Not just black women but black men too. Then they show the white guy as the goof or follower especially in commercials as any other race or women would be furious if they were... Just pandering givem the actual size of the black population.
Gina Torres is nasty went wayyy off the reservation with the plastic surgery. Got that Joan Rivers face. Taraji P. Henson is my dream girl though so much love for her even if she's got 20 years on me.
I think they are absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. I love all these characters because of their strength and integrity. My personal favorite is Detective Carter.
but this has always been the image black people have been portrayed throughout history as powerful and either dangerous and intimidating or strong and noble whether it was slavery or sports or law the black community was always strongest spoken whether itw as crime or justice victory or defeat or even love and hate the blacks have just held an amazing presence in the world
@laurenvialox minorities? well they aired hannah montana and a few other disney shows. other than that.. i don't know cuz i don't go out of my way to watch foreign stuff
Unbelievable. Not one single racist opinion! If I dare to post a Take about White women power, I won't even get the chance to be labeled a racist by the whole community, because Gag will take it down.
So when do we get to the point where the 'black' part is irrelevant? Considering that is the major stink being caused in society right now...

Good for them, a group of women who at one time and even still today get wrongfully judged getting their opportunity to show what they can do. I'm happy for them.
Just because someone has mixed ancestry does not mean they are not black. The majority of black americans have mixed ancestry unless they come straight from africa and have a connection with an African culture or heritage. I am a medium toned black and i know more about my french german and natve American ancesters than African although i identify as black. pretty much, if you live the black experience, then that is what makes you black. no one gives themselves their own identity. Identity is given to you by others.
Another problem I have is even if they are mixed, they don't convey the typical black women phenotype, in particular the curly hair, brown (and not black) skin. All of them have straight long hair. If they are so proud of their "blackness" then why hide what makes them black in the first place?
There is no typical black phenotype with black americans. Only stereotype. The majority of black americans have mixed ancestry. Even in Africa there are all types of ethnic groups different cultures with diffetent features and different hair textures just a lot of the world sees a dark skin color and therefore we are all just grouped together as black people. Ethiopean women look way different from Nigerian women thay actuall have disntict features as well as totally different cultures.
Ethopian women are mixed with Caucasians. When I think of a black woman I think of dark skin and curly hair. Just to make it clear: There is nothing wrong with that. I'm all for more power for black women. The point is they don't look like black women or women who embrace their African ancestry. Saying they are typical black women is like showing old catholic men and say look so many Gay jews.
Being black does not mean you cannot enjoy being stylish and fashionable by changing her hairstlye. Is a brunett white woman any less because she dies her hair blonde? Or blue? Or gets a curly perm? Many black women love being black however we live in a society where looking white gets you a better job/career and looking black is negative. Black news anchors have to straighten their hair as well as women in other professions. When a black woman wheres a trafitional black hairstylr like dread locks, braids, cornrows, afro then she is too ghetto, trashy, classless and unfit for a job. If African heritage was more accepted with certain employers then more black women would where trafitional styles. Black women hair is constantly critisized whether it is natural or unnatural. (Im typinf on my phone. Excusr the typos)
No. being black is not entirely about African heritage. Being black is about the experience we share because of our obvious African ancesyry or heritage. Black is not an ethnic group. Black is the label given to the group of people with dark skin and obvious African ansetry. people develop their identity by recognising the reactions and attitudes of others Towards them. A funny person will not consider themselves funny untill they have made someone else laugh. Black people know they are black people not because of africa. Many of us have no connections at all with africa. We are black because we are treatrd like we are black and others make you feel like you are black. We all share the black experience. No matter how straight you make your hair or whethrr you come from the dominican republic or if you speak yoruba. A Black person will always be reminded that they are black. Just like a white person will always be reminded that he is white.
No an Asian person has Asian experiences. Asian would be an identity given to people of the Asian continent. Non-asians tend to group Asians into different groups unless they know which country the Asian is from. In the USA people tend to recognise Asian as meaning east Asians; People from korea, china, japan. And then anyone from south asia we do not think of them as Asians and we call them indians. whereas in the Uk they refer to people from south asia as "Asian" and the people from japan, korea, china as oriental. Therefore Asians are always aware that they have been split into two groups. A white person could never know what it is like to be an Indian that gets called a pakistani because that is a part of the Indian experience. A korean can never share the black experience because they will never know what it is like to have others recognise them as black. They can only have the korean experience or the Asian experience or the oriental experience
What about indigenious groups in the Phillipines? They look like Africans (black skin, curly hair, etc.) but they are Asians. Would they experience Black or Asian experience?
they experience whatever the fuck they experience due to them being identified as whatever group they are identified as. There was no black or white or race until somone from one group came across another group and then thoes groups pointed out the differences in eachothers skin color. Even children do not understand race untill someone tells them what race they are and makes them feel like they are different from other children. I knew a black woman that said that she did not know that she was black untill her kindergarten teacher told her she was. She argued with her teacher and said that her skin was brown becasue its the color of the brown markers and crayons. Her teacher taught her that someone who looks like her is called black and that her race is black.

