I honestly can't vote on this one. I want safety and security as much as the next person, but once it starts to violate religious rights, a very important right that the United States was founded on, it paves the way for other rights to be violated, for the sake of safety and security. History repeats itself when we look at what happened in Ancient Rome and even when Hitler was granted supreme power for "safety and security".
If these women wish to wear such clothing, even in the horrible humidity of our Summers, rain forest muggy in some states not dry heat like the Middle East, then so be it, they HAVE THE RIGHT TO WEAR IT, they aren't roaming around naked but they are horribly over dressed.
Now there should be a stipulation to this! FOR SECURITY, if law enforcement requests they show their faces they can not refuse and if law enforcement wishes to pat down these women, only female officers may pat them down but they can not refuse! FOR SECURITY, they must show their faces on any photo identification whether it is a drivers license or employment identification card with picture.

i dont get it why western societies are so intolerant of other religions
In India there is people from every religion who have learnt to live together understanding others religious practices
try to understand their religion rather than being ignorant towards it
No they should not and it should be respected. If the woman wants to wear it they are allowed to wear it. They're not bothering you and you're not bothering anybody else. I would rather for them to be covered up didn't be seen a lot of women dressing up like hoes out in the street. The only reason why people are so afraid of them is because of the nonsense that people choose to do but that does not mean everybody else does the same thing. Anybody else who thinks otherwise is just being prejudice and hypocrites. I respect people's cultures. This country is becoming less and less constitutional. People wants to know why we as a nation is losing respect of the other nations as a whole. At least they cover up. It's free choice and free will. There is nothing wrong with covering up and leave religion out of it.
Absolutely not, we need to respect other cultures and religions. Only if they actually need to be questioned by authorities and answer to them they will have to show their face by law. I don't know why would anyone want to ban them lol. If someone wants to hide their face before doing a crime they would hide it whether it's banned or not. No burglar is going to break the law by robbing a store and be like, oh no I can't wear the burqa it's agains the rules.

I'd ban them.
They're not a religious obligation, and are a massive F U to western society. If they want to wear those, they should go and live somewhere else.People call Muslims terrorists but Muslims are the biggest victims of terrorism.
Look at Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Libya, Burma, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Yemen and Pakistan.
America funds Israel to kill Palestinians. America, England and France funded Shia Muslims in Libya and Syria to kill Sunni Muslims.
Even in Egypt, 300 people were killed in a mosque during the Friday prayer and people stood outside to donate their blood even though many of them were strangers for each other.
We cannot even imagine the total number of Muslims who have died in those countries.
Many Rohingya girls were at the risk of getting kidnapped for forced prostitution after losing their parents. Where is the #MeToo movement now?
India was ruled by England for 200 years. The Indian Kohinoor diamond is still in the British Museum.
America and England also did black slavery.
So, the point is that the west is also responsible for a lot of bloodshed, terrorism and injustice.
Terrorism is done by people of all religions.
Tony Blair, George Bush and Donald Trump are Christians and they are international terrorists. Yet, Christians are not made to feel guilty.
Jewish are not made to feel guilty because of what Israelis do.
Hindus are not made to feel guilty because of what happened to Rohingya Muslims and Kashmiris.
So, why should Muslims feel guilty for being Muslims?
People talk about 9/11 but what about the 9/11s that America did in Iraq, Palestine, Syria and Libya.
People talk about twin towers just two buildings, and what about hundreds of buildings bombed in Iraq, Palestine, Syria and Libya.
UN did nothing for Rohingya Muslims, Kashmiris and Palestinians.
America, England, France and Russia were supposed to be peacemakers but they did a lot of destruction. Russia did chemical attacks in Syria. France was also involved in the Syria and Libya.
There is no difference between Osama Bin Laden, Hitler, George Bush, Tony Blair and Donald Trump. One committed suicide, one was killed and the other three are still alive.
George Bush and Tony Blair should have been hanged to death.
How do they manage to sleep at night?
George Bush's daughter became a Muslim.
Tony Blair's sister-in-law become a Muslim. She was kidnapped but was treated with dignity.Let's look at it this way:
- Nuns remove their habits for state IDs, usually.
- Nun habits don't obscure essential ID details.
- The reason Muslim men expect these women to wear these, is because said men are hopelessly insecure about their women being seen as beautiful by anyone but themselves. They need to make these women appear ugly to the outside world, for fear these women will cheat if another man is allowed to see their beauty.
This kind of controlling, irrational behavior is condemned in any context that doesn't have an Islamic label attached to it.
- The burqa in particular is dehumanizing. It reduces a woman to a walking trash bag. Revealing the man's contempt for the woman beneath.
