I want safety and security as much as the next person, but once it starts to violate religious rights, a very important right that the United States was founded on, it paves the way for other rights to be violated, for the sake of safety and security. I have nothing against people's beliefs and Muslims. However, personally i'm against Islamic outfits like these in Western societies. We have our own values and principles over here. Freedom of will that western society provides should not be abused by interfering it's image and cultural integrity. It's not too complicated to understand.
The worst is that different areas like Military and business owners are forced to change their own very dress codes and principles in favor of Muslims and that's bad. Westerns should not change their own lifestyle to suit the rest. When you walk into a new environment, this is your duty to blend it. I don't see how an item of clothing that covers the face completely will fly in the 21st century. Facial recognition is everywhere now whether we realize it or not. This sort of surveillance is only going to increase and become more sophisticated.
While I'm not a huge fan of this sort of surveillance it could also provide us with a bit a convenience. Instead of standing in line to buy something, an in-store camera could use facial recognition identify you immediately, and then automatically charge your account with whatever items you walk out of the store with. How then could someone with their face covered be identified? We would have to have separate rules for them or require them by law to follow the same rules as everybody else.
If hypothetically Muslims became the majority in the west it could result in them having separate rules they must abide by. We already do this to some extent in the west and they are a very small minority. In the United States, a doctor performed 600 circumcisions on girls and it never made the front-page news. In the U. K. there are Muslim gang rapes everywhere and if you report these rapes on social media it's considered a hate crime and you can be arrested.

Most of the people that have commented before me seem to be living outside of Australia. I live in this beautiful country and I love how diverse and understanding it is! I see hijabs, niqabs and burqas sometimes when I go shopping and I personally have no problem with any of them. Some of these women choose to wear these veils because they feel comfortable. I’m not sure why this comment was addressed towards me. Although I do agree with many of your points. There is a lot of hypocrisy in western culture, and nationalism has caused a lot of hurt for a lot of people. I don’t know if I’d say Donald Trump and George Bush are as bad as Hitler, but they’re certainly not stellar role models. Especially not when it comes to how they’ve treated people of different backgrounds than theirselves. I also agree that Muslims in general have suffered from terrorist attacks far more than any other ethnic or religious group. Also 9/11 may have only damaged 3 building but it resulted in over nearly 3,000 deaths and the severe injury of 6,000 others. All of them innocents. It is widely acknowledged as the event that started the war in Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda struck against the US. A country that had been barely involved in the Middle East. The US responded. Did that response go to far? In some cases yes. The US has done a lot of good in the Middle East. We have also done a lot of bad and made a lot of mistakes. I don’t feel I or anyone else truly has the knowledge or authority to weigh the good against the bad and decide what wins out. All I know is that history is as it is, and we can’t undo what’s been done. All we can do is learn from our mistakes, and teach ourselves and our children to do better. As for Israel, that’s a different beast entirely. I’m aware that there is a lot of bad blood between Israel and its neighbors, it’s been brewing for hundreds if not thousands of years. There have been mistakes and atrocities committed on all sides, not just Israel’s. And I think a lot of their past actions bear further review. What must be understood however is that Israel is a nation surrounded by enemies. There are bombs and mortar fire being lobbed over its borders on a daily basis. @vald9inches I am British Pakistani Muslim. Muslim men are not allowed to touch women before marriage. I have a Muslim boyfriend in Pakistan and he will not touch me before marriage. He will wait for at least 3 years for me to complete my education or perhaps for than 3 years. This is the respect Islam gives me. The western culture is using and dumping women, it is pumping and dumping women without marriage, committing adultery, giving birth to illegitimate sin children and open relationships. Islam respects women. Committing adultery, drinking alcohol and doing nude photoshoots and scenes for money is not woman empowerment.
The west was dumb to import this backward culture into our mainly Judeo/Christian and secular societies... peoples that want to live like this is Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and not accept western culture but live like it is 1200 AD. Only in the last 50 or so years did the west start importing these anti western cultures to come set up conflicting colonies of these backward cultures in our lands.
I believe that if there are not special circumstances that allow it, face should be shown, feels more secure for everybody, even Muslim women themselves, as any weirdo could use that kind of clothing while doing anything illegal and get some women wearing burka in trouble or shit like that.
That would happen in my country centuries ago, mask that will cover almost all face were part of traditional clothing, but all people wearing masks would be a problem for police when a criminal would act. Because of that problem it started to be forbidden to cover the face and the use of masks on public spaces. Is easier for people to recognize you and know if you were innocent, for witnesses to help security forces in special situations and so.
Personal choice if they choose to wear them what pisses me off is I can't go in the petrol station with my Helmet on and pay, I have faff and take if off before I can go in but then in front someone with full face covering is fine because it's for religious beliefs
yes, they cover it up because of religious beliefs. your religion doesn't ask you to cover your face so you are walking around freely, that means if you started covering your face for some reason, you are trying to hide something.
Even if not all muslims are bad. Some people have grown up with bad relations and are not exactly to be trusted. If you see a person kill your parents then you're brain is pretty fucked tbh. And these people might turn into bad people because of this reason. I'm not against wearing just the headwear. But covering your entire face and body is basically like wearing a disguise. No one can tell who you are. And you can basically do whatever you want without getting caught. And if you're working at a job that has very strict rules when it comes to your hygiene, you should probably not wear things like that. Take it off or don't apply for those types of jobs
I believe in the US, that the people should have the right to express themselves in whatever way of their choosing (even if I don’t agree) as we live in a free country. Having said that, I’d be extremely uncomfortable if I saw someone wearing a burka walking into a bank. I personally feel that you should adapt to cultural norms.

Yes. Not only it's an ostentatious religious clothing, but it's also a mark of submission of a woman. It's also hiding a face, which makes the woman nothing more than a ghost roaming the streets, which in turns greatly limits her social interactions.
