I'm wondering whether they will lose any. Will there be a split between gender identity and sexual identity (will intersex and trans go their own way, call themselves the IT crowd).
Or maybe people will get to a state where they stop labelling everyone and just get on with loving who they want to love, having sex with whoever they like (in a consensual way) and living how they want to live.

2. I'm not really sure why asexual is on the list since there's no legislative discrimination against them. No one really cares if you don't want to fuck. And that's the deal with most of this stuff. The mainstream society doesn't care. It would be easier if the English-speaking people just had one pronoun to refer to all the people.

Here’s the deal with “mainstream” society:

It recognizes you were born with either male or female genitals.

The portion of society who thinks mainstream society is marginalizing sex lives and gender expression are missing the point. We really don’t care about your sex lives or your “gender expression.” You stay out of my sex life, and I stay out of yours. I’m sorry there are those who don’t feel right because the little boxes they’re using to identify themselves doesn’t have a letter associated with their particular expression. Your genitals are either male or female, but how (and even if) a person uses them, their sexuality, is a private matter. I see no need to expand a term that is focused on telling the world about your sex life.

In fact, that's why you hear about lunatics refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple and them blaming religion. Where did Jesus say not to bake a cake for someone? Didn't he feed everyone? Didn't he say "when two or more of you are together, there I will be"? I didn't see the part where it says "except homos." So, no, you're not doing a good job of staying out of other people's sex lives.

@Jonny317. There’s no religious basis for my point. It’s a matter of picking and choosing one’s battles wisely. How about if someone refuses to bake me a cake, provide me a service, or sell me merchandise for whatever the reason I just take my money to a merchant who will? And it has happened to me because some merchants don’t want to sell to “gooks, chinks, slant eyes, etc”. But my mainstream approach to the problem is NOT to call in mainstream media, make it go viral on Facebook, and put it into the court system. The only ones who made their sex lives public knowledge were the two gay men themselves and their media followers. It’s unfortunate that my own generation is going to go down in history for taking the nuclear option on everything, and going through life pushing on doors marked pull.

I see both sides of the argument in the Colorado cake brouhaha, in which SCOTUS sided with the baker in a narrow decision, based substantially on the Colorado Commission’s clear anti-religious bias.

In that case nobody really wins because the merchant’s discretion and religious freedom carries equal weight within the law. But in the case of Kim Davis refusing to issue a marriage license to a gay couple on religious grounds, my stance on that one is you’re in public service and the law has changed - do your damn job and issue the license as you would to a different-gendered couple, or seek employment elsewhere.

Not sure. I would think that the standard lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender-queer would have sufficed since it covers the majority of sexual orientations, but I’ve seen quite a few celebrities have come out as pansexual in recent time, so maybe they will be adding a P?
Either way, it is not a big issue to me if more letters were to be added if it helps people out there to feel more included/accepted.
