I’m agnostic & I believe people should be allowed to believe in whatever they truly believe in. I don’t agree with extremely religious thus dangerous people, but for the people who cause no harm, I say let them be.
No, it should not be banned. People should have free will of choice, even if it's a bad one. If people want to make a bad choice despite being warned or given advice about such choice, then that's their decision. Just make sure that it doesn't harm anyone else (and them too if they are suicidal).
I don’t think it should be banned, because that would make us no better than countries who have theocratic leaders. I choose not to take part in organized religion, and that’s my choice in America because we have Freedom of Religion. That’s my opinion.
We should respect both freedom of religion but also freedom from religion. If religious people keep forcing other to follow their religion steps should be taken to stop them from doing so, people have the freedom to be free from religious people pushing their religion. Equally so ideologies like egalitarianism and LGBT sexuality beliefs should never be forced onto people, which now unfortunately the case.
Same reason as you. People should be able to believe any religion or no religion they want and still be united without interfering in one another's beliefs.
Nope. I don't really approve of it and it's not something that's for me but it's a personal choice and it doesn't necessarily hurt anyone. A ban would be pretty fucked up, people should be free to choose shit like that for themselves.
It depends on what capacity you're talking about. They shouldn't teach religion in school but people should be allowed to believe in whatever they want.
As long schools aren't trying to convert anyone, I think it's okay to mention religion in school for educational purposes. Then the pupils get to know what the religions is about.
I thibk religion causes a lot of problems, Israel-Palestine, gay marriage, white supremacy... etc.
But it does give people hope and meaning for the future. I feel like religion is a nessicity for life for some people.
So, i wouldn't ban it, I'd just regulate it in a way that forces it to conform to modern western ideas (like gay marriage) and to be more inclusive to other religions.
I mean there are definitely upsides such as a forced set of philosophical doctrines that makes for an easier populace control mechanism and a reduction in things to argue about.
It wouldn't really happen that way but ultimately this question is kind of a stupid one so meh.
Freedom to practice one's faith is a fundamental right. However, there needs to be reasonable boundaries. Hijacking the political process to pass religious-based laws is not a legitimate exercise of that right. Nor is any one religion entitled to special treatment in the public sphere.
You cannot legislate what people believe, only perhaps the practise of it. But most religions on the whole influence people to behave in ways that are not in conflict with laws in any reasonably organised nation state
You can't really separate them. Religion/lack of informs people's opinions on how to best live which informs everything they do or do not do. You should be more specific about where or how it would be banned.
No, because to do so would violate our ideals about freedom. You have the right to believe anything you want about anything you want, however, acting on those beliefs in a way that violates someone else's rights should be and is illegal.

Believing in God, deities, afterlives etc. is religion and you're technically practicing religion indirectly. You don't need to go to the temple, church, synagogue or whatever to practice it. Believing is enough. 4.bp.blogspot.com/.../religion%2Bdefinition.png
In that case , you should think before asking. Practically, religion cannot be banned.
When you talk about banning religion,. I mean that I should not be asked about religion while taking admission in any college, there should be no conversions, I should be able to worship God in the name of Allah or God without converting, and many such things.
You see if we ban it, that'll cause the same amount of chaos that we have no with religion. Might as well leave it as it is and let people have the freedom to choose their beliefs.
hahaha dunno I feel like it would be hard to ban something like religion tho, I dont think they could stop religion based terrorism, if we can't even stop it now, hows banning it gunna help
@arshlx how exactly do you think it would stop? Do you really think it would stop terrorists? "Ah shit they banned our religion... sorry boys! Time to pack up and start living a normal life!" Terrorist organizations are already established, to the point where they don't even need a religion to function anymore.
Religion shouldn't be banned, as long as it isn't used as a means to harm or condemn others (looking at you, Christianity, Islam, and Satanism). If you're going to have a religion, keep it to yourself. And PLEASE don't kill in the name of (insert deity name here).
People should be able to believe whatever they want. The problem is when those beliefs get in the way of other things like people's rights and education

Why is this even a question? Is there a movement to ban religion somewhere in the world?
I asked this question to just create a discussion.
It’s a rudiculous discussion. When freedoms are taken away nobody wins.

No, because it wouldn't do any good, and ideas in general shouldn't be banned.
Ban religion, and they'll just take it underground, but now with a victim narrative to help. And no one able to publicly challenge the bad ideas.
Even if you could somehow ban religion effectively, they would just find some other stupid thing to believe.

I agree. In my school they taught us about religion, but they didn't force any of them on us.

no. ⛔
it would just as extreme as forcing some religion to people who don't like it.
what should be removed is the teachings that telling you that you're allowed to treat others bad.
Yes.
