More attempted extortions than i care to go into, pretty much ignored by people when trying to make conversation and learn about the culture, had a guy try to stab me because "he lost face infront of the round eye" and i basically found everyone around me (i was in Shang Hi) to be incredibly arrogant, two faced and basically sneaky as fuck.
I've been all over the world and Shang Hi is the only place i discovered to be full of dickheads and aresholes.

This guy makes a good point. Go to any other non-Westernized country, and everybody there is racist. It's just normal there. You think white people in the U. S. are bad because they tell an N-word joke when no black folk are looking? Asians will murder other Asians just for being a different nationality. Black people in Africa are killing each other right now because their skin color is too light or too dark. Over in the Middle East we got Jews and Muslims and other religions/nationalities killing each other all over the place. Anyone bitching about racism in America needs to be immediately deported so they can experience the real world and all the racists out there.

See that's not what i'm saying at all. All's i was saying is that i think (like i hope most people think) all people are cool, 'till they're not.
Being British we sorted the majority of our institutionalised racisism back in the late 19th/ early 20th century. Sure there's a few people that carry a bit of hatered with them, some of it's from ignorance which is wrong but i can understand hatered from knowledge.

Congratulations! These are the best words you could write about the White Privilege.
I agree with every word you said.
I tried to explain this to my younger sister and we end up having an argument. Now, I'm glad that I see someone agreeing with me.

    Sigh...

Why can't we all just see each other as human beings, homo sapiens sapiens, regardless of what race they belong to, or how much melanin and how curly their hair is.

Why can't people just view each other as FUCKING HUMANS.

I'd rather we discriminate each other as "dumb" vs "smart" or "ignorant" vs. "decent", rather than according to racial backgrounds.

That's fine and dandy but it's not ok to live in a fucking bubble. There are good people and bad people out there. If you swim in an ocean you will run into playful Dolphins but you will also run into sharks, saying that they are all sea creatures doesn't change the fact that sharks bite and eat meat. Unless you are blind a human usually goes by the appearance of a person and that includes skin tone. I don't believe all humans are the same we are all unique. Acknowledging diffetences does not make you racist. It shocks me how people claim they don't see skin color. I notice it which is why I know there is good and bad in every race. @TheDevilInside

I wish wish wish it were a thing. Then I could probably be sipping drinks with little umbrellas in them, because I hit the "white privilege lottery", and that should just funnel cash in to my bank account and let me shop at Barneys while all my servants carry my boxes around.
Instead I work a job I hate to pay bills I don't want and taxes for things I don't need and come home exhausted with little to no time for myself, while I watch the "Gov" fork out cash to people who haven't lifted a finger once to earn a thing for themselves and constantly trash the western way of life that's being so stupidly generous to them.

Let's ask another question: Is minority privilege a thing?
Government handouts, free education, job preference, hate crime laws, anti free speech laws to not offend them...

It's true, white people can not begin to understand what black people go through or went through. But as a white person I have had hate over my skin color too, and yes it hurts just as if it would hurt a person of color being made fun of. I'm also pretty poor so I've never had a fairy tale life and I understand why people of color think we are privlaged but it's not always true. Not all white people are racist so I seriously wish America could freaking move on and we all become at peace.

Being white & poor is not the same thing as being black. I've been poverty-level my entire life as a white person but my life is STILL more privileged than that of a black person because I belong to the group that holds systematic power in our country (white people) so I benefit every day of my life simply from being white. It's evident in everything from the way we are treated by strangers down to the job opportunities we have, etc.

No you don't, you actually have less opportunity in many regards because there's illegals that will work jobs you can't afford to, and for other jobs you are competing with diversity quotas and affirmative action.

"white privilege" is racist. As a white person I find this so offensive. It is equivalent to a white person saying African americans are criminals. The idea of white privilege discredits the hard work a white person goes through to be successful. It is like no matter how hard a white person works or the effort they put into their job, you are saying they only got there because their skin color is white. This is just so offensive. You are doing the exact same thing you would not want done to yourself. Put yourself in a white persons shoe. Would you like it if you worked really hard for your dream job, but people were judging you and saying "nope. You don't deserve it. It is only because you are white". You are being racists.

