a means to an end. How do you know this to be true? Simple. The Left is against making schools safer or having solid security in schools *now*. They'd much rather bring it up as a political issue for an election and to push for gun bans. Look at how they're already reacting to the simple immediate solution of protecting schools better.

Here's the thing. Even if the Left got their wish and all rifles were banned tomorrow, there's over 400 million guns in the USA alone. Is Joe Biden thinking they will all magically vaporize tomorrow and schools will immediately be safe?

Think about it. Joe Biden is up there lamenting the death of children being killed, so emotionally. But is he game to immediately take action and increase security at schools to actually protect children, now? No. There's no urgency to his action--he wants a political issue for November. He doesn't want to take steps to save lives--he wants as many deaths as possible for his end goals of gun bans. If he actually cared about saving lives, he would do everything possible to protect schools, and that would include actually protecting children.

Think about it this way. If you were saying a roaming stray dog was threatening your puppy or cat, would you simply decry it and say someone needs to find the dog and catch it? Or would you take steps to protect your dog/cat immediately, such as putting a fence up, or keeping them safely indoors, or only letting them out when you are right nearby? Wouldn't it ring hollow "I am so concerned about this wild dog... but I am unwilling to take any action beside demanding animal control find it! I am unwilling to take any immediate steps to protect my puppy/cat myself."

Joe Biden doesn't want safe schools. He simply wants to seize civilian firearms, and couldn't care less about schools being safe.

I don´t think that stronger doors and fences around the school would actually be helpful because it makes seem more secure but make schools look barricades and turn the self called land of freedom into a military department.
Besides that such an investment would be very expensive as there are about 100.000 schools in the US according Wikipedia. If you calculate with about 1million each school in security equipment that would mean an investment of 100billion dollars nationwide.
Have you figured in which sector of government you have wanna save money to manage that investment.
Like what other options? Why not actually in counseling instead of a swat at schools that would actually give students with suicidal thoughts the options to talk to someone.
Plus many students don´t feel secure around police than it´s time for other options.

What's even more relevant is that the left have been installing District Attorneys that refuse to prosecute crimes - including many violent crimes - and especially refusing to prosecute those with long criminal records. They're pushing for no cash bail (releasing criminals while they await trial, even if they are dangerous or likely to flee before their trial). They are the party that allowed riots to continue for more than a year, with few arrests and far fewer prosecutions, and pushed to Defund (and in some cases to Disband) The Police.

Now they want you to believe that they are concerned about your safety as they violate the Constitution. Safety is ALWAYS the excuse given when our rights are taken away, and history is full of examples of the outcome: mass murder of citizens by their own government.

A lot of the Left assume that if that did happen, it's no big deal because THEY would be safe, being on the "correct" side - but that's only because they don't read history. In fact, when Marxist regimes come to power, among the first to be put against the wall and shot are their own supporters, as well as academics and political activists.

The logic in this myTake is way off. The problem with the argument in your post about the left not caring about school safety or children is that it fails to understand that more than one way exists to achieve a goal. Simply because some individuals with “left-wing” views disagree with “increasing security” in schools does not mean that they don’t care about school shootings. The possibility exists that they believe in other solutions to reduce school shootings. By “increased security,” I assume you mean having armed security guards on school grounds. In that sense, increasing security would do little to reduce the amount of school shootings that occur in the United States. The possibility exists that school shooters could still kill as many students as possible before security can respond, they could carry military-grade weapons and tactical gear to make themselves harder to kill, (much like what the young White supremacist Payton Gendron did when he shot up the grocery store in Buffalo), they could shoot from a vantage point as opposed to the school itself, shoot before or after school hours, and/or the actual armed security guards could also be the perpetrators.

If by “increased security,” you also mean the use of metal detectors and guards searching students for weapons, such would also likely fail, waste school time, and wouldn’t be cost effective for tax payers. A school shooter could easily kill the guard at the gate if he or she wanted to, and/or still find ways to sneak guns within the school, just as prisoners often easily sneak contraband through jail. In addition, as mentioned before, a school shooter could also shoot students from a vantage point or do so after school hours rather than enter the school itself. Because of the amount of tax dollars required to be spent to implement this “increased security” in schools and the likelihood that it would fail, it’s simply not cost effective and is a waste of money, as added security would only result in school shooters excogitating more methods to execute their school shootings. The issue at hand here is that solving the problem of school shootings is not something that can be solved politically, meaning no logical reason exists to attack the “left” or the “right” for their views on the matter.

Whether we “increase security” or “implement more gun control,” a dedicated shooter would still discover ways to bypass such changes. Instead, the problem of school shootings must be solved as a social and cultural issue. We need to research why people are prone to shooting schools and do what we must as a community to counter such reasons. For example, according to various studies, many school shootings occur because the perpetrator was often bullied in school. As a result, the bullied student executes his or her school shooting as an act of revenge. Thus, one of the main ways to combat school shootings is to have teachers spot bullying and stop it, punish the bullies severely for their actions, and parents, guardians, and so forth should teach their children how to stand up for themselves and not allow others to bully them. If we notice a person that is mentally unwell or hurting in some fashion, people should get that person help and positive attention rather than demean him or her. No matter the cause, if we can do research and uncover why most people commit school shootings and counter those reasons, then school shootings are very likely to decrease, regardless of our political views.

A dedicated person willing to lose their life will ALWAYS be an incredibly dangerous threat - but that's not really what most school shooters are. The majority of school shooters pick schools specifically because they are SOFT TARGETS - "gun free zones" with a very low chance of anyone being able to defend themselves. Over the last 30 years in the US, just under 90% of all mass shootings have taken place in locations where victims are not legally able to protect themselves - "gun free zones" such as schools and churches primarily.

Obviously around 10% are exceptions to that, but you'll never get that number to zero - there will always be criminals and always a few people who are prepared to die in order to kill. We need to do our best to stop those few by other means - but we can and SHOULD address REAL, PRACTICAL solutions to the vast majority. The Left's solutions (which "gun free zones" are one) clearly do not work, and in fact, make the problem worse instead of better. But the Left wants to double-down on that plan, because, in reality, they care much less about the victims and much more about the politics. They don't want an armed populace that can stop their tyrannical acts, and they're willing to spend the lives of kids or anyone else (but themselves) to achieve their goals.

As I mentioned previously, the solution to school shootings isn’t political; it’s social and cultural. To stop future school shootings or at least drastically lower their numbers, we need to change how we raise our kids, how we punish bullies, how we treat those with mental disorders, and how we interact with people as a whole. Stopping school shootings isn’t something that can happen with a single piece of legislation, whether it comes from the Democrats or the Republicans. Instead, it’s an ongoing process that takes time to see results.

20 years ago, tiny Vermont was the only state in the union where every non-felon adult could carry a gun with no permit, and concealed carry permits were only universally issued in a few states. Today, most states have "shall issue" carry permits and 24 of 50 states now have Constitutional Carry (no permit required). During this period, violent crime, including gun crimes, have FALLEN significantly, despite FAR more guns on the streets. In fact, the only places it hasn't fallen are in cities with complete Democratic control at all levels - places like Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. How can anyone reconcile the fact that the places with the most restrictive gun control have - BY FAR - the greatest amount of gun crime, while similar sized cities with armed citizens have seen large reductions in gun crimes?

@MrOracle: The problem with your argument about deaths by firearm is that only uses one tiny state, Vermont, as reference, and cherry picks individual major cities with high crime rates in states with strict gun control, while completely ignoring much of the gun crimes that occur in states with less strict gun control. However, on the contrary, according to various studies regarding firearm deaths, states with the strictest gun control laws have the fewest deaths by firearms.
