Why is it called being a coward if you beat up someone weaker than you?

I would call such person a scumbag, bully, loser, lowlife, etc. but not really a coward.

To me a coward would really be someone that's really afraid of anyone and doesn't even want to take a chance at all, someone that always likes running away no matter what.

By beating up someone weaker, this person is already showing that they're not cowards at all and can also be just as capable of fighting with someone bigger too if someone tried getting in their way. Yes, I've heard of such individuals who also weren't afraid of getting confronted either.

I actually saw a supposely ''Coward'' one day push the host Steve Wilkos. Sure it wasn't a smart move obviously but at least he didn't care.

I get called a lot of things including coward, but honestly.. Fighting.. Just brawling without a purpose is just cowardly in general, I know the tough guys in here would probably argue

But hitting someone is wrong, usually starts with a verbal argument.. And if u end up in a fight.. To defend ur self or to be the one initiating.. I find it cowardly that u didn't have the courage to let it go and move on..

I've had my fair shares of mistakes.. One thing I realized was.. I get the people around me in trouble with me..
Its selfish and immature.. So unless I'm completely by my self, I step down and back off for the sake of my friends around me.. And I've been spit on and poured on.. As long as my friends are safe I no longer care.. At the end I know it was worth walking away from

I don't get it how come beaten the weak also capable of challenge the bigger? the fomer is they did it, the latter is they just come up with this assumption but they didn't go for it. Coward is someone you know you could take down and in order to exhibit your strength you just really mercilessly do it. You knew the result and all you do was making up the thought that you wanna show your capability. If one knows his power, he wouldn't do something he already beyond it, the whole idea is don't take the way you just came over.

Beating up someone weaker requires no bravery whatsoever. Some people make a habit of only confronting weaker people and that makes them look cowardly. It's when you're willing to take on those bigger and stronger than you that you earn respect. As for Steve Wilkos, that show is staged so don't base an opinion on anything you see there.

I agree with what you are saying but I guess they call them cowards because they can't defend themselves as well. They are saying it'd be better to try and get at someone who has the same or better skill level than you.

Because presumably you picked the fight, and by picking a fight with someone you know you can easily beat instead of someone more your match, you are showing you are afraid of a real fight with someone who may beat you.
