In some countries men have to pay child support more often. Women also are allowed to keep the child more often than men and sometimes the men aren't allowed to see them, but still have to pay child support. It rarely goes both way. #ChildSupport#GenderEquality#Equality
My opinion: I think it's unfair and that the court in some countries are as biased on it as marriage related and child abuse cases. Both genders can abuse the system, their children etc. and a woman can end her child's life with abortion against the man's will. A woman can refuse letting the man see his children and still demand child support if the court decides allowing her keeping the children. My point with mentioning all this is that discrimination goes both way. Many women have been discriminated and are still discriminated. I knows about the situation in Saudi Arabia. But men can also experience unfairness.
As far as I know, you get child support from the government here (Netherlands).
But generally speaking, men pay alimony, child support and the lot because the purchasing power of a guy tends to decrease far less after divorce than of a women.
Here, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the purchasing power of a guy decreases 0.2% after divorce, whereas it decreases 25% for a women.
So if the child stays with the women, the women has a far lower income yet has to bear much more costs. A part is of course compensated for by the government, but it then makes sense to have the man, who still is the dad so bears half the responsibility, to pay a bit to ensure that the children have a halve-decent life.
It simply has to do with that women tend to make less and work fewer hours. Thus, it makes sense that the one who makes much more pays for the responsibility that person bears.
The woman can abort the child after she has become pregnant. If she's allowed to abort a 12 or a 20 week old child depends on the country she lives in.
Some women should not be given custody of the kids. I have seen several instances where she killed her kids so her boyfriend would stay with her, or her sleezy boyfriend killed the kid by abuse. And withholding visitation rights? Unless the guy was an abuser that is just not right. Sometimes a guy is paying out so much in child support he may as well be homeless as he doesn't have enough left for his own apartment. The laws are a slipper slope and the door swings both ways. The best advice is use a condom so you are not put in the situation to begin with.
Women= Pregnancy Pregnancy= baby Do you get it know why more women keep the baby? They give birth to it, they have the pain, they have the side effects, the changes of their own body. Father don't have that
Just because they gave birth to it doesn’t mean they are good mothers. Yes they went through all that pain and struggle kudos to you, but their is a big difference between the struggle you had to go through and good parenting
The problem with biased courts is that women keeps their children more often than men although the man isn't abusive or a bad parent. Not every women are good parents either.
@LuWe22 Yes, but you can also say wouldn’t the father want to keep the baby, because it’s also his, and he also had to wait with his partner. The father didn’t struggle and pushed him out, but that doesn’t mean that the mother loves the baby more nor does it imply that either parent is a good parent. I think this topic is really hard to pin down because of all the emotional and psychological depth it has and everyone has their own opinion on it and what is “fair”.
You really answered it in your first two sentences. Men pay more because women have the children more. This is usually just because women tend to raise the children more and the men tend to earn more.
I do agree with you a bit on custody. My aunt was a convicted drug dealer AFTER marriage. My uncle was a retired USAF Officer. Even with this, the arbitrator still wanted to give primary physical custody to the youngest child to my aunt. Destiny intervened and she party too hard one too many times, so my uncle got full everything, but the idea that a drug abusing dealer would be given custody over a decorated veteran was insane in my eyes.
I think its because women have always been seen as the better caregiver and they're more likely to have time to take care of the child. Some men are always working so maybe the judge sees men as better providers. Unwanted pregnancies wouldn't be a problem if people used condoms. Men need to smarten up. It's naive to think your pull out game will work 100% of the time. But yea the child support is unfair.
It takes two to make a baby. I agree, wrap your Willy.. It's your own and only responsibility beside getting consent. But then again, you also have female contraceptives and there's even an emergency pill. It's not that hard to operate these things. You can get them even if you're underaged or not at the age of consent and it can be legally discussed without your parent's knowledge. It's something put in place for kids even if being dumb, to still prevent them from messing up really badly.
Ik, I'm just directing it at men because they're most likely to pay child support so they need to wear protection to avoid paying. Even if the girl had contraceptives, he'd still be most likely to pay. She could be on birth control and he's wearing a condom during intercourse, he would still be most likely to pay. It's all about men avoiding child support.
No they weren't, traditionally speaking you left the kids with the provider aka the man. Hence why you have fairy tales of wicked stepmother's but not stepfather's. It wasn't until tender years that attitude came about women were seen as the primary caregivers.
No one saying that men don't experience "unfairness". Both genders experience unfairness in their own right, it is what it is. It's been that way since the days of Adam and Eve.. It is unlikely that it will ever change. In terms of abortion, I wholeheartedly believe that it should remain the women's decision. If the tables were turned and men had the duty of child birth, I would be saying that men should have that decision.
Due to traditional societal constructs and beliefs, women are seen as more nurturing and more able to care for a child than a man (although that may not always be the case). So in a difficult child custody decision, unless it is shown that the mother is an unfit parent the child usually goes to her and the father usually gets the raw end of the deal, even if he is a good and attentive parent.
It is unfairly proportioned towards women as it is. But, guys out there need to smarted the fuck up and not let women be stay at home losers while he pays for everything. This just makes her look so vulnerable and places more blame on him that the courts just eat that up and give her all the power.
In UK, child support is based on number of nights the child spends at one parents or the other. As mothers are generally the primary carer, child spends majority of nights there, more often than not the father will pay maintenance. Paticularily in cases where you're unmarried or not in long term relationship, the mothers right outway the fathers. If they can't amicably agree a situation over access/finances, it can get very messy

