when conservatives say these people are mentally unwell, and leftists claim that we are dehumanizing trans people by claiming they are ill, what the leftists are actually doing is dehumanizing people with mental illness.
No conservative attacks the depressed or people with anxiety, or agoraphobia, or other more common mental health issues. When we talk about someone suffering from crippling depression, we aren't dehumanizing them, and when we talk of treating these people, we are not seeking to destroy who they are.
The same with trans people. I don't care their sexuality. I don't care their hobbies, or how they dress, or anything else. But insisting that, in a conflict of their mental perception of themselves (which can not be objectively measured or verified) and their physical being (which can be), it is obviously physical reality that is wrong, and then insisting in the harshest way possible that the rest of society go along and support these poor people in their delusions, is insanity.

therapy.
You don't need drugs for everything.
And LEFTISTS (not liberals) are not trying to "destigmatize" it. They are looking to normalize it.

Gender identity disorder, just like anorexia, is a form of body dysphoria.
You don't encourage anorexics to starve themselves, because their mind is telling them lies about their physical being. You get them help, and that help, at least starts, as therapy.

Therapy can't undo male versus female neurological wiring. Anorexics have dysmorphia (they think that they are fatter than they actually are) on top of dysphoria and starving yourself has far worse consequences than gender reassignment so this is just a false equivalence.

If people have underlying medical conditions you'd treat them differently. Treating people who are transgender as the gender that they identify is "normalizing transgenderism" in the sense that using sign language to communicate with a deaf person is "normalizing hearing impairments".

And if you want to talk about male vs female neurological wiring, you're stepping into a minefield.
here's how:
1) by stating that there is male wiring vs female wiring, you are declaring that male and female are biologically predetermined, and that no other genders exist, which will get you crucified in the LGBTQA+ arena
2) if there is male neurology and female neurology, there must be differences between genders. This means that gender stereotypes have some basis in fact, cultural gender roles are based on biology and mindset, and a tacit admittance that, mentally, men and women think different, behave different, and therefore are more likely to not be equal in many tasks, so men excel in some, and women in others. Again, this line of thinking is a minefield.

Many men exist outside of that spectrum and still see themselves as men, and many women exist in that spectrum and still see themselves as women. The idea that a guys brain is wired like a woman's means nothing, as there is not one single man alive whose brain is wired to match the model of a male brain.
4) many gay people have neurological development that looks more like what is typically expected from the opposite sex. Many gay men's brains, neurologically, look similar to women's... or trans men. So why are some men gay, while others are trans? That obviously is not the deciding factor.
5) neurology vs autogynophilia. The simple fact is, even among biologists who feel that neurology proves legitimacy to trans claims, they are forced to admit that only a minority of patients show neurological reasons to be trans (most who show the neurology are female to male), where as the vast majority (who are also male to female) show more signs of autogynophilia, which is the sexual attraction to the idea of yourself as the opposite gender.

There are objective causes to mental illnesses and neurological disorders.
1) There are biological differences, I'm not here to deny that.
2) Men may have feminine attributes and vice versa but that doesn't mean that in terms of all of their traits, they're on the other side of the spectrum.
3) just because a male if more feminine than most men doesn't mean he's on the female side
4) Whether or not it's neurological or mental, if it can't be treated the aforementioned logic would apply.

As for homosexual people having brains more closely resembling those of straight people of the opposite gender, I looked into those articles and they mentioned that parts of the brain are more similar to the opposite gender, not to composition of the brain as a whole. And there is going to be sampling bias here because we have a general idea in which ways gay people act like straight people of the opposite sex and what parts of the brain control those behaviors.

Trans people are unhappier after transition because it fucks with their natural biology.
The treatment is paid for by the public.

Trans people feeling entitled to a relationship when they're less desirable.

I care (though I'm not really a right-winger) because they're being mistreated for profit. It's a mental illness that doesn't seem to get better via surgery. I think helping them cope with their identities would be better than giving them operations they end up regretting. It's a false promise and it's cruel to make them believe they could become something they aren't.

Doing it to small kids is beyond anything that the terrible people running sanatoriums did in the early 20th century.

I agree I'm also not conservative and I would like to add some context. Some people it also a religious thing while others dont care that they transition once given the real information. They just dont like the idea being lied to with a decision as big as that especially because they do see it as a mental illness.

@perfectchaos Not quite. I think major body modification requires a purpose (medically) and a sound mind. Vaccines at least have proven benefits with low risk for most people. Gender swaps (misleading name) are high risk for everybody, always permanently damaging, and serve no medical purpose.

We were talking about downs for a second but I don't like to take away people's rights. That means body modifications that are unhealthy. The downs is hard because there is a fine line of someone actually just loving the person and a person knowing they can easily manipulate them. The vaccine is important because of parents rights. At what points do we say a parent no longer has rights to say raise him a certain religious way. I'm very leery of rights removal.
