Islam should be banned period. Not just the niqab. Any religion that proposes killing all non members of that religion (infidels) and refers to Jews as pigs and apes can simply be eliminated in my opinion.

Exactly! No idea why so many people tolerate a religion that's caused so much female genital mutilation, child brides, "honour killings", and terrorism... it is NOT a religion of peace. And it is NOT "racist" to oppose this violent, aggressive, and hateful ideology.

@softrosie lmfao female genital mutilation has nothing to do with islam, go watch and read about it its about cultures. Some cultures that caused this

@softrosie i do a course in college about ethnic groups and cultures its part of my psychology lesson and we talked about it. And it had nothing to do with islam but rather some cultures in Africa. Thats why mos middle eastern countries dont even do it most Islamic. countries dont do it.

Yeah and those cultures in Africa, which religion do they follow. I'm just saying, there's a REALLY strong correlation between Islam and FGM. And even if there weren't, all the other factors still stand - Islam is not, and never has been, and never will be, a religion of peace, and we need to do away with it before it becomes an even bigger problem than it already is.

In France it's actually banned, but if cops try to enforce the law, they have a high risk of being physically attacked by all the muslims around.

The trouble with the niqab is, most women who wear it *are* being told to wear it - by male relatives.

Banning it sends a clear message that it's not acceptable.

Yeah, you can't refuse to have a picture of your face on your passport for religious reasons, i'm not saying this happens all the time but it could happen that they commit crimes and no one knows how they look because of the niqab.

They're not banning all religious headwear, just the ones that cover your face.

If I started a religion where half of my followers were required to wear masks everywhere, would you be completely comfortable with that? You can't tell who's behind the mask, so if they hurt you, you can never find them again.

Doesn't matter. It's still someone's religion belief and your banning because of potential dangers. Do we ban catholic priest and they rape little boys all the time. More importantly, allowing the government to ban any form of religious freedom sets a dangerous precedent.

      Reply
    • softrosie

Christ so much to unpack here.

      1) "banning because of potential dangers"? YES, actually. What's wrong with defending ourselves against a potential threat? Like I said, I haven't seen any country propose banning any headwear, just the ones that hide faces. And Islam actually only talks about covering hair, not the full face, so it's not even a part of their religion.
      2) "do we ban Catholic priest... all the time" At least people are addressing this issue. Even the fucking pope is addressing this. But ask any Muslim, they don't address the problem with burkas and niqabs. You're using a strawman argument - not all priests "rape little boys all the time", and when they do, they get punished. Not sure what this has to do with banning the niqab, unless you're equating wearing the niqab to a crime like raping children, which is pretty Islamophobic™️ of you :)
      3) "allowing the government... dangerous precedent" the thing is, they're NOT BANNING THE RELIGION (as much as I honestly think they should). It has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with public safety. If you walked around your city with a full face mask on, I'm sure you would get questioned for it. It's not "discrimination against wearing full face masks", it's just a matter of safety. It's suspicious to want to cover your face all the time out in public, and you have LITERALLY NO IDEA who is under a burka.

They're not banning religious freedom, they're still allowing Muslims to practice their ways, but they can't allow for Muslims to have special privileges over everyone else. They can't just go around hiding their faces all day and scream "religious freedom!!!" When someone calls them out for it. It's dangerous, and it's a good thing to prevent problems before they start.

Allow me to quote one of the founding fathers. Anyone that is willing to compromise essential liberties for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Two potential dangers is how xenophobia begins
Three if you can't see how banning this could turn into a slippery slope than I'm not going to explain it to you.

Go along now, and become blind to how this could, using the word you stated earlier, "potentially" lead to the end of freedom. Do you think that government control happens all at once. No it doesn't. It happens slowly, with people telling others to give something up because it's for safety. Smh. And yes I contradicted myself by explaining this to you.