You made a sweeping off based statement. How is pointing out factual injustices racist? White privilege is real and the Take writer examined that through various examples, references and sources.

There are many privileges not just racial. Saying their is heterosexual privilege is fact. Their is citizenship /Ameican privilege over immigrants. Things we don't have to worry about being straight or Americans. It just is. That's not a stereotype. "Blacks are criminals" is a stereotype. You say put yourself in white persons shoes... Well put yourself in a black persons shoes. You can be a white person with amazing work ethic and deserve your accomplishments and you can be s black person with your same financial hardships , clear criminal record and same education and not advance. You are PRIVILEGED to move towards upward mobility with no question. A black person in a nice neighborhood is questioned, pulled over, harassed. This is not about discrediting you wtf

So as a Jew I can tell you that in this country we were discriminated against. Jews started immigrating to america and no one wanted to hire them. America even said they had a "Jewish Problem". Colleges had a quota of how many jews they would accept. So I can understand what its like for African americans. But that did not stop jews from succeeding. They valued education and it made them work even harder. Hollywood used to be looked down upon so jews would go there to get jobs and they helped turned hollywood into what it is today. They didn't point fingers or blame others. And all the persian jews I know who immigrated to this country and looked black, were also discriminated against. But they are now the wealthiest in Beverly Hills. So there you go. It is all about hard work and determination. Not skin color.

@existing_not_living I would really like to hear your response to a flaw in your whole argument. And that is why are Jews (especially Persian Jews) and Asians the most successful in America? Even though Jews were discriminated against and Asians are sometimes discriminated, why are they doing better than white people? Do you think their culture valuing education and hard work has anything to do with it? Could there be a correlation?

I did not intend to offend you, but I won't apologize for what I said in my article. I also do not believe I am a racist and I think you are wrongly accusing me. People use this word far too lightly these days and throw it around like it's football. I think many people are misinterpreting what I am trying to say. I am looking at everyones comments with an open mind and I plan to discuss a lot of issues that anyone had in this article by writing a couple more. I need a little time to think on the subject because right now where I live it's 1:46 in the morning and I should really be sleeping, but I will definitely come back to it. It will probably be addressed in a later article.

I admire your thoughts and intelligent conversation on this topic. I wish I had an equally intelligent response. I have never understood why some people in this world walk with the entitlement and arrogance of kings. I have always viewed them as weak and insecure only hiding behind the illusion of power that they have created. When those with money and power continue to stack the deck to keep others down, it's not real power, it's manipulation.

The fact is America is one of the best places in the world for black people to live. There is more opportunity to succeed here than Africa, or the middle east, South America, or even Australia. All have worse racism problems or just simply no opportunity for any of its citizens. A lot of Western Europe is also a good place for blacks to live. But no one has more policy designed to assimilate and help blacks succeed than the USA

Even if black men act respectfully towards police, do what they say, etc, DOES NOT GUARANTEE that they will be treated fairly. www.girlsaskguys.com/.../q1258725-black-man-follows-police-orders-still-gets-shot-if-not-captured-on I asked this question and not really anyone had anything to say because it contradicts MOST PEOPLE ON GAG'S perspective that if black men would just act respectfully towards police and do as the police say, they wouldn't get shot, beaten etc. I can also guarantee that there's a lot of people that commented on your take, but DIDN'T READ or ONLY READ bits and pieces.

Discussing white privilege and cops is like discussing asking PETA to explain abuse of Cheese Puffs.

Cops are a different breed. They train to kill and anything they do is going to be defended. But white privileged and racism doesn't make cops less likely to act like they naturally will.

Whites kill about 1 white for every 2 blacks shot. But that means since blacks are only 13% of the population whites are killed more by cops than blacks.

Cops kill more whites than they kill blacks.

