Don't know how I feel about this. I don't think his WikiLeaks where wrong and the sexual assault allegations came at a time it seemed rather convient but since I don't know enough about them I can't tell if its authentic or not (I've heard he is an asshole and I'm not suggesting its note entirely possible, or even likely he did what he was accused of with the sexual assault, only that I don't know the details and it came after he pissed off a lot of governments so its suspicious to me). Goes both ways. Interesting to see him out of the embassy, interested to see how things go from here and whether he ends up getting exported to the U. S. in the end. I don't buy the rape charges, but what do I know. Governments will do anything and ARE the law. They will use and abuse it... who is going to try them?
I don't agree with committing crimes like he did. But he chose to sacrifice himself for all to expose government for what it is. He should have just "whistleblowed", and elevated it to the point it was exposed to be dealt with, rather than air it like it is public record. The workers have to follow orders, those in power will do whatever they want, they abuse power, always been a problem.

I'm actually torn on this and of two minds about him. I think he shone some light on government corruption where it needed to be shone (although I also think governments have a legitimate need for state secrets), but being a hacker and illegally accessing computer servers and the like is a flat-out crime. The British government has had a police detail camped outside that embassy for the last seven years, in case he tried to abscond. I don't know what it's all cost, but probably quite a lot. Sounds like the Ecuadorian embassy staff had had enough of him, too.