- Women who refuse to wear these things in the cult's most fundamentalist-to-the-extreme nations are treated as automatically being as bad as crackwhores, and are subjected to the same prison terms. To allow these rags here is to condone those rogue nations' obscene abuses.
Instead of making these cruel monsters that behead women for burning dinner cower in fear to the point of shaking like leaves and vomiting, our tolerance for their oppressive requirements of women emboldens them to fantasize nuking us; as they lose respect for us.
They don't know mercy, they hold contempt for the idea of charity, and they view our tolerance as license to disrespect.
Those locked up in Gitmo (before Obama idiotically released them) were there for a reason: put in the habitat they deserve, they quickly reverted into acting like dung-flinging apes. A degenerate sect of a sketchy faith, full of excuses for men willing to use said sect as a license to be total reprobates on the Earth.
"Give them nothing; take from them, EVERYTHING!" - Leonidas, "300"I have nothing against people's beliefs and Muslims. However, personally i'm against Islamic outfits like these in Western societies. We have our own values and principles over here. Freedom of will that western society provides should not be abused by interfering it's image and cultural integrity. It's not too complicated to understand.
The worst is that different areas like Military and business owners are forced to change their own very dress codes and principles in favor of Muslims and that's bad. Westerns should not change their own lifestyle to suit the rest. When you walk into a new environment, this is your duty to blend it. Learn the language, study the culture, practice the social norms and become part of your new society. It's the same what Muslims should do in this case. The moment you decide to live in a Western society, you need to respect Western values and lifestyle. You need to start to live Western. You don't go to a Muslim country and live Western. It doesn't work.
Besides, it's very simply, when Westerns move to Islamic nations, they are obligated to wear hijab. Cause that's the rule, that's the social norm. So how about when Muslims move to Western nations, they remove their hijab, because that's our rule, our social norms and i would be thankful if they respect the way we live our lives out here specially when you want to be part of it. Is that too much to ask? when i'm walking in the streets of a Western country, i want to feel i'm in a western nation not in the middle east.I don't see how an item of clothing that covers the face completely will fly in the 21st century. Facial recognition is everywhere now whether we realize it or not. This sort of surveillance is only going to increase and become more sophisticated.
While I'm not a huge fan of this sort of surveillance it could also provide us with a bit a convenience. Instead of standing in line to buy something, an in-store camera could use facial recognition identify you immediately, and then automatically charge your account with whatever items you walk out of the store with. How then could someone with their face covered be identified? We would have to have separate rules for them or require them by law to follow the same rules as everybody else.
If hypothetically Muslims became the majority in the west it could result in them having separate rules they must abide by. We already do this to some extent in the west and they are a very small minority. For example: If a Muslim man rapes a child, he's much more likely to be dismissed of his charges, or given lenient sentencing on the presupposition that having sex with underaged girls is part of his culture and religion.
In France, they are considering lowering their age of consent because of this. In Canada, a Muslim man raped his wife and he got off scot-free because he didn't know it was illegal to rape his wife in Canada. In the United States, a doctor performed 600 circumcisions on girls and it never made the front-page news. In the U. K. there are Muslim gang rapes everywhere and if you report these rapes on social media it's considered a hate crime and you can be arrested.i think it should be banned. not for religious female oppression purposes but for simple criminal reasons. you're not allowed to go into a bank and some public places wearing a Balaclava, simply cause it makes it impossible to identify you and harder to make you accountable for any sort of offenses. even though this clothing has a very functional purpose when it's cold and doesn't just serve the sole purpose to hide your face.
so by that logic, Burkas or Niqabs can not be permissable in my opinion.I don't like a lot of islamic rules on women, they are very oppressive and clearly made by men to control women how they want. No God created those rules, if you go enough years back you will see a man writing these. BUT the women who wear it a lot of times truly believe in it and feel comfortable, so forcing them out would be quite cruel, since if they have strict husbands some of them would force their wives to stay at home just to not be seen. If one day they decide to show their faces or wear different clothes, it needs to be their choice, not some ignorant westerners. What security reasons you speak of? Muslims are aggresive so forcing them to go against their beliefs will just make everything way less secure for everyone.
Most of the people that have commented before me seem to be living outside of Australia. I live in this beautiful country and I love how diverse and understanding it is! I see hijabs, niqabs and burqas sometimes when I go shopping and I personally have no problem with any of them. Some of these women choose to wear these veils because they feel comfortable. Who are we to take that right away from them?
Also, the Sharia law is definitely not allowed over here but the government allows all religion to practice their faith as they wish. Man, I love Australia!!It’s part of someone else’s culture. They don’t hurt you by wearing them, so who are you to say they shouldn’t. I’ve literally never heard of a burka being used to disguise someone face before, there kind of distinctive. And considering the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by men, who don’t wear burkas I don’t really see the problem. When the government starts telling people they can’t wear things society start to become more of a prison than an upholder of justice. Next you’ll be telling people what jobs they can have and when they’re allowed to leave their house.
