Hey, how about write about some actual gender roles for men instead of rephrasing what you said for women...
Its men's job to 1. Provide food and shelter to the family 2. Protect family from imminent danger 3. Procreate to ensure your values and culture are carried on to the next generation.
I already wrote why I support traditional gender roles, although I could have written it better.
"Stroll through this website and you'll find a lot of "men should pay first" "men should do this" "men should ask the girl out first" "men should initate sex first" etc. I honestly feel bad for men because you guys have a LOT to do according to society."
So true I wish everyone could just be themselves not in a bad way though (Hey I moderate Tomboy and am proud of my tomboyish nature and will not change that for the world.) But you are right Stereyotypes are stupid.
" its obvious where our strengths lie, and it's obvious that we personally prefer to play to our strengths. So why do we have to pretend that we don't?"
Thays what white slave masters said about people who were enslaved by thdm.
# first rule in " thinking". Nothing is obvious unless you're a follower.
Actually, the data I've seen suggests that at least in some areas, the number of stay-at-home moms increases when incomes rise.
Being a stay at home mother nowadays (as my wife is) is not a gender jail she's shoved into. It's a privilege women choose if their husband is rich enough.
I believe women should not have to work if they have a husband who is capable of working. I believe the man should be the head of the house but decisions need to be discussed by the man and the woman. Women should do the cooking and cleaning but it won't hurt if men help too. Some of those are outdated but I agree with them.
Wow, an Internet article about gender equality that actually both acknowledges AND addresses the stereotypes/problems that men face too, not just women. Kudos to you.
Seriously though I did enjoy this myTake, thank you for posting this! :)

What really gets me is the way people refer to these gender roles as "natural". I tend to disagree with most people about the whole submissive thing. If you believe it's all about slavery and being a doormat then it's definitely something you should stay away from. But, it has a different meaning for everybody.
Some are, yes. But, most are not. They are cultural. Not natural. Let's take cooking for one. If a woman was naturally intended to be the cook we'd all have spoons for hands.

That is so asinine I almost done even know how to respond. It's false. Gender roles are evolutionary. They, to an extent, have existed in basically every society consistently for thousands of years. This was true even when the societies had no contact with each other.
Evolutionary my foot. Sorry to tell ya but , no not every society shares the same gender roles. Majority does it seems. I'll agree with that but, certainly not everyone. Get to know some cultures outside your own sometime and you'll see that.
the points are nonsensical generalizations and consist stereotypes themselves. no one teaches women to look good. their vanity leads them that way, its their natural inclination. for the second i have to say video games ain't real life. the third: i cook=/= being submissive. standard roles were there for a reson, men working on the fields etc. the rest i won't even bother...

Women don't diet to the point of starvation except for in the most extreme Cases, like anorexia, a mental condition. Models might stave off eating for awhile, but male models have to have even lower fat percentages , to the point were it effects libido, in order to achieve the male ideal. Other than that your articles fine.
While we're at it, maybe they should switch the site name to guysaskgirls once in a while. And stop making women's usernames pink and men's usernames blue. Shake things up.

I'd pay someone to actually assemble a collection of political and social ideologies to debunk this for the millionth time.

Very good take! Outstanding!

Thank you, that was actually touching!

I do like your take and I would like to be treated equally. But I LOOOOOOVE cooking for a man.
Is it just me or are many other guys getting tired of women telling us what our issues are?
Dude, this is like gender studies 101.
Well they can stop that.
I think you have traditional gender roles misconstrued..
MAN:Provider, Protector
WOMAN:Supporter, Nurturer
Gender roles absolutely have a place in society:
Men are physically attracted to women more than vice versa.
Men are better at spatial tasks than women.
When the economy goes south, the number of stay-at-home-moms increases (like right now)
It's obvious where our strengths lie, and it's obvious that we personally prefer to play to our strengths. So why do we have to pretend that we don't?

Nice hyperbolic and inaccurate comparison you have there.
We're not talking about enslaving people, we're talking about the social acceptability of certain heuristics.

Oh my gosh there is a furrbie in the picture! Run for your lives!
I simply think that no one should be shamed for adhering to gender roles or NOT adhering to them.
Aren't you the same girl who said boys shouldn't have long hair because it looks 'girly'? If so, then this take is rather ironic.

A lot of these gender roles do come from nature, yes.
Some are, yes. But, most are not. They are cultural. Not natural. Let's take cooking for one. If a woman was naturally intended to be the cook we'd all have spoons for hands.
So you're not submissive yet you post anonymously...
HumbleTeddy Where in my post does it say that I'm not submissive? And how is being anonymous related to that?
Reread my post. It should be very obvious that I'm disagreeing with people who think badly of submission.

Preach it girl, preach it. I believe the same thing.
See this post: www.girlsaskguys.com/.../q1363105-the-feminization-of-men
gender roles are subjective.
Some people want to deny Patriarchy exists... this IS Patriarchy. So much of it is this gender role enforcement and the effects therein.

Debunk like i did.
Or debunk my debunk
Don't even worry about it.
