Don't know how I feel about this. I don't think his WikiLeaks where wrong and the sexual assault allegations came at a time it seemed rather convient but since I don't know enough about them I can't tell if its authentic or not (I've heard he is an asshole and I'm not suggesting its note entirely possible, or even likely he did what he was accused of with the sexual assault, only that I don't know the details and it came after he pissed off a lot of governments so its suspicious to me). Though it was bound to happen.

Goes both ways. Interesting to see him out of the embassy, interested to see how things go from here and whether he ends up getting exported to the U. S. in the end. The stuff him and his team got into with the Russians, as well as helping explicitly meddle in the elections and the political party he ran in Aus that blew up because it was being very explicitly not open, honest, or upholding any of the principles he swore by... all those things really turned the supporters against him. He's not gonna get much support from reasonable people, and he's done that to himself.

I don't buy the rape charges, but what do I know. Governments will do anything and ARE the law. They will use and abuse it... who is going to try them?
I don't agree with committing crimes like he did. But he chose to sacrifice himself for all to expose government for what it is. He should have just "whistleblowed", and elevated it to the point it was exposed to be dealt with, rather than air it like it is public record. The workers have to follow orders, those in power will do whatever they want, they abuse power, always been a problem.
There is another leg of government missing to restrain the power. That is what the press used to do... expose, research, report. They don't do that so much now. He just exposed corruption, which I'm sure goes far deeper in the power base.

I'm actually torn on this and of two minds about him. I think he shone some light on government corruption where it needed to be shone (although I also think governments have a legitimate need for state secrets), but being a hacker and illegally accessing computer servers and the like is a flat-out crime. So... it's close. I think I come down on the side of sending him to prison because I want to discourage hacking. Now if only we could throw the entire Chinese government and most of its industries in jail for the same reason...
