Should I get a job at mcdonalds or publix?

I've worked at publix for 2 years now, full time employee, 11$ an hour, 40 hours a week. My friend works at mcdonalds and is a manager but she makes less than me. Why?

McDonald's is a job with no future.
Get in and get out before you're old and shriveled up like a raisin.
If I were her working there and recieving low pay wouldn't bother me because I'd be working on another project (to better myself in the long run).
Whether that's learning a trade, college, or moving on to a much better job.

I remember seeing this thing on tv about a woman fighting for her rights in Mcdonalds. She said McDonald's is a million dollar franchise but pay their employees crap. She was working there for over a decade and only getting 10 bucks an hour.

What about Publix?

I'm not at all familiar with publix... as I've never seen one in New York.
I looked it up its a super market.
All I can say is it's a better job than McDonald's, but don't put your eggs in one basket.
Work towards other goals.
You are still really young so this job is good for you right now.

Supermarket work has far more potential than fast food, IMHO. They have a much bigger variety of products and many also do stuff like finance and housewares so they will have a lot more management and administrative staff.

I'd say stick with what you got, since seniority in a place like that tends to be rewarded too.

You'd be surprised. When I was working at Burger King a while back , I was shocked to find out my manager only got paid 50 cents more than me.
The store owners get paid well.

@Stacyzee I actually am surprised. those corporate thieves, an average In-N-Out Burger employee makes $15/hourly.

Depends on where you live because I've never seen a burger employee make that much.

@Stacyzee I only see those wages at In-N-Out Burger, it was originally a California chain but now under new ownership its spreading to other states. its very popular and I was surprised that employees start at $12/hourly and get raises pretty quick. but seriously like its non-stop work its so popular.

So then what do you guys think about Publix?

I had to look it up, didn't know what publix was, but now knowing its a food market it seems a whole lot better than mcdonalds.

Yeah i believe its only on the east coast. Forgot all about that.

Over here burger employees get paid 8.75 an hour which is minimum wage.

@Stacyzee its not every burger employee, its literally only In-N-Out Burgers, the owner pays her employees well. im pretty sure mcdonalds employees in Cali are also making minimum wage but the minimum wage is increasing to $10/hourly.

Okay I've never heard of in and out burgers. I'm a pretty avid fast food eater. I'm pretty sure they don't have that in
New York (which is why I haven't heard of the pay being as such )

@Stacyzee its cool, its hasn't reached the East coast yet but if you ever come to the west coast you gotta give their burgers a try. I love fast food but hate my life for eating clean 6 days a week lol.

Because Publix values their employees and wants to keep the best performers on their team.

McDonalds is a corporate welfare case, which encourages their employees to be on public assistance so they can make good profit margins.