I'm from middle east and many guys here want their wives to stay at home to rise the kids.
In case the marriage didn't work out she didn't have the chance to work and would be very hard to get a job when she didn't even start. Kids need mom more than dad in early age. When teenagers the judge asks the kids whom you want to live with and whom to visit. Unless there was abuse the court won't allow one parent full custody.
A survey given to the MN courts found a convincing amount of bias towards women in anything relating to children, and that bias was self reported
Oddly enough Judge Judy gets this one right. While she's long removed from family courts, she's gone on a soapbox multiple times on her show about the concept of gender neutral parents and how the mother is no more of a parent than the father. she's even called out other judges. Refreshing when someone gets it

Then I get shame for not sleeping around easily by an ex-male friend before. Funny because I don't have 3 kids like he does some people are losers nowadays they just want to hoe around until they get shamed for it and then try to cover it up. I am over it that bs.
It's supposed to be equal, it is on paper. But in reality it's not, men are discriminated and pushed away. There are so many bad mom's out there when the dad is the better choice. It's a shame that we live in a world where people really believe that men can't take care of their kids.

I think men should be allowed to abort themselves finacially if they are unmarried to the woman and the woman decides to keep it. Things are changing, there's a lot of women out there paying child support and alimony to their ex.
Some laws are unfair. I too can not understand this. In vain, we do not have a youth who have mental health problems when they come from a family that has divorced. Here, the laws should be revised, is my opinion.
Because men earn "more money" and the "wage gap" (which doesn't exist) is too high. Having to pay for your own child is simply "too much" for a woman that gets everything from her divorce and makes only a certain amount of money per year...
In all honestly more likely the man who caused the breakup not saying all time but I bet over 50% is down to the man more than the woman but the judge favours the best interests of the child or with the information he is given to make his judgement
In many cases pregnant women dont even tell men they have sex with they are pregnant only to go to court two years later saying the father is not taking care of the child and demanding child support, how could the father take care of the kid if he didn't even know it existed?
? Financial abortions is when the guy can choose not to be responsible for the kid at all. He doesn't have to pay or see the kid. How is that sick, and how does it have anything to do with rape?
I have seen the court system fail on this. Its a pity because kids should be with the most stable parent it shouldn't be based off of gender. In the end though it is what it is.

Because the men leave more than women. If the woman leaves she should pay child support but if the guy does he should.
Because remnants of traditional gender roles still permeates many aspects of society and the concept of the women being the nurturers that take care of the children is persistent
