Why didn't convicted try to escape during a execution?

I've seen a lot of medieval movies and other movies from the past which I finds quite interesting. I've always been a fan of history. One thing I've noticed is when a person is going to be executed in the movies, they doesn't try to escape. They just walks to the execution place and sometimes without restraints (Hands tied, chains etc.) calmly. Sometimes they have a speech and then they gets ready for the execution. I thought people didn't want to be executed and wanted to escape at one point. Either when they sits in prison before the event or during it. Since they don't always have their hands and feet tied or chained (Example during beheading) they aren't fully restrained, so they could escape.

This woman who's going to be beheaded don't wear handcuffs or ropes. Both her hands and feet are free.