So again, if you want to ask PETA to explain abuse of Cheese Puffs go right ahead, but thinking white privilege explains more whites being shot than blacks then you're already dedicated to the inability to solve logic problems.

Most whites that kill cops still LIVE to tell the tale unlike blacks... Like that white guy that killed that state trooper recently. It took them a long time to catch him and it wasn't because he was smart , it was because of white privilege... No matter how many times a white person commits a crime, they will NEVER be profiled by police... EVER.

You said... "No matter how many times a white person commits a crime, they will NEVER be profiled by police... EVER. "

When the black sniper serial killer John Allen Mohammad and his nephew Lee Boyed Malvo were riding around DC shooting out the back of the car with a sniper rifle killing people, whites were profiled.

Because it was presumed a white was most likely to use a rifle and scope. Yet it turned out to be a black. Police work requires profiling. REQUIRES it. So depending on the type of crime, and where those crimes are most prevalent you do profile. It's just good police work.

Now when you say your point, what crimes are you thinking whites are committing that they wouldn't get profiled for?

Profiling isn't required because if it was, the prison population would be more balanced racially. Blacks and whites use and sell drugs at the same rates, but blacks go to jail 6 times more, Why? because of profiling and harsher sentences given to 1st time black drug offenders vs. 1st time white drug offenders

i am glad that life is fair in some ways that it doesn't give everything good to a group particularly. Maybe that's why some of them are butt hurt that they didn't seem to be put on pedestal always. like some girls wonder why white guys would go for other race-jealousy , not everyone prefer them.

Trayvon Martin was shot by a hispanic guy--don't BS us. If you're going to call him white, then you have to call Obama white as well, lol.

And "white privilege." Hmm. The privilege of having more brainpower? Is that it? Because there are ZERO affirmative action programs for white men in ANY program.

The simple truth is, "white privilege" is simply a weak excuse claimed by blacks who want to blame someone else for their problems. Trayvon Martin was a thug who attacked a guy and got shot for it. Garner, apparently more of a sympathetic case, apparently was choked to death as he was getting arrested for the 31st time.

Actually posted that before I saw your comment.

What do I mean? I mean that there is no "white privilege" that magically helps whites. What you have, you earned.

For instance, blacks commit murder/rape/robbery at rates far higher than whites, and blacks commit violent crimes against white victims at a rate 25 times than white on black crime...

And then blacks turn around and bitch that whites don't want to live in black neighborhoods or areas, lmao!

Meanwhile whites are shooting up schools. Lol that's why white boys have such bad reputation as well as blacks. You can go on Twitter and see

"When you messing with the weird white kid in class and see start reaching in his book bag"
      Or

"When the white kid tells you not too go to go school tomorrow"
      Even better

"Always be friends with the white boy in your school so when he shoot up the school you know you safe"

      *Actual Tweets*

Oh, I don't disagree, @Jaoro. Mass shooters are often whites. Thing is, that there are far less mass shootings than there are flat out murders.
It doesn't change the simple facts. Blacks are far more likely to commit violent crime than whites, for instance. Also, for instance, only a minority of black children are born to a married father/mother. Something like 28% of black children, I believe, are born in wedlock?

"Positive" discrimination is a bigger problem here than white privilege. If we would quit with all this political correctness crap then maybe society could actually get somewhere. The middle class probably gets discriminated against at least ad much as any other group, and do we ever hear them whining about it? Nope!

One things worth mentioning is also that not all white people are as privilidged. For example there are tons of white americans that are racist towards europeans. And there are tons of europeans that are racist towards north americans. Yet we are apparently still privilidged no matter what in any sittuation. White privilege is real and is usually only acknowledged by educated white people, as they're able to understand economic and social privilege and oppression based on race. White privilege is a privilege that many white people don't even realize they have, and so they lack empathy and understanding when these subject matters come up.

It's an excuse used by losers and haters who just don't have what it takes to cut the mustard. I am not black, but I am NOT privileged. We all struggle, period.
