Stereotypes and misconceptions about black women

These are a list of generalizations and stereotypes I think other races make about black women.

1. We are all dark skinned/have big lips, noses, "nappy hair"

Stereotypes and misconceptions about black women

Yes dark skin is beautiful but it does not mean that a person has to be half white to be light skinned. Both of my parents are black and I am very light skinned. And my nose is pretty slim. There are dark skinned women who are mixed too. So skin tone doesn't always have to do with race mixture

2. We want to be white/we are jealous of white women/we are desperate to date white men/we have a hard time dating/black men do not want us.

Stereotypes and misconceptions about black women

Just because a few black people come out and say this does not mean it's true for all black people. Plenty of black women marry black men and I know plenty of black women who get asked out by men of all races. Not all black women care about black men dating other races

3. We are all fat/overweight/unhealthy

4. We don't wear our real hair/we have short hair

Kenya Moore wears her real hair and it's all hers. Wendy Williams even put her fingers through it.

5. We are ghetto/uneducated/short tempered/always angry/crazy/poor/on welfare

6. Africans Americans representing the black race

Ugh no African Americans is used to describe the ethnic group of black peoples in America only. You can not be born and raised in Brazil and be African American. You can't tell if someone is African American solely by the way they look. Black people live in different countries.

7. We all discriminate against biracial people/we claim biracials

no we don't all hate biracial people, some biracials think they are superior or think we are jealous, I'm cool with plenty of biracial men and women. It's up to each individual to decide what they identify as.

8. We don't tan

Yes black do tan and we need protection against the sun! We are human and our skin color doesn't change the fact that the sun won't darken our skin.