The only argument I’ve seen for banning burkas had to do potential terrorism, meaning they had had to be seen enough that people can tell if it’s a man or woman, or strapped with a bomb.
I don’t think that was in a western nation. Probably in a war zone ten years ago.
I don’t thinks it’s an issue in a western country.
Banning them would be a violation of religious or cultural rights.
It’s their choice to honour their cultural practices.
That said, they should definitely show themselves when necessary, as in dealing with police, or getting drivers license pictures.
If it’s some woman going about her business, she’s not obligated to show her face without reason.Yes, I am a firm believer that if you are doing something that isn't hurting yourself or others, you should be allowed to do it. All islamic veils pose a serious security risk especially at places with high security. You see, it says specifically in the quran that the veil is specifically meant to hide the woman's hair, body, etc (depending on which one she has) so what will stop anyone from hiding anything else in there? If you want to wear it in public, fine, but if you try to enter a building with security and are allowed to not get checked if you are secure or not because it makes you feel bad is absolutely ludicrous. Everyone should have their safety put before one person's feelings.
TL;DR: Wanna sneak a bomb in? Just say you're muslim and cover your face so you won't get found out.In the US, that is unconstitutional! How dare you even suggest for people to disrespect their religious beliefs! For some, the only reason they have them on is because they are in public and do not accept the temptation of physical attraction until after betrothal. Before you let ignorant fear rule you, how about researching their purpose (s) in the first place. Anyone that agrees to this in the slightest is nothing short of a fucking bigot!
If this were to be the case, then I would 100% support ALL majority Islamic nations to require any and all visitors to abandon their cultural beliefs and be FORCED to wear whatever their government (s) require. Gee, any of you bigots think of that consequential response?
*I don't want to see and therefore will NOT reply to any comments associated with "security", because that is only from cowardous fear.No. I’m not religious at all but I fully encourage their right to wear whatever tf they want. If the authorities NEED to see their face, then yes they should show it for that purpose. And then they should be allowed to cover it back up. In America we are supposed to have the right to religious freedom. Unless they are actively hurting people with their religious practices, then they should not be getting shitted on. I understand that most people would probably be quick to assume the women are terrorist but in my opinion I think that is extremely unfair when most of the radical Muslims are men anyway.
The west was dumb to import this backward culture into our mainly Judeo/Christian and secular societies... peoples that want to live like this is Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and not accept western culture but live like it is 1200 AD. Only in the last 50 or so years did the west start importing these anti western cultures to come set up conflicting colonies of these backward cultures in our lands.
Stupid.I believe that if there are not special circumstances that allow it, face should be shown, feels more secure for everybody, even Muslim women themselves, as any weirdo could use that kind of clothing while doing anything illegal and get some women wearing burka in trouble or shit like that.
That would happen in my country centuries ago, mask that will cover almost all face were part of traditional clothing, but all people wearing masks would be a problem for police when a criminal would act. Because of that problem it started to be forbidden to cover the face and the use of masks on public spaces. Is easier for people to recognize you and know if you were innocent, for witnesses to help security forces in special situations and so.Personal choice if they choose to wear them what pisses me off is I can't go in the petrol station with my Helmet on and pay, I have faff and take if off before I can go in but then in front someone with full face covering is fine because it's for religious beliefs
Even if not all muslims are bad. Some people have grown up with bad relations and are not exactly to be trusted. If you see a person kill your parents then you're brain is pretty fucked tbh. And these people might turn into bad people because of this reason. I'm not against wearing just the headwear. But covering your entire face and body is basically like wearing a disguise. No one can tell who you are. And you can basically do whatever you want without getting caught. And if you're working at a job that has very strict rules when it comes to your hygiene, you should probably not wear things like that. Take it off or don't apply for those types of jobs
I believe in the US, that the people should have the right to express themselves in whatever way of their choosing (even if I don’t agree) as we live in a free country. Having said that, I’d be extremely uncomfortable if I saw someone wearing a burka walking into a bank. I personally feel that you should adapt to cultural norms.
Yes. Not only it's an ostentatious religious clothing, but it's also a mark of submission of a woman. It's also hiding a face, which makes the woman nothing more than a ghost roaming the streets, which in turns greatly limits her social interactions.
And it's also a matter of security, because basically anyone could hide behind it, criminal or terrorist.
And for fuck sake, it's the western world, and that culture isn't even from here. We shouldn't even have to ban it, it should have disappeared because the immigrants are supposed to integrate, not bring their own culture here.
