Tough love vs soft love?

I grew up with TOUGH LOVE and a dad that was rather set in his ways, learning them from HIS father.
It works for some, but not all.
As a Manager, I need to know how to read each, and figure out what works best for each. Some need a gentle 'Coach' helping them find their own solutions.
Others need a challenge, and someone telling them that they need to do better and here is the Level they need to maintain!!
Some just need a 'Kick in the Ass' and a 'Come to Jesus Talk', like do better, or you are gone!!
Fcking Millenials!! I don't even want to talk about their issues!!!

Uh, a mix of both but with a heavier dose of tough love. I'm a man so I should be able to make my way, figure my own stuff out, suffer if need be, etc.

However, insulting someone isn't tough love... that's lack of love.

Oh! I took it from a parental standpoint. I think friends get more leeway with that sort of stuff, definitely. It also depends on how it was delivered contextually.

Soft love works better on me, but it can depend on the situation. If I'm having a hard time, I just need some support and positivity, and I can get back on my feet again. It matters who it is, as well. Like, if my boyfriend tried that tough love routine on me, I'd just feel way worse, and possibly start crying lol. My best friend... I can handle some harsher truths coming from her.

It's easier for me to give soft love, too, but I can dish some tough love if it's really necessary.

Sometimes One has to Stop being an Enabler for Someone like this and Show Tough Love in order for that Person to Grow up.