All characters have issues in every show. Flawless characters would be boring as fuck to watch.
This guy gets it.
I have noticed but I'm just happy to see women of any race in powerful roles.
I think its amazing !! I mean they even came up with Doc Mcstuffins lol
They should make a new show and call it, "Black Women Take Charge" and have trailers with all these women in the pics you've posted plus more to wear business attire and look all boss-like

I always thought black women were brave, sassy and awesome. I always thought they were powerful regardless of social status.
Come on snowflake now, are you serious?
but this has always been the image black people have been portrayed throughout history as powerful and either dangerous and intimidating or strong and noble whether it was slavery or sports or law the black community was always strongest spoken whether itw as crime or justice victory or defeat or even love and hate the blacks have just held an amazing presence in the world
Clearly you don't know history.
i likely kno more about world history than u ever will
we don't have those shows on basic tv here in japan
I'm interested to know what you guys see on TV in Japan. In terms of minority characters?
@laurenvialox minorities? well they aired hannah montana and a few other disney shows. other than that.. i don't know cuz i don't go out of my way to watch foreign stuff
Unbelievable. Not one single racist opinion!
If I dare to post a Take about White women power, I won't even get the chance to be labeled a racist by the whole community, because Gag will take it down.
Explain?
I think she is pointing this out because it is new and rare. Rare for women in general. Off base much Lol.
Even though I am getting tired of hearing about how women are better than men at everything...
So when do we get to the point where the 'black' part is irrelevant? Considering that is the major stink being caused in society right now...
Good for them, a group of women who at one time and even still today get wrongfully judged getting their opportunity to show what they can do. I'm happy for them.
What about Danai Gurira and Soquena Martin from The Walking Dead (Michonne and Sasha respectively).
I like to recognize another beautiful black woman
Rochelle Aytes - Who played April Malloy in the TV series (Mistresses)
I haven't really noticed many black women in the tv i watch. Tbh, I don't really care about it all that much, as long as the character is well acted.
... they don't look Black. Especially Mrs. "Valez". She looks and her name sounds Latina.

No one in his right mind would give Mrs. Valez the identity of a black woman. WTH?

Why can't they be stylish by being more African if African is that what the article emphasizes? Why aren't they considered Latina?
You can be both black and latina and i already explained why some black women do not choose to wear traditional hairstyles
So here is an aritcle that celebrates black women but the black women neglect their blackness? This article is a farce.

I'm 'black' and I honestly don't care.. TV is boring anyways.
Same, for the TV part.
Possibly because these characters do not 'speak' to you. Why do you think that is? What are the producers are writers missing?
Taraji P. Henson is a bad mama jama.
She needs to be my wife.
